"Dinamo" and "Panathenaikos" could meet in a third round of Champions League qualifications, so their decision to play a preparation friendly is a bit surprising.
Both coaches tested larger number of players - Vlak ("Dinamo") 18 of them, while Anastasiadis ("Panathenaikos") tested as much as 23 (!!) which means that he changed the whole team at the halftime, and also additionally he changed the 2nd goalkeeper with the third one at some 20 minutes to go.
"Dinamo" was better team in the first half (when Balaban, our new attacker who came from "Rijeka" put us in the lead) while "Panathenatikos" was better in the second half (when Liberopoulos equalized). This practically means that "Panathenaikos" has "much longer bench". "Dinamo" won by Pavlovic's (Slovenian NT player) nicely executed free kick, in 82nd minute.
This match shows that my low expectations before the CL qualifications might be a bit too pessimistic. Despite the new rule for seeding in the draw for the third round, there still are the teams that we could beat.
The draw for the third round of CL qualifications is tomorrow.
