Barcelona board puts Ronaldinho up for sale
October 31, 2007
Barcelona's board are ready to sell Ronaldinho.
While the official line is that "no offers will be considered", AS says several board sources are suggesting the opposite and that the Brazilian is on the market.
For now, no offers have arrived for Ronaldinho, but Barca won't rule out selling the former World Player of the Year in January should the right bid be made.
Directors are convinced Ronaldinho's best years are behind him and as he has only completed 90 minutes twice this season are ready to cash in.
Meanwhile, Barca captain Carles Puyol insists they need Ronaldinho: "He is most important for us.
"If we want to win trophies, we need him to stay. He may not always play well, but he has a good attitude and is working hard."

I think the barca board is making a huge mistake! What are they talking about "..ronaldinho's best years are behind him."? Ronaldinho is still a great player. i may not think that he is THE best, but i think he is one of the best, and he contributes a lot to Barca.
IMO he's not among the very best players at the moment, to be honest he's not even close.

I heard during the summer transfer Chelsea's owner Abramovich was highly interested in Dinho. It will be great for Chelsea to have another play maker in the team. So i'm highly interested to know if he will be heading to EPL ...Chelsea in particular.

I hope he doesn't leave but if he does we got a player to replace him, Gio Dos Santos! ^^

it wont be that bad for barca ... they have great strikers in Messi and once Henry gets situated he will also be good... this will also give Giovani some more play time

Seems like gossip to me.
Just posted yesterday on Barca's site:
"Rijkaard admitted that seeing Ronaldinho begin to rediscover his best form had made him very pleased: "I am happy for him," the trainer said. "He is improving little-by-little and we could see that he is a fundamental player for us by the way that he brings such happiness to the team. He played 90 minutes and worked very well. He can still give so much to this club. He is taking players on again and has shown that he can make the difference."
This doesn't leave the impression they expect to do away with him..

Why is it that when a player starts to not play their best, then people start to think that that player is losing their touch?

I just can't help but think so much of his not playing so well is/was nothing more than taking a step back and doing setup's for Messi. There has been MANY games where I saw him setup Messi instead of pressuring through himself. I believe it's been purposeful support for Messi and nothing much more. Granted he has been injured but again I don't think that's entirely the cause.

if i was ronaldinho i would go back to brazil and help boost the football there, he's going to be 30 just now,
plus i can understand why barca want to sell him
two reasons actually
cash out now
and
give some youngster a spot in the starting eleven

He was great today. I think keeping him for a few more years couldn't hurt. He's been at his best for so many years, people think he lost his touch just because of a few games. All players go through this.
If he does leave, he's more than welcomed at Fenerbahce. :D

its not that he lst his touch
its because
1) they want tocash out now
2) give some youngster a stead spot in the starting eleven, either Borjan(sp) or Dos Santos

if thats one of the reasons, then I think Barca should start these young stars in a game and see how well they do. if they do better than how Dinho is doing , then I will have no problem if they sell him.

It's Bojan :D
Barcelona might be makimg themselves more money by selling a talented player every year than they would winning the CL. :D
