Just a question if anyone can confirm my answer is correct.
A relative of mine says that a tin can exploded in a cupboard in the kitchen.
The can contained fruit. The tin was approximately a year over it’s sell by date. When finally opened the fruit was found to be black.
My theory is that there may have been a small hole in the tin caused either by a drop, rust or a flaw in manufacture.
Because air was able to get to the fruit due to the hole it began to decompose and as it did so gave off gases.
When the pressure of the gases got to a level that the tin could no longer contain it exploded.
Is this plausible?
