its a pretty hard group but Inter does make som mistakes everytime theyre in Cl, I actually think PSV might take first spot since they did so well last season and theyre very stable as for Moscow its probably a hard away game, but still a better draw than Besiktas i think

Well, there is no easy group at this stage. We're among Europes finest. Of course every single match will be hard, but this is what we've been building ourselves towards. We don't transfer players for TSL, we do it for CL.

Inter, I hardly doubt we can beat them. We could possibly manage a draw in Kadikoy, and it'd be a nice boost. I'm concerned though, with the first game being against Inter.. If we lose bad, it'll be hard to bounce back from.

PSV, we beat them in Istanbul when they had a better squad, and while our team wasn't as good as they are today. We'll manage a win at home, and could even get a draw away.

CSKA, I'm looking at two wins. With that, we would have 11 points and easily qualify.. and even if we win at home and draw in Moscow, we can still qualify with 9 points.

This could be the season for Fenerbahce. I really hope it is. :)

Man, everything is goin good for Fener in Europe this year, we have had 2 great draws. I actually think we can pull of 2nd place here or at least 3rd and continue in UEFA.

I expect to beat the russians twice, but we might underestimate them at first so we might lose. Inter does have a tendency to do bad in europe but i still expect a loss against them. PSV i expect a victory at home and at least a draw away.

In reality i believe we can win all games at home. and draw at least 2 away

I really think we will come out strong and give Inter a tough game. If we get a draw or even better a win. This will give us an unbelievable advantage...And fb and psv still have some unfinished business from the past years IMO :D ...But the yea, i also believe we will underestimate the russians.

Fenerbahce might have a chance against Inter since they have Maicon quarantined and Chivu, Materazzi, Burdisso, Cordoba, Samuel are all injured. Basically their complete defensive line!! Samuel is the only one that might be fit to the match other wise they only have Rivas as a central defender for the match, with Dacourt or Viera as alternatives to play as Central Defenders
Yeah, if Fener can ever beat Inter, it's now. They have like half the squad missing and we only have Serdar, Appiah, and Tumer out.

I can't wait till I get to see Appiah playing again, though. We're really going to need him in the CL.

Well more than likely we are gonna finish 2nd so i am gonna go ahead with the possible teams we can match up with for the next round.

Since we are 2nd we must play a team that has finished 1st.

Those teams are:

Porto
Chelsea
Real Madrid
Milan
Barcelona
Man. Utd
Sevilla

Obviously the easiest team to beat would be Porto in fact if we got them i believe we would be the favorites.

Honestly it wouldnt matter who we got after that, we'd be underdogs no matter wat. But if we can pull off a draw away then we can definetly beat any team at home. But we are going to need all our players to be in form. But just getting to the Round of 16 would be an honor for us, anymore would be just a cinderalla dream come true

Fenerbahce will do alot of damage in the next round. their team is swarming with Turkish internationals and some Brazilian internationals and with strikers such as Senturk, Ugur Boral, Kezman, Deivid, they will have a strong striking force. ;)

Porto, Milan, or Sevilla would be the best choices. Milan because they aren't good at all this Serie A season and are struggling with their old players. Sevilla because they're struggling in the second table in Spain and they previously lost 3-0 against Arsenal.

The draw is on the 21st of December. I also think drawing with Porto or Milan would be good. Sevilla...nahh..they're playing too good. I'd rather draw with Chelsea than Sevilla.

well honestly right now, i usually woulda been here typing up a nice post on well we did this year, and we'll do better next year but not this time. :D

We are through to the quarterfinals. That means we are one of the top 8 teams in Europe.

On Friday, March 14, 2008 a draw will take place deciding who plays who in the quarter finals and semifinals.

Right now we only know of 3 teams who we can play, the rest will be chosen tomorrow.

As of know we know:

Machester United ( I want to stay as far as possible from this team)

Barcelona (aint too intrested in them either)

Arsenal ( Would be an intresting match up)

And today 3 other teams have book their ways to the quarter finals. Schalke, Roma, and Chelsea.

Liverpool and Inter Milan will play next week.

Well since we know most of the candidates, i would like to say which one i favor. IMO the easiest draw for us would be Roma. Schalke for carry some kind of bad vibe for me and i just dont want to play them. Revenge would be sweet but revenge doesnt always work.

God i'm so damn nervous. And on the other hand i'm so damn happy. I wish they'd get on with this draw already.

I'm so proud of this team yet i'm also shit scared for them as well. I wanna us to play in the elite 8 but i dont want our team to get embarrased 4-0 either. ugghhh i'm so confused

I doubt Fener would get an asswhooping from any team in the top 8 this year. We're done playing like pansies. We don't let go of the game after getting scored on anymore. I'd believe in this squad even if we were playing the 2nd leg in Camp Nou trying to come back from a 2-0 loss on the first leg. Sure we can lose, but at least we'll lose like we did in San Siro. Putting in our best effort.

I agree. I voted for Fener to be the biggest new suprise in the CL this year and it was just that. The next draw will most probably bring a loss to Fener but you can't lose all of your hope and it would be amazing if they pulled it through. I'll keep rooting for Fener all as long as they don't get ManU, hell I'll even root for Fener if they go against my spanish side, Barcelona, just because they've had their success and don't need more.

Anyways football is a funny game.

The thing i hate about our board is that after one game hemen havalara giriyorlar. Now all of sudden they are making promises to win the CL. This is ridiculous. They should concentrate on each game 1 by 1.

BTW I've added up the amount of money we have made from UEFA this year.

And it is a staggering 14.7 million euros. I've added the bonus of making it to the quarter finals + the match bonus of 400,000 for each game played.

We might have made more, i'm not sure if we got money for the qualification round.

And even if we lose in the quarter finals, we are supposed to get around another 30 to 35 million euros from the tv revenue.

Great news! yah i was reading the news... Turkish Daily and they said Fenerbahce's shares or something on the Istanbul stock Exchanged went up by 50%!! And increasing the Revenue by a fivefold since 2004

Bring on any team i say, any match from now on in the CL will be a bonus for FB to learn from and form an experience for later years.

Fenerbahce will be a team that will be talked about for years to come in Europe because of the way they played this season. With alot of heart and passion. I beleive that they can go even further right now and who ever comes in their way should watch out.

Football is a 90 min match, it does not matter of the past, its what happens inside those 90 mins that count. Any team can have a powerhouse of players, world class stars, amazing management and supporters. But its up to one team to take control of the match at any point.

As i have said before, i really want FB to play a team like Man United or Barcelona etc etc.

Guys where would u rather play first away or at home.

I'm stuck on this quesiton cause if we play away first we dont have G.Gonul for that game so it will be harder than usual finding goals away. And our right side will be completly useless. But if we play at home first we could prbly win without G.Gonul do to home field advantage.

But i think Lugano's on the edge as well for the yellow card suspension and so are other players and if we dont win convincley at home and Lugano gets a yellow at home, then we are screwed for the away leg.

yeah, Gokhan is the biggest problem in the 1/4 final.

I say play away first game, just as you said it'll be harder to find a goal without Gokhan (which he'll miss the forst leg) so id rather play away, with a more defending type defender Onder, Gokhan runs up the right side alot and I wouldnt wanna get caught on a counter and concede a goal or goals,

while at home I think we'll score no matter what.

i thought sevilla was all technique and no strength conditioning. arsenal is built the same way.

man utd is built on strength, they hold the game at their opponents side of the field. we are not much of a counter attack unit. even though we have scored a few goals that way, this isnt our style. we look shaky when were on full defense, so id rather not play them.

chelsea would be a good test for us. they are built our very own characteristics, but at a higher level. if we can match their pace we will have a chance against them. we would need a solid game at home.

schalke is a good team, porto is a difficult team to beat, but only scoring 1 goal shows they have a weak offense, so they built on counterattacks. they defend well, but we would beat them as an ordinary tsl team.

roma, one of the scary teams to go against, unpredictable. people have rated the team highly but im not sure about that. real madrid's schuster isn't much a tournament coach. real had a tough time in the group stagesm and it was seen in the game against olympiacos. but nonetheless team will be hard to play against.

barcelona, they are a pure attacking team. they will often score, and when we usually get scored on, its about 2 goals on average (in the CL). so they will score and thats the bad part. even though they are doing poorly without messi, im sure he will be back, and that is not a good thing.

inter / lpool, both dangerous idk lets see who wins,

on the matter of home / away to be the first game? the advantage is being at home second time around.

Well this is gonna be one hell of a fight. Chelsea's defense have only let in 2 goals during the whole CL, but their opposition well werent really much of an opposition: rosenberg, Olympiacos, Schalke, and Valencia..

They have 2 away draws and 2 away wins. Imo we can beat them in Istanbul but its gonna take everyone playing perfectly and we need Maldonado to get into form asap.

Our biggest problem is in the goalie area imo, Volkan's serving a 4 match ban in the TSL so he'll be unfit when matchday comes and Serdar just got back from injury so Zico's gonna have to choose between Volkan and Serdar.

Gokhan being out of the first leg sucks, we could of really used him to exploit their left side. And Lugano is on the brink of a ban if he gets another yellow, and without Lugano i doubt we can survive in Chelsea.

Fenerbahce will have one hell of a time. But the team must focus on not getting scored on in the first 10 minutes. i remember when i watched our game against Dynamo Kiev, we got destroyed in the first 10 minutes, and then it happened again in the Sevilla, with a lot of them in between those matches. we have a solid team, that can set the pace. we play well against attacking teams, and do so-so with counter attacking minded teams. we had trouble in Spain, and Sevilla was an attacking team. so expect the same type of result in London. Fenerbahce needs to score at least two goals. what makes it difficult is the part that the blues will attack hard, just like Sevilla. but if Fenerbahce get on a roll at home, they can destroy any team in Europe by 3 goals. if they can do this, this will move onto the next round for sure. Chelsea might be doing well at home, but on their away matches they don't do much, and i think them visiting turkey will make them delusional. My prediction is 4-2 if Fenerbahce can pull off an upset at home, if not, then 3-2 Chelsea.

I think the most interesting side of this match up is Anelka coming back to Kadikoy and Kezman going back to Stamford Bridge.

We're going to have to work extra hard to keep our right wing working without Gokhan Gonul. Not to mention the soft spot next to Aurelio, with Selcuk's recent horrendous form. I'm not worried about the goals because we somehow manage to do that just fine in almost every game. What I'm worried about is a new and improved Ballack and a hard to hold Lampard, especially with Edu's bad habits.

I'm hopeful, though. It's not an impossible game. If we play like we've been playing, there is no reason why we shouldn't eliminate Chelsea.

Not sure which team plays at home first, but if it is Fener then they need to win the home game by 2 goals if possible. If they go back to Stamford Bridge all square Chelsea will do some real damage to them. Apart from the Barnsley blip in the FA Cup, Chelsea have been playing very well of late.

All in all, a very tough tie forfor the Turkish side.

I don't think anyone rigged the draw. Someone speculatively took a wild guess which proved correct! And of course, once it was proved correct it spread like wildfire. The bookies in the UK were still taking bets and trust me, they are super quick at shutting up shop if they smell a rat.

hell yeah, heard about it last night, a forum member from a liverpool page predicted the draw before. The chances for predicting the quarter finals are 1:64, maybe he had big luck, maybe something wrong . . .

im sure you have taken pre-algebra

try this, n-1, where n= 8 because of the amount teams

8-1 = 7, so for probability its always 1 over (n-1)

then you find out the configurations of the set up
you have 2 teams coming together

the new amount - 2

so it will be 1/7 times 1/5 times 1/3 times 1/1

and you will get 105

so the probability is 1 / 105

- i like how people just assume its 8 times 8

So now that Fenerbahce have drawn against Chelsea, what are your predictions?

I beleive Fenerbahce will play well at home in Kadikoy and should win if everything goes right.

2-1 or 1-0

but i cant see them winning the match away at Stamford Bridge, i think they will lose 3-1.

Its highly unlikely that FB can pull of a clean sheet at Stamford, but it can possibly happen if Volkan keeps at his best and Carlos, Lugano, Edu, Gokhan partnership is at 110% AND IF LUGANO DOES NOT RECIEVE A SENDING OFF :lol:

Alex, Aurielo, Kezman etc have to all be on their best game. From here on it will get tough but i truly think that FB can handle it.

You know, i am happy because we will have 3,500 fans inengland, so i have a feeling all of these players will be at 120% with that many fans in england. Hopefully we will pull it off.

i think its going to be difficult for fenerbahce, because they playat besiktas the game prior to our first meeting, then in between the champs league games we play kayseri at home. while chelsea have no games.

The game prior for chelsea is middlesbrough. Which will most likely see them field a different team.

Yes maybe it will have an affect on them, but not that much, i mean these guys have been playing heavy schedule football for most of their careers, they should be used to it by now.

He's just pointing out the schedule coming, Sin. No matter how you look at it, a derby before the 'big game'.. can not have a positive effect on the team. It's the kind of information that should be mentioned.

But, no hard feelings.. I understand how hard it must be to comprehend the importance of that when your own team is involved in only.. one.. single.. competition..

man i just checked the espn listings and i got bad news. They are showing Arsenal vs. Liverpool live on ESPN 2 instead of our game, and at 5:00pm on espn classic they're just gonna show a rerun of arsenal vs. liverpool.

The only way we can watch fenerbahce vs. chelsea is if u have ESPN Deportes which i dont have and thats y its bad news.

There are only 2 channels here in Australia which has the rights for Champions League, both channels show the same F'n game each matchday

Bloody Arsenal - Liverpool is on both channels in two weeks.

I guess I have to stick to the net again. (gotta admit mad quality for free as well =P)

Well good luck with Espn or whereever it might be showing :))) i will be in the stadium (Sukru Saracoglu) on April 2 for the first game, aren't i lucky or what?:))

i extended my stay in istanbul for 11 days just to see this game in real Hell (Saracoglu). i hope it will be worth it. i was on the phone trying to call Biletix for 5.5 hours just to get to the sales rep. and finally i made it and got my ticket to the most important game for Fenerbahce and our history. i hope we can win.

my prediction is Fenerbahce 2 - Chelsea 0

Well i would gladly prove it. Not only pictures. i have videos and pictures that i took in the game. i went to the game 1 camera (35 mm for pictures) and 1 video recorder camera (digital).

İ knew we were going to beat Chelsea,. (check my early posts). i wouldn't have missed the oppurtunity to capture this history being written in Sukru Saracoglu. Hey Zare if you want, i could send you the copy of my ticket as well, because i keep all the tickets this year all the way to the final. i was lucky to see Cska Moskova, Sevilla and Chelsea game in Sukru Sracoglu this year. Hopefully i will see the game in Moscova as well.
