TSL Week 15: Fenerbahce vs. Galatasaray

The derby we have all been waiting for is finally here. On Saturday these 2 giants will face off against each other, and the winner will have great spoils.

We will have our full squad at our use since Deniz is reported to be fine.

GS on the other hand might miss key playmaker Lincoln due to some kind of injury. Imo hes just scared of Lugano :p

Fenerbahce's focus will also be on next Wednesday where they will play CSKA Moscow on Match Day 6. A do or die match. So the players might not have full concentration.

If Fenerbahce win they come in 1 point of GS if we lose we will be 7 points behind them.

Nice fact: GS hasnt won at SSS in 7 years, having suffered a 6-0 loss and a 4-0 loss during these years as well. Lets keep up the tradition.

I think a 2-0 or 2-1 win should be enough, we need to save energy for CSKA

man imo CSKA is more important, we have another 19 weeks to catch up to GS if we lose but CSKA is our chance of making it to the Sweet 16 in the CL. Its either we have to beat CSKA or just hope PSV lose to Inter and honestly Inter doesnt seem to care much about the last game in the group

Look I usually don't like to talk too big especially against gs, but they almost have no chance of getting any points from this game. After the Milan catastrophe Fener has regrouped and is fired up for this game. The CSKA factor should be a plus cuz Zico wants us to come back to the SSS with good morale. Gala on the other hand is in chill mode with their bullshit win against some mediocre greek team with the help of the refs, as usual (can't believe they let that shit fly in Europe). They still don't have a settled team and even if their best player Lincoln is able to play he won't be 100%. Should be a nice 3-1, but you never know with our impeccable defense, I guess. Only way gala scores is if they capitalize on our mistakes. Nevertheless, we will clearly be the dominating team on the pitch.

I really think Fenerbahce will win this one, maybe even with ease. With our performance in Europe, we are very well used to playing against strong sides and we performed against them brilliantly (Inter away match aside, because.. come on, it's Inter). Galatasaray is nowhere near Fenerbahces class of football in recent seasons, especially this one. I'm thinking an easy 3-0 or a 2-0, but a historic score-line wouldn't suprise me. I mean, can Galatasaray even be considered a strong side this season?

We haven't lost against GS in Sukru Saracoglu for 7 years now as Omer mentioned.. and I don't see us losing the streak against this Galatasaray.

I think this seasons Fenerbahce and Besiktas derbies will prove to be a lot more exciting than Fenerbahce vs Galatasaray. They're just.. so weak in my opinion. I was watching their UEFA Cup games, and I could not believe it was Galatasaray. They've hit rock-bottom. How they're managing to stay on top of the league is beyond me. Oh well.. enjoy it while it lasts ;)

I really hope Zico gives newcomers a chance to become real Fenerli's. I want Gokhan, Kazim, Ugur, Wederson, and Carlos to score. :D All of them, but even if one or hopefully two of them score.. it'll be enough for me. There will be more games vs GS :)

The Big Day is upon us!

Its going to be a hard match for GS, away to a powerhouse side like FB who are doing reasonably well both in Europe and the TSL. FB will have a solid defense and midfield lineup for this one. But im not expecting much of the fowards. GS will have a tough job cracking that defense and im sure we will have huge holes in our midfield, esspecially through the CM and CDM areas.

Our defense will be ready however, im sure we will be able handle the FB attacks quite well however we are pretty bad at defending from the wings and im sure FB will capatalise on that through Gokhan and R.Carlos who make runs down the wing.

I dont know if Lincoln or Linderoth will play, this will be a big factor in our game. We are missng so many more experienced players and this will hurt us really bad. Im not too optimistic, because latley our form has been dissapointing. But this is football and anything can happen.

I will be watching the match at a cafe so i wont be home to comment on the progress on the match.

The second goal was pure luck and the 1st was a mistake by Orkun.. with a bit of luck the scoreline could of been different.

I read somewhere that CSKA coach is bringing a lot of reserves to Istanbul, with the intent of giving them a chance. If that is true, should be an easy match. One we could win 3-0 or with a bigger margin. Don't want to get too confident, though..

About the match, the early goal by semih really go to us. Orkun made one huge mistake of coming out, but he was unlucky that the ball slipped through his legs. It could have rebounded or something like that. But other than that i think Orkun played really well, just look at how many shots he saved. Song played really well but that tackle he did on Semih was dirty, i did not like that one bit at all. Servet and Volkan Yamam could not play together at all and Gokhan took advantage of that position to outplay them. Servet and Volkan were almost inceprable, they played too close to each other at times! Ugur did reasonably well to cover his area of the field and you have to admit that R.Carlos did play dive in that incident. Ugur is young he will learn from all of these. I think he was better than Servet and Volkan tonight. Arda did dissapoint me tonight, he showed no signs of his form he has and was not into the match at all. He became frustrated too easily and this showed when he made a silly takle on Edu and then kicked the ball out in anger. Sabri had a reasonably good match, he made some chances. Umit Karan was not there at all tonight as usual, he never steps up to big matches at all! Nonda played well and deserved that penalty, Selcuk and Lugano were all over him in that position. And Hakan Sukur still showed signs that he should be the only lone forward in this team.

As for Fenerbahce, After scoring the two goals, FB eased off the accelerator a bit and waited for GS to make those silly mistakes. The two goals FB scored were pretty lucky indeed, first one from semih could have gone anywhere but he managed to slot it in and R.Carlos's freekick happened to fall straight into Devids feet.

GS were missing some key players tonight and it showed but i congratulate FB on the win. And i would also like to give props to the Fenerbahce supporters who were very disciplined tonight.

Really happy about the performance and it makes me twice as hopeful for the CSKA match. The whole team minus Ugur played great. Edu and Lugano (especially Edu) were correct with every move, Gokhan continued to improve, Carlos was the usual amazing Carlos who refuses to get tired, Selcuk really surprised me the 2nd half but always seemed like he could make a silly mistake any second. Aurelio was everywhere like always, but did seem like he missed Deniz. Deivid scored a goal I couldn't believe really, especially after seeing the chances missed. Still it was a good hustle and I think he got sent off cheaply. His "headbutt" didn't seem red card worthy looking at the things others got away with the whole game, but it's good that these small things are being noticed so players will think twice before doing dumb shit like that. Alex was at the right places at the right times again, and his assist proved one more time that he is the most clever player in the league. I'm just not seeing the cleverness + consistency he has in other playmakers. Semih really put out a great performance considering he had to play in the middle of two DCs the whole game. He deserves more props for that goal imo, it's not that the ball just went between Orkun's legs, it's that Semih put the ball there. Wederson who got subbed in for Ugur sped up the game and put a stop to his bad performance streak with this game.

Overall, it was an enjoyable game, especially in the 2nd half. My team made me proud with the football played, and most importantly, gave me even more hope for the game on Wednesday. And I think this was a late wake up call for Galatasaray, who now have a lot to think about; Feldkamp needs to decide if he should finally agree on a system or if using the team as a scrapbook is good enough.
