I don't know which place they are in footballing-wise but when it comes to knowledge in the media and the supporters, Japan is pretty far down.

FIFA's ranking of Japan is 30th.
Actually they are supposed to be placed around 50-80th.

Does Japan even deserve to take part in World Cup?
I bet they don't.
Brazil 4-1 Japan
Australia 3-1 Japan
Croatia 0-0 Japan
Also this year,
Korea 6-5 Japan
Saudi Arabia 3-2 Japan

Yeah I'm a Japan fan but I can tell you Australia ranks higher than Japan especially with their performance in last years world cup. Iraq #1? I'll have to see them play and qualify first...

i don't think australia ranks higher than japan. japan beat australia in asian cup and australia struggled against very easy opponents. mind you iraq also won the tourny

There is no such thing as deserve or don't deserve. If your in the WC then you basically deserve it by successfully qualifying. :)

The countries that are worthy of taking part in the WC are the ones that qualify. That's black and white and all contestants should be respected for making it.
The only thing I don't like about Japan is what my girlfriend tells me about Japanese media and the supporters. They seem out of touch with current events. Everytime it's standardized predictions that your little sister would make as well.

Japanese media and supporters think they are the best though they have shown nothing special so far. They are really idiotic.
