it's been decided that the first leg will be played here at the MCG and the second leg away to whoever will be 5th ranked south americans. dates haven't been made but it will be in november some time. most probable opponent will be alvaro recoba's uruguay.
this'll be tough considering that both teams will have the luxury of playing at the great MCG first, and then back to south america where australia will have to quickly acclimatize to the altitude and whatever. most important thing australia will have to do in the first leg is to keep them SCORELESS. if we do then it's anyones game.
crowd factor will be in their favour. first up will be the 85,000 odd cheering for us, and taking into consideration that they are quite a distance from the players, they can't exactly get stuck into the south american players much. over their they'll be rabid and in our face all match, probably throwing flares or rocks or sticks of dynamite at our players. some individual brilliance will be what will win it for us in the second leg ... i just feel the pressure the crowd will give us over there will be too much for us to get into a rythem.
well time will tell what'll happen, just hope we don't go through the same hell as 4 years ago against iran.
i don't suppose anyone else would have much interest in this game .... mrs stankovic ??
