This is a subject which is extremely interesting and when you'll consider the fact that Turkish and the Greek forces are some of the Europe's finest, you'll get to the conclusion that there's sharp arguments on both sides...They both have a huge number of F-16,but they will be replaced...Greece is getting the Euro Fighter 2000 Typhoon and the Turks the F-35 Multi Joint Strike Fighter...Which one has a better "Air Fleet"????
A great debate for the Combat Aircraft fanatics such as my self and for the Patriots...

F-16s are toys. And outdated. The reason the air forces of Greece and Turkey are based on them is because both governments are puppets of the USA. Greece and Turkey are the best costumers of USA in Europe regarding military equipment, and the Americans are always "encubering" the two countries with old overvalued equipment like the F-16s.
Greece recently rejected an extremely good offer from Russia to buy S-35 Sukhoi because of pressure from USA and EU. A real pity - one more for our pathetic government .

Yeah i recently found out about that and it is pretty bizarre, considering that Greece is closing the deal for Typhoons, which can not compare with the Su-35/37...It's a great plane, but Sukhoi is a story for it self when air combat is concerned.
F-16 are good planes, but there was a trial about their "fabric flaw"which killed a lot of pilots. It was a very serious process and the American government payed to the families who lost their "pride" and they won in court.F-16 isnt All weather combat ass kicker,i mean there's so many better planes than this.
Norway,Denmark,Turkey,Belgium,Britain and Canada are on the verge of a great deal with the Lockheed Martin newest piece of art the F-35 MJSF...As far as Greece and Turkish air forces are concerned the advantage of the F-35 over Euro Fighter is significant. They are both Nato members and conflicts between them are impossible, but the Air forces raw power has certain splendor and sends a clear message...I mean i read this ludicrous statements that the Typhoon is more advanced and superior to the Sukhoi...That's a load of crap...The US are monarchs in NATO and when you'll consider their rivalry that has reached a "holy war"status with Russian Federation,it's obvious why they doesnt allow for their "partners"to own this incredible planes...Su-47 is a revelation, but it is not for anyone else except the Russians+it's still under development. Now the F-35 is better than the Sukhoi, not much, but when you see the specifications,it's one hell of machine. There's of course the Mig-35 but this one is far from realization.
What's you're opinion on the Typhoon and the MJSF????

If you search on Youtube, you will see a lot of "dogfight" videos between the pilots of these two countries.

I don't have a clear idea about the F-35 to be honest. But for various reasons I would prefer to avoid deals with USA. Especially when they can be replaced with advantagerous deals with EU countries or Russia.
I support the purchase of Typhoons in combination with SUs from Russia. The adherence to the F-16s (result of American pressure) is what I don't like. Though they are some sings that show things can change on this. This week Karamanlis visited Moscow to meet with Putin and they made interesting deals. One of the most important one is the upgrade of Greece's S-300 missile system to S-400. A deal which can open the road for new deals with Russia. I am not confident for this as our current government is very corruptible in the pressure of Washington DC, I am just making a thought.

A deal with Russia???Impossible...You know beside all that propaganda and the defense missile system,i'd pretty much bet on the Russian Missiles...When the Cold War ended and when the Russian Space programe on Rocket Engines collapsed and when the Russian engineers turned their attention to US these guys, couldnt believed what the Russian did with their New Rocket engines.Everything that the Americans denied and classified as impossible and highly risky, these guys made it a 100% efficient.Let us not forget the hitting of the U2 Spy plane on ridiculous heights.I am not insinuating that Russia is better in Weaponry, they are extremely well prepared in that aspect, but USA is just overwhelming...I mean pretty much on the top,but for missiles,Russians are the favorites here...I am still in love with the Su-30 i love that plane, but i have to admit the F-22 and F-35 are the dominant air weapons. There will be some problems with Russia and Nato allies,Puttin revitalized Russia and made it a force beyond dispute...They will grow even stronger and i am certain that the data and the experience of the Su-47 and especially from the Mig-35 will
give birth to their next Air Superiority Revelation.I really doubt that they arent already building their F-35 "reply".F-35 and F-22 are similar in design, but they cost too much...way too much...I guess it worths the trouble.
I wonder why Greece doesnt want to participate in the F-35 partnership???They arent allowed or what...It's not that Russia will hit everyone, they arent insane, but this whole thing is getting out of hand...Just like when the Cold War got greener and greener...It's one hell of a freak show and the thing is who has the best freak.
Personally i dont like the Typhoon. It's tiny,as if the Gigantic Sukhoi will have a problem slam dunking it...I was watching a show with Sukhoi and the Mig-29 and you just stare with awe how bigger the Sukhoi are when compared to the Mig-29(who are pretty big as they can be).I wonder if Russia offers Mig-31 to Greece will they refuse that???The Mig-31 is still a well preserved secret...There arent many good pictures of the plane even on internet...Mach
3 + some more is a hell of a Combat Aircraft...

The current government of Greece will refuse anything that Russia offers to Greece that the Americans don't support :thumbsdow It's a shame really since Greece has the potential to have a world power airforce but we keep rejecting anything great. Howevor I would say Greece has a strong airforce right now. But the current government of both Greece and Turkey are really just big puppets of the American government...

As i said Turkey is a partner of the International development in Lockheed Martin's F-35 and with this plane it will be equal with the greatest air forces on the planet...It will be exclusive right to only those who participated in the development of the plane...
America is the puppeteer of the whole NATO alliance...
