So guys, how do you think it will go tonight? France are notoriously tough to beat in Paris, so i expect a narrow defeat for England.
I do expect a big game from Rooney. That kid has just been in :smoking: hot form of late and is a big player for club and country now. He simply doesn't get the respect he deserves.

It was a clear penalty but apart from that...I hate to say it but England have played well.

Whoever did that is an idiot. Thanks :boo:
Anyways England had a good game, i was quite happy with the improvements made so far, we pretty much controlled the game for most of the 90 mins.
We were a bit unlucky to concede the penalty but its not like it matters really, this is a friendly and were not looking to win too much, just to make sure we play our game right against one of the best teams in the world.
Rooney looked decent this game, good movement and making himself dangerous near their goal.
Beckham had a good game i thought. Excellent passing and crosses. I think Bentley had a bit of a quiet game but he played good still.
Crouch. Why does he play!?
David James had a good game too thankfully. Looks like our goal keeping department is stable again.
Overall some good improvements made quite soon already. Theres still areas i saw that needed a bit of developing still but a good performance.

Dont you hate Alan Hansen? in Match of the Day he started saying we dont have the technical ability to pass like France! i couldnt believe my ears! We dominated the game but diddnt have the final ball to score goals.
we had 62.6% territorial advantage, france had 37.4
we had 56.6 overall possesion, france had 43.4
we also had better passing success, more tackles success.
we just diddnt have enough shots! but hansen saying we diddnt pass the ball well enough we damn well did! and we did it against a top side.
scotland over achieved last season and its gone to his head and now he wants to try to have a pop at england at any chance. i think they should kick him off the program on live tv so everyone can point and laugh lol

Poor hansen
We all hate him up here cause he's sold out and became Englified on the EBC - he praises Engerland too much with Shearer and Wright (who, to be fair to them, are much more entitled to do it than him). When he does say something negative about England it feels like he doesn't really want to.
Nobody loves him ....

One must note that the only goal France managed to score was a penalty - could the game have been different were it not for that penalty? Could it have been a draw? Surely one would think France would have been boosted in confidence after the goal - they are not a team to sit back and enjoy only one goal. Why did they not score twice?
I am not saying that England were stronger and France got lucky, I think it is hard to judge a result from penalty kicks alone. Overall however, we are not able to draw conclusion on England yet; Capello needs time with the players and to learn about them - got a couple years to go still..

Too true.
Capello has spoken about the players lacking in confidence. If he went too experimental against a good side like France that would worsen things.
I'm sure he'll pick the right time to look at those with potential.

it wasnt bad was it, we have played a lot more attacking before, we usually do to be honest, but fabio is making sure the team is stable in posession first, and against a team like france its crucial.
people dont realise but you will never beat england by more than a goal, or maybe 2, but we definately have the quality there, we really dont have an england setup for the squad.
i know a manager as good as fabio capello will sort that out and i like what the guy has done so far.

I think we all know who deleted the post Paul. Let me just say he is no longer around. :bathbaby:
As for Capello, history has proved when he is given a decent squad of players (and England are a decent squad, the CL final proves this) he always gets them playing well together and having a winning mentality. It might not be pretty, but he will be successful with England.
