There's no other intenational match that compares. No other match has involved so much talent, such a deep rivalry, and so many World Cups. Italy x Germany, England x Scotland, what other match would compare? The sheer emotional power this derby involves makes it one-of-a-kind. (Italy x Germany would have six WCs between them as well, but the rivalry isn't as explosive)

This match has seen the likes of Pelé, Maradona, Garrincha, Ardiles, Zico, Passarella, Nilton Santos, Di Stefano, Falcão, Batistuta, so much talent it's hard to list them without being unfair to great geniuses.

Some numbers involving the Brazil x Argentina classic: In all history, matches played in the "Monumental" (as today's game) have shown a perfect balance. 12 matches were played, with exactly 3 victories for each side, and 6 draws. Altogether, each of the two countries have scored precisely 19 goals in the Monumental, a tied score that might change today. A great rivalry, with very equal numbers, as you can see.

On a curious note, while on the "Monumental" the two coutries have exactly equal stats, in Brazil's Maracanã stadium things aren't that level. In 12 matches played at Maracanã, Brazil won 8, drew 2 and lost 2 matches (the last one being the match just prior to World Cup '98), having scored 26 goals and conceded 8.

In São Paulo's Morumbi, on the other hand, things are quite even. 3 matches played, one victory for each side, one tie, Brazil having scored 5 and Argentina, 4 goals.

This is gonna be a very hard match. I hope the best team wins, and I also hope the best team is wearin' yellow.;)
