Espanyol prepare for star Riera sale

Espanyol won't consider selling wing ace Albert Riera this season.

Riera stunning form for club and country has attracted serious interest from two Spanish and two Italian clubs, with Fiorentina and Real Madrid being linked.

El Mundo Deportivo says the only chance of Riera being prised away from Espanyol is if a club is prepared to meet his £16 million buyout clause.

However, Espanyol directors are resigned to losing the winger at the end of the season and sports chief Paco Herrera is already drawing up a shortlist of potential replacements for the Spain international.

Espanyol winger Albert Riera can't rule out leaving at the end of this season.
A target for Real Madrid and Fiorentina, Riera said: "Espanyol has given me everything I want. I have tranquility, stability, confidence and I thank the club for the efforts it made for me last summer.

"But it's another question about joining a bigger club. Every player has in his mind plans to move to a team considered a great one."

Riera seems to be on his way out and up, most likely to Madrid but who knows
