The Bosmal City Centar (BCC) is a business and residential tower located in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Standing 118 metres (387 feet) high, it is the tallest residential building in the Balkans. In addition to apartment units, the complex houses several amenities, including restaurants, salons, and shops.
The Bosmal City Centar was the project of Bosnian/Malaysian firm Bosmal, created in 2001 by the Šabanović Brothers. With an overall investment valued at €80 million, the Bosmal City Centar is the largest direct foreign greenfield investment in Bosnia. The project involved nearly seventy companies and employed more than 3,500 workers.

The Avaz Twist Tower or (also called ATT) located in Marijin dvor, Sarajevo will be the new headquarters for Avaz, the popular Bosnian newspaper company.
It’s located in Marijin Dvor, Sarajevo's business district which has recently been totally renovated with the plans for the Unitic 3 and Grand Media Center. The new tower went under construction in 2006 and it is expected to be completed in August of 2008. The Avaz Twist Tower will hold the record for being the Balkan's tallest tower and one of the most interesting towers in Europe. It is made up of a twisting glass facade and will be 142 meters tall with a 30 meter antenna reaching a total height of 172 meters.

Now for the Balkans, here is the Banja Luka - Gradiska highway pretty sweet to see them building modern highways. RS is also planning a same highway connecting Doboj - Bijeljina. Anyways this is a 77 million euro project in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Athens, Greece
One of the oldes cities in the world with todays 3+ million population didnt impress me that much. Greece is about 20 years in European Union now, but it capital with all due respect remainds me more of some Middle Eastern city then one of European cities.
Please correct me if im wrong, but i was surprised to se that most pictures of Athens skyline or panorama looks like these two, and i didnt see much of skyscrapers also.
Since we have a lot of Greek members here i wanted to point this out, they will probably explain all this better then any of us.
Here are some pictures of Athens skyline!

It is forbidden by the law to build skyscrapers in Athens. This is because it is considered a historical city and will lose it's character with skyscrapers.
The very few skyscrapers that exist in Athens were build illegaly during Papadopoulos' military dictatorship.

The first picture is from Plaka, the old town of Athens. This part of the city has a traditional color and looks like a village, as it is filled with one or two floors high old houses.
In the commercial center of Athens most of the buildings are 8-10 floors high. Higher buildings are not allowed for the reason I mentioned.
And I don't see what being in the EU has to be with skyscrapers .

Really? I didn't know that man. But I think its kinda harsh. I mean you don't have to make the skyscraper some out of this world structure which is too futuristic and all. Look at what the Saudis did in Mecca. They built a Hotel right by the great Mosque and they made it look real cultural and all. I am sure the Greeks can think of something like that too. But anyways, Athens is still one of the nicest cities in the world.

See that was the whole point of this threat, to learn about and see other parts of Balkans from different point of view :) .
For example i didnt know such a law exist in Greece, and i was surprised like i said too see its capital city not looking like modern European city with skyscrapers...
See i just learned something new :D .
Btw is there any others cities like modern European cities in Greece.
For example Jerusalem in Israel is sticking by its tradition, but on the other hand you have Tel Aviv looking like Western city with skyscrapers etc..

The law applies for the other major Greek cities too like Thessaloniki, Patra, Herakleon etc. All these cities have modern-looking parts but not skyscrapers. They are no buildings higher than 12-15 floors besides some exceptions.
This law sets a maximum limit of meters a building can go up, but I don't know how many meters exactly. I will have a look at it.
Personally I agree with having this law with buildings in central Athens, but they are so many areas of Athens tens of kilometers far from the center where commercial areas with tall buildings can be built. Urban planning office of Greece has different opinion though.

Well you don't need Skyscrapers in order to look like a modern European city. Athens is a very beautiful city with many modern buildings and parts aswell. It's just Athens does not have Skyscrapers except for a few.
Airport City Belgrade
Belgrade, Serbia
What is ACB?
Airport City Belgrade (ACB) is the first multi-use commercial facility in Serbia that merges the latest in building technology, together with a tenant focused approach. ACB is more than just a group of stand-alone office buildings. It will be the first Business Park providing its tenants a ”City within a City”. For those businesses that prefer their own space, ACB will offer Tailor Made buildings for a business that want to be a part of this exclusive community and needs the flexibility and details a custom built building can offer. Upon completion ACB will be in excess of 85,000 square meters of office, and tenant-friendly retail space. Your new office will be located in much more than a nice building, it will be a part of the largest business park development in the country, where top businesses work amongst each other.

Final Plan of Verano Building in Block 23 Belgrade
Released fresh today
http://www.visuals.beobuild.net/data/media/1/071208-VN23-02.jpg
Beautiful design in my opinion. Kinda looks like a big basketball arena from the outside if you ask me. Here is its description.
Investor: Verano Group
Object info: 100000+ square metres of business space
The site is located in Belgrade's largest municipality - Novi Beograd. At the moment, Novi Beograd is the fastest growing part of city, planned to become Belgrade's City - business area of Serbia's capital - in the nearest future. The site is located next to the main route to the airport. The traffic loop links the site with highway and the biggest sports and trade centre in Belgrade - Arena. Having a property in this area opens a wide range of possibilities for future investments.

Highways are very important Nermin. Infrastructure allows people to travel from point a to point b easily. Sure, you can have the greatest towers and spectacles in the world, but if you don't have a way to get to them, then what is the point?

Highways are one of the most important things for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Millions of tourists visit Croatian coast every year, or Dubrovnik,Hvar,Korcula etc... Some of them still decide to go thru Bosnia there becoue its much closer but a lot of them dont becouse our roads are ***ked up.
When our higways are complited, they will all go thru Bosnia speceily those from Eastern Europe. Its very important !

alot of tools there, looks like something big
Well its going to be a large complex of apartments, business units, a big shopping mall, and a big school for the kids. It's going to be complete in time to house the athletes for the 25th Summer Universiade Games 2009 that are being held in Belgrade and than the people that they have already bought the spaces or apartments are going to move in, and I think most of the apartments are already sold which is cool because there is hundreds of them just in that complex and there is so many complexes in construction around Belgrade.

Belgrade- Block 41
I think some Austrian company with a Serbian company are going to build four towers, each 80 to 100 meters, three will be office spaces and one a hotel and each will have shopping centers on the lowest level. Construction starts this summer ends in 2010. Should look something like this, hopefully they cut the indoor "gardens" out.

Football club Sumardija from Kragujevac (city off the old Yugo now Zastava plant) is actually getting a new, nice stadium. I couldn't believe it either, but I think they said a while back Serbias NT will play a match here once its complete.

^ whoa looks really nice. what league does the club play for? It would suck to have a 2nd league team with this kind of a nice stadium and then have Cukaricki with a high school stadium
where do you get all this from?
3rd league...
why would a 2nd league team in Serbia be getting such a small stadium???

Indjija, Serbia
I want to share with you guys a jewl in the Balkans you probably never heard off. This is city of Indjija in Serbia, which is truely a economic jewl and just recently voted as one off the best places to invest in Europe. It is a city off about 30,000 people and it's headed by a young mayor who is maybe 32 years old now and has brought incredible investments into his city by appealing to foreign and domestic investors and is really making a foundation for the long future. Truely this is guy must be like a Maradona or Pele whichever you find better off all mayors in the world. Here are some off the factories in construction or completed in Indjija.

Here is another one. Avaz wants to built another tower next to the Avaz twist tower since they came up with more money. I'm not sure about this one, Avaz is already going to rip the Bosnian tax payers off with the first tower because they will ultimately end up paying for the first building and 2nd one is pretty much useless but free to their expense so they'll take that to their advantage off course.
Anyways here's the proposal.

Awesome pictures you got there. I like how the Avaz buildings curve and especially the top of the buildings, very fine.
Hey Pape, is there a new Partizan stadium coming or something? I've heard it's supposed to be one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world
No, and I don't think they need to worry about new stadiums. We have more important things to worry about like building factories, and buildings to make jobs and I doubt Partizan could afford a new stadium unless some foreigners come and invest in it which is doubtfull with the average attendence we get in the Balkans. So unless somebody gets a Euro or World Cup or Olympics bid I don't think anything new is comming.

^ Very true. We can't get a huge stadium going when attendance isn't very high. Much like the renovations news of Sloboda Tuzla's stadium that never happened. It was going to be a capacity about 30,000-40,000 but average attendance is somewhere near 5,000.

^ it will happen but not that big (at most 30,000 seats)
Stadium in Brcko will hold 16,000 but it will be neat stadium.
