I was just wondering whether we should break away from the uk or not???

I don't think we should because it has been a great bond between all 4 countries and I'm not sure the SNP will lead us correctly. Also we will get higher taxes and will not receive money from London. This is Just my opinion however.

I think recent polls showed that majority of people in Scotland would like to get independent from UK, so i would just respect their wishes and say YES :) !

Don't lett down Sir William Wallace, i don't think Scotland needs people like John de Menteith was!

yeah...you're right b-rabbit - we are better than that :D

i think the snp - although lead by a pretty sleazy Alex Salmond - have Scotland's best interests at heart (in contrast to the other parties with westminster ties). I think we would become a stable, reasonably rich, small country like Luxemourg or Ireland - although it may take a few years.

Recent polls have put support for the SNP at a record high but independence support as low as 20% (67% needed). But I think most Scots talk with their wallets on the issue and not their hearts. If they knew the financial truth about Scotland they would realise we could easily support ourselves so let's go for it :D ......

P.S. I do like English, Welsh and Northern Irish people and hope that we continue our close relationships after independence. However, I feel completely Scottish inside - not British - so I feel I must support seperation.

...and there is no reason why these bonds can't continue. I mean Scotland and Rep Ireland are probably closer in relations and culture than us and England or Wales and we haven't been part of the same nation for 85 years. Why couldn't the same happen if we split with the rest of the UK...

INDEPENDENCE FOR SCOTLAND AND ENGLAND, WALES & N. IRELAND :D

I know independence has certain splendor, but hey we're talking about probably the most sophisticated country in the world. They've just elected London as the capital of the world, because it's the most influential city on the planet. There's of course the benefits from which you will restrain your self and of course the financial compensation.I mean Great Britain it's not something that people can joke with...Is it so bad for you people????You can freely move through England right???Are the English harassing you in any way????You are directly concerned here so it would be nice to explain your reasons.I mean i hear a lot of things, but i am not there,so you have the purest form of informations on this matter...

yeh, well put elcino. to be honest theres a lot we dont get right here in england but the standard of living is great compared to a lot of countries and i think sometimes u have to realise to be happy with what you got because it could be a lot worse. i used to live in santiago, chile and i can tell you around the outskirts you wouldnt believe how some people are living out there.

I say yes......The UK and by the UK i mean the powers at Westminster are controlled by the UN. Scotland needs to get out of the UK before it is too late... I do not want to see Glasgow and Edinburgh turn into Londonistan & Birminghamabad.

Ive got so many reasons why Scotland should but ill only state 4.

1. England should get her independence too and more sovereignty over her own affairs, economy, military, health service and more

2. English tax payers could stop having to pay people benefits to the other countries of the UK because they cant be bothered to work.

3. England does not have her own parliament and we are the only country in europe not to have one , therefor we have no political voice.

4. We need an English first minister just like scotland has, but as we have no political voice there is no way of getting this.

Ive got plenty more but i dont want to bore you all
I voted yes.

I say go for it, then perhaps Gordon Brown can F--k off back to his own Country and get a job ruining Scotland instead of Britain.

Amazing not only all the football managers are foreign we even have the scotts managing the country it's a disgrace. I say give the PM'S job to Harry Redknapp.

^ Seriously the answer to this question is a resounding NO. They still rely heavily on money from London and the English tax payer.
