Everton forward James McFadden may hand in a transfer request to speed up a move to Glasgow giants Celtic.
The Sunday Mail claims that the Scotland international is desperate to move to his boyhood heroes having had limited first team opportunities this season.

Celtic have already had a loan bid for McFadden rejected while the 24 year old didn't even make Everton's bench for the game with Arsenal on Saturday.

why keep a guy you dont even have on the bench? they should let him go to Celtic to keep his form, heck he could even get better...

I agree, they dont even keep him on the bench most of the times. He is a talented player, he needs to play to keep his form. Celtic would be a great choice.

McFadden should have been moved along time ago.... he does not get enough playing time at Everton which also hurts the Scottish national team. I do not think he should go to Celtic.... he needs to stay in the EPL at say West Ham or Fulham.

I never thought of that option, he might get more of a chance at West Ham or Fulham than Celtic, is that what you are thinking? I suppose your right.

Scottish champions Celtic signed Germany defender Andreas Hinkel from Sevilla on Friday.

Hinkel, 25, linked up with Gordon Strachan's side after agreeing a three and a half year contract. The fee has not been disclosed.

The former Stuttgart player admitted he can't wait to play in front of Celtic's passionate supporters at Parkhead.

"Having already played against Celtic in European competition, I am well aware of the magnificent stadium and wonderful passionate support which the club enjoys," Hinkel said.

"Celtic is a great club with a great history, having achieved such success at home and in Europe. It is a great honour to join the club and I hope to play an important part in the club's future over the next few years."

Strachan added: "Andreas is someone who we have been looking at for some time and we are pleased to have finally got him to Celtic."

artur boruc commits his future to celtic
Paul Cuddihy
CELTIC have signed up Artur Boruc on a new three-and-a-half year contract that will see the goalkeeper remain at the club until at least the summer of 2011.

The news will delight supporters who have seen the Polish internationalist play an integral part in Celtic’s back-to-back title triumphs as well as helping the club reach the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League for two consecutive seasons.

Boruc joined Celtic from Legia Warsaw in 2005 and quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

And the 27-year-old’s performances, both in the SPL and in Europe, have been outstanding, with his vital save in the penalty shoot-out against Spartak Moscow ensuring Celtic reached the group stages of this season’s UEFA Champions League.

Speaking to the official Celtic website today, Boruc said: "I'm delighted to have signed this new deal at Celtic.

"I've enjoyed my time at the club immensely and I hope I'll be able to enjoy more and more success here in the future."

Celtic manager Gordon Strachan said: "Clearly this is great news for the club and we are delighted to have agreed this new extended contract with Artur.

“He has made a massive contribution to our success in the past two seasons and will hopefully continue to do so in the years ahead.”

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: “We are absolutely delighted to have successfully concluded our discussions with Artur. He is an important part of Gordon’s squad and it’s great news for everyone that he has committed his future to the club.

“The Celtic board will do all we can to support Gordon's plans for the development of the Celtic squad.

“This means, as well as continuing to strengthen the squad through bringing in new players, which we have already done in the past few days with the signing of German internationalist Andreas Hinkel, ensuring that key players remain here at Celtic Park."

Well as far as I know all Poles are already fans of Celtic. Celtic is Catholic so are 95% of Poles. They still have Boruc, got rid of Zurawski who Polish people were getting tired of before his transfer. So its a strategy yes but it would be a useless one because Poles love Celtic already. Annother reason is because they dont really have anyone else to be a fan of, which other Scottish teams have a Pole? Dundee United have Zaluska but back home most people dont really hear much about him, Gretna had Krysiak on loan but no one really likes Gretna unless you like to loose.

MARC CROSAS insists he's making the biggest move of his career after agreeing to quit boyhood idols Barcelona for Celtic in a £1.3m switch.

The Spaniard will quit Barca's New York training base tonight to complete his move to Celtic and could be paraded in front of the fans before their SPL opener with St Mirren on Sunday.

Crosas, who came through the same Barca youth system that spawned Lionel Messi and Cesc Fabregas, admits he can't wait to begin his new life in Scotland after ending a seven-year association with the Catalan giants.

Speaking from New York, Crosas said: "I have spoken with my agent and everything is on for me to sign for Celtic.

"A fee has been agreed between the clubs and my agent is dealing with all the personal terms.

"That means I should be in Glasgow on Saturday and I hope to finalise everything and undergo a medical before they play on Sunday.

"It's the biggest move of my career and I'm very excited about it. It's sad that I'm leaving Barcelona after so long but I couldn't have picked a better club to join than Celtic."

Crosas becomes Celtic's third signing of the new campaign after they snapped up Paddy McCourt from Derry City and made Georgios Samaras' move from Manchester City permanent.

Celtic will pay £415,000 up front for Crosas and £750,000 depending on appearances.

Barca have also insisted on a £1.65m buy-back clause on the deal at the end of season 2009-10 but Celtic will be delighted to get the talented midfielder on the cheap.

Hespent last season on loan at Lyon where it's believed a fee of £2m was quoted to the French champions when they opened talks about a permanent deal in summer.
