Australia's golden boys Harry Kewell and Tim Cahill have been named in the Socceroos squad to face Nigeria on November 17 but it is the inclusion of an uncapped trio that has raised some eyebrows.

Joining fit-again duo Kewell and Cahill will be World Cup stars Lucas Neill and Brett Emerton while in-form Celtic striker Scott McDonald, who has scored 11 goals in his last nine games, and Scott Chipperfield return after their self-imposed absences from the Asian Cup.

Mark Viduka, Jason Culina, Mark Bresciano, Vincenzo Grella and goalkeepers Brad Jones and Michael Petkovic were not considered due to injury.

Acting national team coach Rob Baan named a 19-man squad consisting entirely of overseas-based players.

Goalkeepers Nathan Coe and Adam Federici make the cut as deputies to Mark Schwarzer while Olyroos midfielder James Wesolowski is a surprise call-up - considering Australia's U-23 side faces what is its key 2008 Beijing Olympic Games qualifier against Iran in Gosford on November 17.

Former Socceroos skipper - and current Central Coast Mariners assistant coach - Alex Tobin will be Bann's right hand man for the match at Craven Cottage.

The clash against world No. 19 Nigeria is Australia's final scheduled international ahead of its World Cup qualifying campaign opener.

Socceroos squad is: Michael Beauchamp (Nurnberg, Germany), Tim Cahill (Everton, England), Nick Carle (Genclerbirligi, Turkey), David Carney (Sheffield United, England), Scott Chipperfield (Basel, Switzerland), Nathan Coe (Copenhagen, Denmark), Brett Emerton (Blackburn, England), Adam Federici (Reading, England), Josh Kennedy (Nurnberg, Germany), Harry Kewell (Liverpool, England), Patrick Kisnorbo (Leicester City, England), Scott McDonald (Celtic, Scotland), Lucas Neill (West Ham, England), Mark Schwarzer (Middlesbrough, England), Mile Sterjovski (Genclerbirligi, Turkey), Michael Thwaite (Wisla Krakow, Poland), Carl Valeri (Grosseto, Italy), James Wesolowski (Leicester City, England), Luke Wilkshire (Twente, Netherlands).
