The Avaz Twist Tower or (also called ATT) located in Marijin dvor, Sarajevo will be the new headquarters for Avaz, the popular Bosnian newspaper company.
The biggest tower in Balkans (2007)
It’s located in Marijin Dvor, Sarajevo's business district which has recently been totally renovated with the plans for the Unitic 3 and Grand Media Center. The new tower went under construction in 2006 and it is expected to be completed some time in 2008. The Avaz Twist Tower will hold the record for being the Balkan's tallest tower and one of the most interesting towers in Europe. It is made up of a twisting glass facade and will be 142 meters tall with a 30 meter antenna reaching a total height of 172 meters.
Before Avaz Twist Tower
Before the Avaz Twist Tower, the Bosmal City Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina held the record for being the tallest towers in the Balkans, standing at a height of 118 meters. Avaz's current headquarters have been turned into a hotel and offices. The hotel is a 5 star hotel owned by Fahrudin Radoncic and goes by the name of The Radon Plaza Hotel.
Avaz Twist Tower Information
Constructed 2006-2008
Height
Top floor 142
Antenna/Spire 174.0 m
Everything started from Fahrudin Radoncic a Bosniak journalist from the Sandžak region in Montenegro, at the end of 1995. Today, the Dnevni Avaz newspaper is part of the Avaz publishing house the biggest and most popular news house in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

That look pretty frekkin sweet.. lol.. BiH is dominating :-p.
Pretty sweet design and a cool building. But does Avaz really use the whole building? I know they are the largest paper in BiH but still that looks huge for just Avaz's offices.
Also the infrastructure in the Balkans is pretty embarassing when compared to the world around us today so I am very happy this is happening. I also remember driving to Sarajevo a few years ago they were building a 4 lane highway comming to the city which is
Here is the new Avala TV tower in Belgrade which will stand taller when its complete. It will stand at 205m compared to the old Avala TV tower that was bombed and knocked by NATO in 99 which stood at 203m with the antenna. It's due to complete in a year so it should take the top spot when its done.
So far the 3 legs have been complete and all of the other things they needed around it are complete so they are bringing in the crane to start building up on the structure which will go much quicker.

Nice cities you have up there in former Yugoslavia from what I see in these pictures. Too much green and nice looking small houses - village style.
Nothing like the smoggy monstous cities down here.

Avaz is in need for space thats the reason they are constructing the new tower. Its not about setting records, plus the office space in this building isn't that much greater then the previous building, its just that its taller. Another reason they are building it is because the old hotel is going to get converted into a Hotel (Radon Plaza), half of the current building is a hotel already. Also they might sell the building to a hotel chain. The previous (ABC) building had about two times more office space per floor then this one, but this building has more overall space because its higher.

That cannot ever be the biggest skyscraper. Why? Because Tv tower's do not count. The tallest Skyscraper is the Twist tower. ;)
TV TOWERS, AND COMMUNICATION TOWERS DO NOT COUNT AS SKYSCRAPERS!!!!
So it isn't taking no top spot at all. :) BiH is dominating in this stuff.

One interesting fact. Croats where building EuroTower 26 floors in Zagreb for two years, but ATT wich is double of that will also be finished in 2 years.
@ Šinter
Those houses will be demolished, and city bussines center will be there and in surrounding area. Sarajevo has many more plans in that area.
Also your images where pictured from worst possible angle :D .

Don't forget that the Unis Tower 3 will be completed in a few years. Construction will kick off soon. With that said we will have an stunning skyline. :) Who would have thought that Bosnia would get this far as to building the biggest Skyscraper in the Balkans a decade ago? Man we are just remarkable.

Can you guys quit posting off topic pics here! I'm about to make a thread where we can post many projects from the Balkans, ongoing, complete, and planned. We'll be seeing a great deal of this stuff in the future here because the ex-yu nations are just ready and opening up for business and investors from all over are running over one another to build in the Balkans.

This is all about Sarajevo, and i dont see GMC as off topic. But i agree with you, go ahead and open a threat about construction projects of Balkans .
Make it clear, by posting a map or something wich countries are considered as parts of Balkans so people dont post something from Azerbaijan for example:D .

I'm relaxeddd dudeee, if you want to hear wrong information and don't want it corrected go listen to a American professor....... now I love this subject and if you must I wanted to leave this for my thread but they are planning a same design to a skyscraper in Istanbul with that Twist effect which is very unique and much more exciting than the typical parallel American crapers.

To be honest, i dont know what you wanted to say with this :worried: .
Bosmal is curently the tallest building of the Balkans that is finished and in use.
ATT will be tallest when completed in August of 2008.
I had to mention Balkan in my post, becouse i was making a point. That didnt mean you should post something from other country, becouse this is about ATT and Sarajevo construction:) .
Whatever that Belgrade tower is.......Avaz Twist Tower is 142 meters tall with a 30 meter antenna reaching a total height of 172 meters.
It didnt deserved to be posted since is not taller then ATT, and it was build so simple like a box....just like Unitic Towers in Sarajevo.
ATT is something new for this part of the world...twisted tower and tallest :smoking: .
Don't confuse me. I was correct you said that Bosmal was currently the oldest tower in the Balkans at 112 meters. And I said thats incorrect because the Usce tower in Belgrade which has been in use for over a year sits at 141m and thats also in the Balkans.
And yes ATT will be tallest when complete.

For how long?
I'm pretty sure that once it's the tallest, once it's complete.. some other nation will make a tower that's taller than the ATT
Probably not for long, the next 20 years will be years of unbelievable development in Eastern Europe. It will probably be Belgrade in the Balkans, it's suppose to be the city of future for South East Europe and they just have the right land and space there to do it. There's already proposals for some 300+ meter skyscrapers foreigners want to build.

Well i would agree on this, but also there is some domestic companies who are behaind some great projects.
For example Bosmal was build by Bosnian/Malaysian companies 50/50, but ATT is made by Bosnian Dnevni Avaz.
Grand Media Center (GMC), will be build by Austrian company.
And so on........
Where is your threat Pape, im really into improvement and construction etc...hurry up , or i will open it :D
