Its been common knowledge for a while now, but the most recent reports have it that Dick Advocaat has agreed to become head coach of Australia after his contract finishes with his Russian club in November.
Advocaat has a pretty impressive CV both at club and international level, including critical (to my way of thinking) Asian WC experience.
Any thoughts or comments?? You can read a general (and hopefully accurate) introduction to the man at Wikipedia.

Not sure how he'll do without having £100m to spend!

I guess they don't call him Dirty Dick for nothing. Of course, by now, everyone will know that Advocaat has pulled out of his contract to stay with Zenit. It might be more more accurate to say that representatives from Gazprom handed over a few fat cases of rubbles to sweeten the deal.
To be honest, it doesn't matter in the end. We are shot of someone whose heart clearly wasn't in it. Yes, the WC playoffs begin in February, but there is apparently a lot of interest in the job from many quarters.
I'm not going to mention any names since the media is already thick with candidates, all rumoured to be interested.
I think its best to let the FFA sort it out.

I see what you mean. As time went on, he always looked 50/50 about taking the job.
