Korean fans have probably seen a lot of Pim Verbeek, first as assistant and then as head coach. He has just been appointed as Australian head coach, so please give us some idea about what you though about his time in South Korea........

he's a decent coach. i think the korean media were unfair to him. i think he will do australia well.

Many thanks. There has been a bit of criticism in Oz from some people who think we should have chosen Troussier over Verbeek. But I think we should give Pim a go, especially as he will be trying so hard to make a bigger name for himself.
One question, I remember reading a post in the Asian Cup that read that the Korean NT was like a B side, with many European based players missing. Was this true?

every euro player except that fck lee dg was missing.
missing players:
kim nam il - usual team captain
park ji sung - manchester united
lee young pyo - tottenham
seol ki hyun - reading at the time, now fulham
those are just the euro based players. we also had 2 of our first choice CD and RB not available.
if you actually think that this team devoid of first choice players, being A MAN down for almost the entire game against Japan was still able to beat japan (a team that beat australia) i think you can begin to see how strong korea nt is.

i think pim is a fine coach btw, it's not his fault the korean NT went to brothels and drank all night before the games in asian cup. they basically treated asian cup like a joke, which it kind of is.

Thanks for that. I was over at another football forum (not as good as this one, of course!) and there was a lot of criticism of Pim on a Korean thread. Though he did have his defenders too.
I really hope it works out for us!

Pim was an OK coach. He definitely didnt do a phenomonal job but you cant blame him for the scandal.
