New Inter Milan signing Nuno Maniche has spoken of his joy at joining the club and his desire to help them to European glory this season.
The Nerazzurri completed the loan transfer of the 30-year-old Portuguese midfielder from Spanish club Atletico Madrid and have an option to make it a permanent switch for around £4 million.
"It is a dream to play for one of the biggest teams in the world,” he told the Inter Channel.
“I am proud to be another Portuguese figure in this squad that is proving to be very strong. Luis Figo told me so much about Inter, how this is like a big family and I’ll settle in really well.”
The former Benfica, Porto and Chelsea midfielder had previously stated that he was reluctant to leave Atletico Madrid but it is thought that his regular fall-outs with Vicente Calderón led to his loan with the Serie A champions.
It has also been widely reported that Inter coach Roberto Mancini wasn't keen to take the player on loan, thinking he would be surplus to requirements in what is already one of Europe's biggest squads.
Nuno Ricardo de Oliveira Ribeiro, to give him full name, didn't allow the rumours about Mancini's reluctance to take him on board to dent his enthusiasm for the new task in hand.
"Inter want to win the Champions League and with this squad we have the chance to do really well."
