Yeah I think its time that we make a thread about this "crucial" match. Injury wise we are in a bit of trouble. Jugovic and Djorovic are suffering some injuries and right now they are 50-50 for this Wendesday. Milosevic also suffered an elbow (?) injury against the Swiss and missed training on Monday, but he seems to have recovered and will play against Slovenia. Boskov at the press conference made some comments about our possible tactics. First off he said we will be playing with three in the back as Slovenia will enter this match with only one forward. He also suggested that Kovacevic might play from the first minute along with Milosevic. According to him we get a height advantage on the Slovenians. (yeah and we also lose a hell of a lot on speed) Tickets are selling out and there will be around 5000 Slovenians at the match. Personally I feel that this match will be close. However if we are able to score early (within the first 15 minutes of match) this might bring panic to a very unexpierenced Slovenian team and therefore a massacre would take place. :D Either way I predict a win for the "plavi" goals being scored by Milosevic (as always), and Kezman. How many they score we'll see. :) Here's my line-up counting on Djorovic and Jugovic to be ready:

First of all I think that we should start Kezman instead of Kovacevic, sure we might have some height advantage but like Grobar already said, we will loose a lot of speed and don't forget, Kezman alongside Mijatovic were the best strikers on the field against Switzerland

Besides the fact that Milosevic scored a goal, he was pretty much invincible :rolleyes: :(

Hopefully both Djorovic and Jugovic will recover in time to play

Like Grobar said again, an early goal would be great, in my opinion the best would be going into the second half with at least a 1 goal lead and than scoring another between the 50 and 70 minute

I believe we can beat Slovenia, just like we should have beaten every other team in our group :p


Here's my ideal lineup counting on the fact that both Jugovic and Djorovic will play...

Notice it is very similar to Grobar's...

This is my lineup. Since Kezman is not scoring any I'd prefer Kova in the lineup and use Kezman later in the second half.
If Jugovic is unavailable I think Stankovic would be the proper replacement, as Tomic is not only pure crap, but also the last option for Capello's midfield in Roma.

Stankovic je propao... Against Switzerland he was horrible, he had a wide open shot inside the Swiss penalty box which he shot 10 meters over the net. He is my last option when it comes to our midfield. Tomic is a consistent player and he is not Capello's last option..you'll see this year..:)

Tomic has been playing horrible in every match I saw...he is slow, doesn't have any technique, and posesses an average shot. Cafu, Candela, Tommasi, Emerson, Fuser, Assunçao, Guigou and Lima all are ahead of Tomic in choices for the midfield in Roma, and Capello was already looking to sell Tomic earlier this season but his transfer to Verona failed.

Unfortunately I didn't see the match against the Swiss, but I know that Stankovic creates chances for himself, and I know that he is a quality player. To be honest, I can't wait for Stankovic to start a game for us again, I am sure he will use the opportunity.

You have to win, for us is also a draw o.k.(then we are 2nd in the group).

I think your players are on pressure, you play at home, you have to win.
If Slovenia will loose, at the return our players will be accepted like notting happen, they are heroes whatever will happen in Bg.

Remember also one think: we are the only team in the group without a defeat. Our players are very motivated.
We have shown, that we can play football, and that we can play it very well.

But, if we scored first, then you are finished, 5.000 slovenians will be making a lot of noise (then it will be, like is playing in Lubiana) and then you are finished, the score will be at least 0:3.

Stankovic creats chances for himself ? Ha Ha Ha
When was the last time he created a chance for himself and scored ? And what Stankovic isn't the last option for Lazio ? When was the last time that he started for the club ? Tomic is a very good player and by the end of the season he will make a big impact with the club.

1. How do you know we won't score early ? What are you some sort fortune teller ? You seem to have gotten very cocky lately meanwhile forgetting that besides Zahovic your side does not have one player which you could call "semi good" or of whom any soccer followers have heard off. (I still give a lot of credit to Katanac for making a very good team while having little quality to work with)

2. And what you are trying to tell me there's no pressure on your players ? What they don't care if they lose and not make the WC ? Give me a break..

3. Our players aren't afraid of you nor is Savicevic they are just giving you respect which we didn't have before for you. In fact this is a good sign because usually we predict an easy win against you guys. The fact that we are taking this match very seriously is good news.

4. If you score first we are not finished.. We proved against the Swiss that we are able to comeback from goal deficits. If we score first with 30000 fans making noise then like I said before you are finished. (5000 fans can't hardly make the same impact)

Oh please ... Stankovic didn't play well at all with Lazio last season, and the only reason for that is because he has been given 15 or 20 minutes to do so...I still remember that game against Bologna (?) , where he went around three players and scored a beauty, or that goal in his first game when he joined Lazio :)

About Tomic ... I don't know what you're talking about, if he is so good he wouldn't have been loaned out to Alaves anyway. Each time I saw the guy play for Roma, he was by far their worst player, and same goes for the Yugo NT, in which he was supposed to take over Pixy's role (haha). I don't think it can get much worse than Tomic really, I think we should call up Govedarica and beg him for another chance :)

Stankovic did all of that like three years ago ! These last two seasons he has been horrible and why do you think he was only given 10-15 minutes a match ? Maybe because he just isn't good enough to play more ? Now you say Tomic is bad because he got loaned out to Alaves. Do I have to remind you that they made the Uefa Cup finals last season and had players like Contra and Moreno. So by no means was Alaves a bad club. Next you say everytime you see him play for Roma he dissapoints ? How is that possible when he hasnt even played an official match for Roma. (pre-season doesn't count) And no he wasn't supposed the next Piksi that was Stankovic. And we all remember how he did at Euro 2000 in that role. Stankovic was such a good leader that he wore the #10 for oh about 2 matches. :)

First of all Zahovic didnt even play in the last match against Russia!! And second of all, you guys came back against a Swiss team that had only ten men on the field! Slovenia came back and tied them WITH only TEN men!!!

to our slovenian brother matthias, our players dont care about winning. They dont have the pride and feel for the county. Once we get rid of the yugo flag and yugo anthem then they will play with their hearts. There is no doubt that we have the talent, the only doubt is the will!!!!! (eg. Mihajlovic red card euro 2000) Most of our players have won cups and championships for their club teams. It will be a very close game. :smoking: :smoking:

Thats true, most people dont even know Zahovic, but you have to admit our players are very underrated, just because they are from tiny Slovenia.....

Knavs is a good defender, and for me he is probably the next true World Class player in the Slovenia line-up...Believe me, I have seen his stats and he is pretty good.
