Serbia got screwed by the pot announcements. In the previous FIFA rankings before the last two qualifying matches Serbia were set to be part of pot 2. But in the last two matches Ukraine and Norway leaped above them due to Serbia's match against Kazakhstan being delayed due to snow. The match was played yesterday which Serbia won which would have put them back above them and into pot 2 but how convenient that the rankings were announced on Friday instead of Saturday.

Anyway France are definately the favourites to top the group and the second spot is up for grabs for Serbia and Romania.

I am obviously for Serbia and other former Yugo teams. I believe Serbia can get to 2nd spot. However Javier Clemente as a coach isn't all that good, he knows how to bring youth to the team but doesn't really play the smartest formats and tactics.

As much as i despise the french, they have too many talented africans not to make it. Romania impressed me during the qualifiers and in the friendly with us so i think they'll get 2nd. Serbia has lost it

Dont get so crazy about ruling Serbia out because of the recent lack of success. We almost qualified for Euro 2008 (if it was not for a stupid loss to Kazakhastan and other draws with easy teams) we would be riding to Euro with probably one of the worst teams Serbia has ever had. This team is going out of the window and be sure there will be a much stronger Serbian side for WC qualifying than what was there for Euro.

This is by far the toughest group. On paper, France looks the strongest, but watch out for Serbia and Romania -- both are very capable of beating France if they play at 100%. I can't see Austria doing much here, but they aren't exactly easy-beats either. Austria will give it all to go to 2010, and I'd expect them to be reasonably strong at home, and at the very least, competent away.

Israel is a pretty good team and same goes for Greece. Switzerland is not weaker than France and Austria. I have no idea how Romania managed to lose at home to Lithuania.

Faroe Islands - I miss that one island where they had their little stadium - I hear now they got a new stadium - I would trade away Estonia or Armenia any day to have Faroe Islands in our group. :)

This group will most likely end up like this
1. France (french will get their shi.t together and win this group)
2. Serbia (won't lose much at home but can pick up points in any away game - serbia could possibly win this group if they play smart)
3. Romania (they got that pointless loss to Lithuania)
4. Austria (come on let be honest - unless Asutria is hosting the World Cup they will never make it there - Vastic is too old now)
5. Lithuania (solid team with solid organization - they won't qualify but will play as spoilers)
6. Faroe Island (way more fun team then Estonia or Armenia)

^ It is easy to say it's a weak group when you see it unfold. You deduct it's a weak group because of Romania losing to Lithuania, because of France playing horrible, etc. But, you wouldn't have been able to tell this before the group started. You had 3 teams coming back from the EURO in this group, and it was widely considered as the group of death (or amongst the 2-3 toughest groups in qualifying). It's easy now to say it's a weak group. :)

Romania really under estimated Lithuania and we did not play 2 of our best players Mutu our striker and chivu our captain and defender. When we played France we did pretty good scoring 2 goals in the first half and getting scored on 2 goals in the second half. Its a ruff start but Romania i think will beat Serbia 2-1 we play hard when we are hungry and we need a win or we are in trouble. But anything can happen may the best team win.

Austria has beaten everyone so far except for us..We beat them home 3-1 and probably could have been more. Romania got cheaped out of the last game pretty much. Austria has horrible technique and that's where Serbia is great and should own the match in Belgrade. But we'll see how it goes.

The game is supposed take place in August, and by then I hope our players will be in full form. I know Krasic will in a bigger club(Real Madrid), and Jovanovic said he will be leaving Standard Liege over the summer to the EPL most likely to Everton or Aston Villa. If Jankovic keeps on playing the way he is for his club and country I wouldn't be sprised if he ends up in Juventus by next year. Ivanovic will most likely leave to the Serie A since he's too good to be on Chelsea's bench. I think he'l be at either Inter, Juventus, or AC Milan who have all showed tremendous interest in him. I hope all the young and talented players in our league like Aleksic, Tadic, Obradovic, Milic, Ignjovski, Mrkela, etc stay in our league as long as possible instead of going to big clubs who have shown interest.. Our team is definitely twice the team it was in 2006, and it's not so definsively orriented. Once Argentina enters the Marakana with 60,0000+ crazy & loud fans, they will be in for a pretty nasty suprise. ;)

He has two appearances this year..One last week against Sevilla and one against Barca today and in both games he was voted MOM or as in the Spanish papers "HERO"

Anyhow, the GOLTV announcers kept calling him BIG VLAD because he is a big time player. He saved literally 6 goals. The only goal that was scored was off of a deflection on one of his defenders legs which was given to Messi.

Which Argentina game are you talking about? He was barely 22 for the WC(for Goalkeepers that like a 17 year old striker playing at WC match).

About the "best in Europe"
You don't get the inside joke on that like the rest of us Serbs do. A while back when Stojkovic played an International game with Serbia..before the match he went on saying in an interview: "I am the best goalkeeper in Europe"
After that we've all called him best goalkeeper in Europe. But so far he hasn't dissapointed.

He has 2 club matches under his belt and in both of them he was Man Of Match or as I like to abbreviate MOM :)
Those were both big clubs Sevilla and Barcelona!

Secondly, he hasn't disappointing once for Serbia.
I can't remember the last time that we allowed a goal and it was his fault. That's how good he's been. I already mentioned the two penalties he saved against Argies! :)

mentily thats something that made the players even the fans think its done and we should chill as if it was the last min of the game.

during the game the air was shut down as it was 911 all over again by bane,vidic and zigic.and they could not do nothing about it.

i was also very happy with the defence.its not like we played with a micky mouse team and we have showed we in top of the wrold when it comes to it.

this was the coolest thing.in the bigining of the game at the stands they resled a huge flag.this was the bigest flag ever reported at the football game (90x30) so we broke the record from argetinas bombonjera stadion wich was like (70x30) and some one said this flag was 50 kilos,and now we going at Guinness World Record book...i was under that bitch :D i have the video on my mobile of that flag going over me

I rather play Serbia than France, no matter how disorganized and in bad shape France is right now, they still have amazing talent on their team, and I doubt FIFA would allow a powerhouse like France get knocked out by BiH.
