I was wondering why a lot of people hate Ciro? I don't know whats going on so could someone tell me why everyone hates him?

Ciro makes some pretty bad decisions at times. He ignores some players, while calling up other players that shouldn't be there. He says stupid things to the media, that puts added pressure on the players.

He is too conservative, and doesn't want to change anything with the NT. Not qualifying for EURO should be the wake up call he needs to make changes. I haven't seen any yet. He called up a few players like Zivkovic recently, but even that was only a little change.

Our major mistakes in EURO qualifying were the first game against Ireland, and the game against Makedonija. In the first game we only had two shots on goal, having used four strikers. We didn't look at all prepared for the game, nothing went right. Ciro has the responsibility of preparing the team mentally for all games. This was the first competitive game after WC and we looked the worst I've ever seen the team. Just imagine if we won that game, or even tied it what a difference it would have made in qualifying. We wouldn't have gone into the last game needing a win, we could have played for a tie, and it would have been much easier.

In the Makedonija game, we played well the first half, but in the second half we sat back and let the Makedonci attack. How could he let the team play like that, sitting back and trying to defend against a weak team like Makedonija??? Where's the logic in that?

Prosinecki won't play for him anymore because of the way he treated him. Before th first game against the SErbs in Beograd, Ciro says "Prosinecki will be the trump card in Beograd" This comment came after he had trash talked Robi. He goes back and forth like a yo-yo.

I don't like the guy, haven't liked him for years now. He may have coached the team to 3rd place in WC, but he had a great team, who didn't need any motivation from the coach.

I don't think everybody hates the guy, I'm sure he's got enough supporters but most of them are political supporters.

Shit I never knew that. My dad tells me that his favorite coach so far was a Tomislav Ivic and that he guided the NT to a win against Italy in Italy during Euro 96 qualifers. What happened to him, did he quit or get fired?

He was actually assistant coach. He did coach that game against the Italians, I'm not sure where Ciro was for that, I can't remember. He was a good coach, but a little too old now.

Ćiro is the most succesful coach and he has proven it. He was the best coach of the world cup, but, as I heard, he's involved in transfers of the players so he tries to promote them through NT. For example: that's why Josip Šimić played last 10 minutes against Yugoslavia and missed a 7m shot instead of putting someone more experienced for such moment, but Ćiro wanted to make a star out of him, so he gambled 'cause this was a right moment. I think he was 'in the business' for quite a long time and to many negative things went rong way. Why hedidn't coach Italy game when Ivić won - i think he was in French prison at the time - not exactly a nice place.
He was a friend of the president and made some stupid statements concerning politics that failed. He earned a LOT of money through NT, much more than players that actualy earned that success. As far as I'm concerned - he should go. His place should be taken by Barić or Ivić or someone younger as we are all witnessing much more modern and offensive football these days - something that only a very good coach can offer, one that follows the trends and doesn't stick to his own system all the time.
Well, that's my opinion, correct me if I'm wrong.

Last time Ivic was "assistent coach" was somewhere arount 1970, and he certainly never was an "assistent" to Ciro. How can a legend be an assistent to a comedian?

Back in 1994 when the match in Palermo was being played (and Ciro was in French prison due to the Tapie case), Ivic was in fact "director of the national team", i.e. officially, he was Ciro's boss, so he took over temporary, only for that one match.

He quit that position for several reasons, one of them being lot of money that he got from some Arabic country (can't remember which one), and the other the obvious dualism within the team management, i.e. him and Ciro couldn't stand each other.

Ivic is today, sadly, a wash-out, and ex-coaching-legend, similar to Yugoslavian coach Boskov. Having him on the national team, might end in a disaster similar to the Yugoslavian one.
