What is your thoughts on the game ahead????

I personally think we should take the first game by the scruff of the neck and win 3-0. Ferguson will be a key player for us and hopefully Boyd will be back for this game.

We need to do this to get the £10m we need to catch up even further with Celtic.

Red Star is not the same Red Star of the past...... This should be a relatively easy match, especially if Boyd is back..... I think Carroll should be in net for this one as well!!

^ That was in 1990/91 season not the 2007/08, and after looking at the new guy we have it looks as though we might make it harder for your team this time round. No video of a match 17 years ago will change my mind that we are going to win convincingly in the first leg ;)

Rangers 1-0 Crvena Zvezda

Very poor performance from Rangers tonight, Red Star huffed and puffed and frustrated Rangers all night. I must say I was wrong and I was rather surprised by how badly we played. Novo's goal spared our blushes tonight and we really need to improve when we travel to Belgrade. The frustrating thing was that Walter Smith played a defensive tactic at home. The defence looks strong still and if Red Star are going to attack then we must make advantage of the space they make available.

^ It was tight, not much created by either side but we got the goal that we needed.

Smith has a very poor record in Europe because he is not prepared to play a risky strategy, even at home. While the likes of St Mirren and Gretna (no disrespect) will buckle under the pressure of a 5 man midfield at Ibrox, most European teams (even a poor one like Red Star) are too good and we have to be prepared to take the game to them.

It was a very poor performance and an underserved victory but thanks to Novo's strike we will probably scrape through.

Big improvements needed though, Walter!!
