Casillas facing Capello axe at Real Madrid
August 21, 2006
Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello is ready to dump Iker Casillas for backup goalkeeper Diego Lopez on Wednesday for the Bernabeu Trophy clash with Anderlecht.
Capello has been impressed by Lopez in preseason training and favours the larger-framed youngster over Casillas.
AS says Real staff are concerned with Casillas' approach in training. The Spain No1 has reportedly become more introverted, serious and coaching staff are worried about his confidence going into the new season.
If Lopez passes his test on Wednesday night, Capello will seriously consider going with him in the Liga proper - though he does have concerns with the keeper's lack of experience

I heard from reporters that this is a duck.
It would be insanity. Casillas is one of the top 3 goalies in the world and has been the heart and reliability of the squad for years.
I think its being done to motivate our other goalies

Lance, you and your sources.:sleepy:
Casillas is the best keeper on the face of the earth behind Buffon.
Diego Lopez is someone who has his back when Casillas is either injured or killed.

First of all Casillas is not in the top 10 goalies in the world.
Second he has not been that reliable last year.

without Casillas Madrid would have been 1 league lower this season.
believe me.
The only keeper better than him = Buffon.
Cech is amazing too, but for his size he can't beat Casillas reflexes.:sleepy:

strange....Well each year UEFA helds a poll where managers of all club name the best keepers, and as far as I concerned Cassilas was one of the best, and definetly got more points than Kingston, Khan or Van Der Sar, and more.

Capello is the most boring coach.
And his last team cheated to be number one.
We all remember how boring Juventus looked. The last match against Villarreal looked like boring Italian football to me.

Lopez demands Real Madrid exit
January 29, 2007
Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez has asked for a move away.
Lopez and his agent met with Real sports director Pedja Mijatovic last week to ask for a transfer before the winter market closes. But Mijatovic told Lopez the club weren't willing to release him halfway through the season.
The 25 year-old remains frustrated and is sure to try again this week, particularly with Valencia, Real Zaragoza and Deportivo La Coruna queuing up to speak with him.

he is a GREAT goalie, 2 bad he has an even GREATER goalie ahead of him(casillas), or else he has the potential 2 be a *er 4 any big club, he is even better than valdes(who is protected by a great defense)

i kinda grew fond of him i hope he doesnt leave. but career wise he should he cant gt first team spot when a player like cassillas is ahead of him. but the goal keeper of the castilla is quite promising too so we should be ok if anything happen

Casillas: Barcelona like Real Madrid of 4 years ago
November 23, 2007
Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has hinted Barcelona's cycle could be coming to an end.
While refusing to discuss Edmilson's "black sheep" comments this week, Casillas did say: "I cannot give any advice to Barcelona. Four years ago something similar happened to us and it was the fault of everyone involved.
"We are only interested in what is happening inside our dressing room. No. I won't offer any advice to Barcelona. If they have problems, there will be people there dedicated to fix it.
"Sometimes the world outside the field is a fantasy."
On comments from Real president Ramon Calderon that no amount of money could buy him, Casillas added: "I want to thank the president for his words, it is important to be comfortable in your own home and that you're appreciated."

Dudek unsettled at Real Madrid
December 05, 2007
Jerzy Dudek admits he could be forced to ask away from Real Madrid in January.
The Poland keeper, 34, wants to book a place in Leo Beenhakker's Euro 2008 squad.
He said: "I'd like to leave. I've been told I must play more."

Real Madrid coach Schuster tells Dudek he's staying December 06, 2007
Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster has told Jerzy Dudek to forget about a move away in January.
Dudek wants first team football to strengthen his chances of making Poland's Euro2008 squad, but is being forced to play second fiddle behind Iker Casillas at Real.
"I understand the situation of the player," said Schuster last night. "But the important thing is this club and I cannot see him leaving during the winter market."
For his part, Dudek said: "I will accept the decision of the club. It's obvious they want two great goalkeepers at their disposal."

Casillas resists new long-term Real Madrid contract offer
January 09, 2008
Iker Casillas has resisted an offer from Real Madrid to discuss a new long-term contract.
Marca says Madrid chiefs want to secure Casillas for life, but the goalkeeper is happy with his current deal, which runs to 2011.
Real won't withdraw the £8 million-a-year offer, however, which will remain on the table until the end of the season.
