Here is the Rangers results so far in Competitive games:
Rangers 2-0 FK Zeta
Inverness 0-3 Rangers
So one decent and one great performance so far, any thoughts.

FK Zeta 0-1 Rangers
Very professional performance by Rangers to hold off a pretty solid Zeta team in Montenegro. DeMarcus Beasley scored a late winner after Rangers had comfortably held off their opponents who looked like they lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
The game was marred though by abusive chanting (and this time not by Gers' fans!) Beasley claimed afterwards that he and Darcheville were subjected to monkey chants and other abuse by the home fans. UEFA is investigating...

They will most likely play Red Star in the next round... That should not be much of a test.... The ex-Yugoslav teams are not anywhere close to where they use to be. Rangers look solid so far this year.
Andygers

^ Yeah i think Red Star are a shadow of what they used to be, All we have to do is finish them off in the first leg then relax in the second

Rangers 2-0 St Mirren
Well the good form continues as Rangers put 2 goals past a St Mirren side in need of a good confidence boost. The goals came from Barry Ferguson and new boy Daniel Cousin in the second half. Cousin, only seven minutes on the field received a ball from DaMarcus Beasley and slotted it into the back of the net. Barry Ferguson grabbed his third goal of the season but Kris Boyd looked pretty poor, he needs to get the goals and get them soon. Your thoughts about the game????

Rangers 7-2 Falkirk
PFFFFT!!! :D :D :D :D :D Rangers ran riot against an attacking Falkirk side, scoring seven but conceding two. Rangers started with a very early goal from Daniel Cousin and made it two around the 35 minute mark, with Steven Whittaker. Falkirk stunned Ibrox by scoring on 41 minutes with a cracker then the half time whistle came. Rangers then made it 3-1 with another goal by new boy Daniel Cousin but Falkirk were not done yet and they made it 3-2 and nerves travelled around the home support but as soon as the ball was played up the park Rangers made it 4-2 with Kris Boyd getting off the mark. Rangers then went on the attack and scored another three, two coming from Jean-Claude Darcheville and one from Kirk Broadfoot. Great performance, the challenge is on!!!!

:D :D Great performance, great result!! But a lot of respect to Falkirk for coming to Ibrox and attacking Rangers. It cost them towards the end but they earned a lot of credibility. Another win next time please :D

Rangers 4-0 Gretna
It was a tale of two half's for Rangers today. First half was the poorest Rangers had played all season, they rarely threatened the Gretna goal and looked quite shaky but went 1-0 up after a free kick from Kris Boyd was deflected into the back of the net. Then in the second they looked a bit better but it was still poor then came the changes, Nacho Novo and Jean-Claude Darcheville came on to add some pace and it worked. Andy Webster scored the second on his debut and the third came from Carlos Celluar. Then an own goal finished it off. Good result, poor performance.

Hearts 4-2 Rangers
What can I say....That was absolutely pathetic. We were a complete shambles and Hutton what is he all about
Okay we went 2-0 down by two bad deflections then we got back and then Hutton makes a stupid challenge and gives them a penalty FFS :mad2:
What a f**king way to prepare for a champions league clash....We must improve drastically.

Rangers 2-1 Stuttgart
Rangers started their champions league campaign with a victory over the German champions, Stuttgart. Goals from Charlie Adam and Jean-Claude Darcheville were enough to beat the Germans even though Mario Gomez gave them the lead.
I thought we were fantastic and it was a complete contrast to Saturday....Ferguson showed he is the best midfielder in Scotland.

Rangers 3-0 Aberdeen
Rangers are back where they belong after a good victory over UEFA cup participants Aberdeen. Rangers had a very sluggish first half not creating much although Aberdeen only had one chance in the first half. The Second started with a bang, with Lee McCulloch scoring a 25 yard strike. Rangers picked up the tempo and man of the match Steven Naismith beating one defender and slotting it past the helpless Aberdeen goalkeeper. Then with two minutes to go substitute Kris Boyd taking a great first touch before slamming the ball into the back of the net. First half a little lacklustre, second half great :)
Next up for us East fife in the CIS cup.

East Fife vs Rangers
Rangers face third division side East Fife in the CIS cup on Wednesday. Rangers should take this pretty comfortably although East Fife knocked out SPL side St Mirren.
I say 4-0 Rangers :)

Dang Rangers is doing really good. I don't know much about East Fife but I don't see any reason for you guys to not go through in your CL group. I expected more form Stuttgart..
Andygers
09-24-2007, 07:11 PM
^ Yeah but it is only one CL game in so far so lets not dismiss Stuttgart's chances yet......There is an Excuse for us to go out, look at our remaining fixtures:
02 Oct- Lyon (A)
23 Oct- Barcelona (H)
07 Nov- Barcelona (A)
27 Nov- Stuttgart (A)
12 Dec- Lyon (H)
I reckon we might take 9 points from these matches but that's speaking as a Rangers fan.
Fry36
09-24-2007, 07:14 PM
Barca is going to be a tough away game but Rangers should expect a win in every home game. That's the mentality to get outta the rounds in the CL imo.
Then again I'm a Fenerbahce fan...the hell would I know about getting through CL rounds? :D
Andygers
09-24-2007, 07:37 PM
Hey....What are the fourth seeds in the group doing expecting to win every home game.
Fenerbache are in a better position to go through....so don't be so negative.

With your fans supporting you, and it being your home grounds, you can't be happy with a loss. Maybe "expecting a win EVERY game" like I said might be exaggerating it a bit, but expecting at least a point in home games is nothing impossible. The bigger teams should be hesitant when they come into your grounds, no?

East Fife 0-4 Rangers

Motherwell vs Rangers
Back to SPL and its a tough one against Motherwell at Fir park on Saturday at 12:30 pm. Rangers will be with a full first team against Motherwell, but they won't be easy after a 4-2 victory against Hibs last night at easter road.
I think Rangers will win 2-0 :)

Motherwell 1-1 Rangers
WTF happened....again for the second away game in a row in the SPL, we fail to win. Motherwell were great but we really should have won, Whittaker was poor and the only good player was Beasley.
Must improve or we will end up second :mad2:
Lets hope Dundee United take something off of Celtic :)

Decided to change the name to each matchday because that will probably make more people talk about the games
Anyway next league match is Celtic at Ibrox. After a horror show against Hibs yesterday we now sit 3rd in the table three points from the top after Celtic (Very Luckily) won against Gretna 2-1. This means the old firm game is now a Must win or we will be 6 points behind Celtic. The thing we need is pace and looking at Celtic today, with pace, we can destroy them. Darcheville should be first pick up front because we had no pace yesterday and were abysmal.
My prediction is 2-0 Rangers :)

Rangers 3-2, but I could be wrong. I've got a link below and apparently it's about a solicitor who rings up and winds up a Celtic fan (it's all a big joke!) but some people say that the fan is actually a Rangers fan. I'm excited about the Celtic - Rangers game. Both teams are by far the best in the SPL, both struggling though.
Andygers
10-08-2007, 09:01 PM
Yeah I must agree both teams look magic at times (Rangers 7-2 Falkirk, Celtic 5-0 Hearts) and poor at others (Hibs 3-2 Celtic, Rangers 0-1 Hibs)
But if you watch us with pace the team are unstoppable but with no pace we are a very poor side. The key to this game is keeping our concentration for 90 minutes because Celtic tend to score in the 90 min

Heres how I think we will line up vs Celtic:
----------Mcgregor-------------------
Hutton-----Celluar-----Weir------Papac
Whittaker--Ferguson--Thomson--Novo
------Darcheville---Cousin-----------
Man that line up would kill Celtic except Whittaker I'm still not sure about him. However, what about that front two that would be deadly!!!!!

Rangers 3-0 Celtic
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Rangers romped home to a 3-0 win against arch rivals Celtic. Celtic were played off the park, Ferguson was outstanding once more and wee Novo grabbed two goals. Also looking at some decisions we could have won 5-0, The penalty claim (defo pen) and the Lee McCullough goal which was wrongly chopped off for offside, later replays showed that he was clearly onside but hey I'm not gonnie moan in such a tremendous occasion. We outplayed them in all areas in the park, Celluar and Weir were great and the midfield ruled the game. Celtic's big players were nowhere to be seen, it just shows that they are a team running scared.
THE CHASE IS ON!!!!!!!!!!

Rangers 2-0 Inverness CT
Rangers secured three vital SPL points today after a satisfactory 2-0 win over Inverness. Rangers started with a bang, only forty seconds gone and Kris Boyd scored. He was played through by Nacho Novo and stuck the ball past the Inverness keeper. Rangers then tried to get further in front but it did not materialise. The game was pretty poor up until the middle of the second half when Jean-Claude Darcheville and Daniel Cousin replaced Kris Boyd and Nacho Novo. These two added more pace to the team and within 5 minutes of them coming on Rangers scored again. It was an unlikely source that the goal came from, defender Carlos Celluar latched onto a crossed ball and headed the ball home. Inverness were finished at this point and Rangers had chances to go further in front but they couldn't take them and the game ended 2-0. Slow paced performance but three points is three points!!!

Aberdeen vs Rangers
I can't wait to get a hold of these buggers. We defeated them 3-0 at Ibrox the last time we played them and we must hammer them this time. Aberdeen's form has picked up over the last few weeks, despite the 3-0 loss to Motherwell on Saturday, and we must be on our guard but I believe we will defeat them and add the fact that Aberdeen have a do or die match in the Uefa cup on Thursday, that must make us favourites.
I reckon we will win 2-0 :)
Andygers
12-17-2007, 06:58 PM
Here is how I think we should line up:
--------------McGregor------------------------
--Hutton-----Celluar----Weir------Whittaker----
--McCulloch---Ferguson----Thomson----Burke--
-------------JCD-------Boyd--------------------
This could work because JCD and Boyd are both wanting to impress (for different reasons) and they would be deadly. The midfield is not the greatest but would work effectively and the defence would be the same except put Whittaker in for Papac because Whittaker looked great against Kilmarnock at left-back.

Hibs 1-2 Rangers
This result really flattered Hibs and no - I'm not being biased. The first half saw plenty of chances for the Gers with two players who have been on the fringes this season - Burke and Naismith - combining to give the latter a tap in for the opener.
After half time little change with Hibs missing Fletcher and looking pretty poor. Cousin doubled the lead with a thunderbolt after a decent passing move. Rangers then just kept the ball well with about 70% second period possession before Morrocan sub Zemama (who I think is a promising young forward) scored a good consolation that made the last couple of minutes more nervy than they should have been for Smith's men.
But most importantly, we return to the top of the SPL with Celtic playing Gretna at Parkhead today.

Good assessment of the game Cambria
The game was so one sided in the second half, i thought it was Gretna we were playing not Hibs. (though Gretna gave a good account of themselves at Celtic park.) Some of the passing was fantastic, especially when you look at some of our recent games. Cousin didn't do anything today but yet got the winning goal (what a goal it was as well!!!!) I thought Burke and Hendami were brilliant and I think should both start vs Celtic. Good performance and sets us up nicely for the Old Firm game which is on Wednesday. There are a few hours left to discuss this game before I change it to the old firm thread.

Celtic vs Rangers
Well here we are again, its time to battle with them once again. Although this time the game is getting the attention it deserves. I believe that we must stop Celtic from launching high balls into the box and we must stop MacDonald from getting the ball to his feet because he is prone to put the ball in the back of the net. I think that we will go 4-5-1 and just hold them back then release the attack, with Darcheville leading the charge :)
I say 1-0 Rangers :)
COME ON THE GERS!!!!! LETS GET RIPPED INTO THEM!!!!!!!!!
WATP!!!!!!!!!!!

Celtic are struggling at the moment so the temptation is to say go all out for three points (which would be fantastic :D) but I'd settle for a draw. You're right Andy - Darcheville must play and Burke could give the Celtic defence the run-around.
I'll go Celtic 1-1 Rangers
P.S. Always good to see a Hutton-McGeady face off. They're not the best of friends and sparks should fly :)...

^ Yeah but I'm not sure a draw would be the best we could achieve going to parkhead. I think we could win, even if Balde is playing for Celtic.

I'm not sure but the SPL said that they only postponed games that were "Directly involved" with Phil O'Donnell's death. Now In my opinion the only games that should have been postponed in that case were:
Hibs vs Motherwell- For obvious reasons.
Gretna vs St Mirren- Because the game was due to be played at Fir park where the incident took place.
Dundee United vs Hearts- Because Dundee United players saw him die!!! FFS they provided the opposition and they were all gathered around him when he was unconscious, that is why the game shouldn't have went ahead.
Now to my main point, this may sound a little twisted and I will be in the minority but I believe that Celtic played this to their advantage. They were in a terrible state at the moment and we were odds on to beat them easily and then this came along and they grabbed it with both hands and now I think they have the upper hand by letting their new signings settle in time for the game. Now I know that Walter Smith agreed to the postponement but i believe he was forced to, imagine if he said no the media would have torn him up and left him embarrassed and ashamed. This is only my opinion and I doubt that many people will agree with it.

^^ Yeah I too don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but the postponement does help Celtic because;
1) McGeady will not be suspended
2) Boruc could be back
3) They should have recovered from their woeful form
4) Hutton may have left Ibrox
5) Celtic should have signed a couple of half decent defenders and possibly Faddy
However, the rational side of me says this was morally the correct thing to do. What annoys me though, is how 3 games were allowed to go ahead - especially Dundee Utd who as you said Andy saw the poor guy die!!! When the Sevilla player died, I think all matches in Spain were called off for 2 weeks....we should have done the same

Rangers 4-0 St Mirren
Rangers eventually stormed past a deflated St Mirren side at Ibrox earlier today. Rangers started pretty poorly and up until the first goal they looked like a team lost. Not creating much and trailing on the shots on goal count Rangers finally took the game by the scruff of the neck and scored, the goal scored by Chris Burke started Rangers up but Rangers were about to be gifted the game when Will Haining received his second yellow card of the game and a red card. Rangers then went 2-0 up when Kris Boyd hammered the ball home on 33 minutes and the third came form Steven Whittaker just before the break. However Rangers started the second half as poorly as the second and the only other goal of the game came for Steven Whittaker.
Good result for us, Your thoughts????

Hibernian 0-0 Rangers
Sorry about the lateness of this post but I was busy yesterday, so here goes.
Rangers were frustrated in the 5th round of the Scottish cup by Hibs at Easter road yesterday. Rangers were the far better team in the first half, with the Hibs goalkeeper having to make a few brilliant saves, most particularly Barry Ferguson's attempt on goal after 14 minutes. However Rangers were almost made to pay by Hibs second half performance and there were a few occasions where Steven Fletcher and co could have made us pay. Then with around 5 minutes to go Rangers keeper Allan McGregor was sent off for a challenge that at first looked a straight red but after second view it was clear that Allan McGregor got a touch to the ball. Rangers under some confusion brought off the wrong player to replace the keeper, Rangers wanted Chris Burke to come off but ended up having Brahim Hendani come off for Neil Alexander but he survived the game and so did Rangers. The winner of the replay between these two will meet either Livingston or Partick Thistle.
IMHO we were very lucky to escape with a 0-0 draw but at least were still in with chance of the treble.....unlike some teams

Kilmarnock 0-2 Rangers
Rangers made hard work of defeating Kilmarnock at Rugby Park today, Rangers could have opened the scoring after only a minute when Jean-Claude Darcheville was right through on goal but squandered the chance. It took a pretty lackluster Rangers side 26 minutes to open the scoring, with a corner that was played into the box and eventually reached Carlos Celluar's who looping header went in the back of the net. The game then looked as though it had died, with Kilmarnock making the most of the situation. Simon Ford then had a decent chance for Killie, with his header from the free kick just going over the bar. However just as it looked as though Rangers were going to settle for a draw, they were awarded a penalty which Kris Boyd converted and wrapped the game up. TBH this wasn't the most vintage performance from Rangers but at least were still top of the league.

Hearts 0-4 Rangers
Rangers certainly took capital gains tonight at Tynecastle. Rangers and Hearts started the game in a furiously paced fashion but it was soon shown who was the more dominant of the two, when Rangers started to worry the Hearts defence. The most noticeable chance came when Rangers whipped in a corner that was brilliantly saved by Hearts goalkeeper Steve Banks. Rangers continued to threat the Hearts goal and the breakthrough came after Barry Ferguson played a beautiful ball into the feet of Jean-Claude Darcheville who drilled the ball home. He then scored again just before half time, when he miss hit the ball but it ended up in the back of the net. However he was subbed at half time with a feared injury but there was no doubt what so ever that Rangers were still in complete control and his sub Nacho Novo, tapped the ball into the back of the net and once more he scored with a flashy goal with his heal. Rangers were outstanding tonight, watch out Celtic ;). My man of the match was Steve Davis.

Rangers 3-1 Aberdeen
Rangers continued a fantastic run in the SPL, making it 11 wins in a row today after winning against a resilient Aberdeen side. Rangers started in a sluggish pace and when Allan McGregor had to make crucial saves in the first 15 minutes the alarm bells started to ring and they had every right to when Steve Lovell was left unmarked during a corner and lashed a header home to make it 1-0. At this point my heart sank, it was terrible but Rangers have something about them and came back when Christian Daily beautifully back heeled the ball into the net sending the home support into raptures. In the second half Rangers, played better and Charlie Adam headed the ball home and the fans could sense something and when Nacho Novo was impeded in the area, Kris Boyd scored from the rebound from the penalty. It was three points that we were really needing......BRING ON THE BREMEN!!!!!!!!!!!

Quality result that should deliver the SPL title back to Ibrox :D. First half was a bit tight but luckily all Celtic's chances fell to Brown who couldn't score a goal to save himself. Great goal by Thomson and the second half was just a really efficient, professional performance for the Gers with Weir, Cuellar and Ferguson in excellent form. Strachan's days are numbered...

The game at Tannadice will be both huge for us and United. We are going for the SPL Title and Dundee Utd are going for Europe. It will be a tough game for us because our record at Tannadice has been very poor, United gave us one hell of a match in the cup final and we were lucky to scrap the victory on penaltys. If Celtic win tomorrow, the gap will be closed to 3 points, if we win we increase it to 6 points, however if Celtic LOSE and we win, it will be a 9 point gap and the title will only be a few miles away. I would put Whittaker at RB since Broadfoot had a poor game last night against Sporting, watching him chasing a Sporting counter attack was murder, he was running like a car at a 20 school zone, he will need to watch himself when the oppenents are on the counter. I would play a 4 4 2 with JCD and Cousin up front, they could do some serious damage.
My Rangers team to play against Dundee United
Mcgregor
Whittaker
Weir
Cuellar
Papac
Davis
Ferguson
Thomson
McCulloch
JCD
Cousin
My prediction:
Dundee United 0 Rangers 2
Cuellar and McCulloch to score

We were very brave getting 3 equalisers today. Our defending at the 3 United goals were shocking, cannot believe Kalvenes had that much space when he scored the opener. Carlos was very unlucky scoring an own goal, something bad always happens to a footballer. I was very suprised that Weir managed to score from a set piece because most of the balls from corners and freekicks have been terrible, Adam hopeless at it, Davis needs improving with corners, Thomson needs more height, Ferguson can hit a decent one, we are missing Beasley for the corners. As soon as Hunt scored that goal I switched the tele off and headed up stairs and I put the radio on to listen to the rest of the game. Boyd should have been on the bench, he had a very quiet game despite he scored. Most important thing we are 7 points clear and we have a game in hand.

Partick Thistle 0-2 Rangers
Haven't saw any of the game but it did sound pretty comfortable, goals from Novo and Burke. Partick missed a penalty but so did we!!! So its all good for now!!!

Celtic vs Rangers
(Cue dramatic music)
This is it, this is our chance to finish this mob off once and for all. We must win and claim the title as ours. If we do then we can concentrate on Europe and the Scottish cup. I just hope to god we do the business and not give them a slight chance to come back into the title race. We will play the way we usually do against them, dragging them in and then destroying them on the counter attack.
This is the team that I exepct to play:
------------McGregor-----------------------
Broadfoot----Celluar---Weir------Papac-----
McCulloch--Hendami--Ferguson--Dailly--Davis
------------JCD--------------------------
All I can say now is...COME ON YOU GERS!!!

i think that it will be 1-1 because celtic are a very strong side at home, and its pretty hard to beat them infront of their fans.........

Put it into perspective. Realistically Rangers can still win 4 trophies this season.
Realistically Celtic can win zero trophies.

^ Although Realistically this gives Celtic a massive confidence boost coming into the title run in, they win on Saturday they go top.

Now you see how it feels to lose Andy, Rangers cant win all the games man, shit happens, bayern loses but i move on, But yeah i know it feels to lose in the last minute of a game, just like when italy beat Germany in the dieing secs man, i was so freakin pissed that day but what can you do, thats the beauty of soccer where special nights happen for teams you hate.....

Gutted absoulutly gutted :( :worried: Celtic were fantanstic in the opening 25 minutes. They had about 6 or 7 corners in a row, and then Nakamura with a stunning 35 yard shot. Then Nacho Novo scores a goal which was against the run of play IMO. Then Cuellar with a moment of madness, great save from the Nakamura shot, but it resulted to a Celtic penalty and a red card for Carlos. But credit to Mcgregor for the save from Mcdonald. Then Celtic do what they do best, score in the last bloody minute!
But the main talking point of tonight is the scenes which happened during and after the match. Mcgregor is getting treatment, the club doctor gets hit by a coin. Before the end, Samaras has a tussle at Ferguson. Then after the game the fights between Mcmanus and Ferguson and Weir and Caldwell. Weir and Caldwell have both recieved red cards (I believe) But serious problem is, for the next Old Firm game, No Cuellar, No Weir, No Thomson,
WE ARE DEAD
I can still see us win the league though, but it will not be easy.

Celluar will be a big miss and Mcgregor is out :worried:
WE ARE DEAD I would normally delete this but you are sadly 100% correct...No McGregor, No Celluar, No Thomson....

Scottish Cup Semi against St Johnstone next, they will be up for it, it could be thier games of thier lives, lets hope they dont do what Queen of the South done against Aberdeen, win 4-3. I think we will rest quite a few players since we are playing Fiorentina this Thursday. I think we will only win 2-0. Burke and Naismith to score.

Rangers vs St Johnstone
Well whats the general feeling about this game???
I think that we will shock by winning by a bigger margin than expected because we got a big kick up the a**e on Wednesday and Walter will not let another performance like that happen again.
I say Rangers 3-0 St Johnstone :)

Naismith set for lengthy lay-off
Steven Naismith was injured at Hampden on Sunday
Naismith was injured at Hampden on Sunday
Rangers forward Steven Naismith may not play again this season after damaging his knee in Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final win over St Johnstone.
Chris Burke was also hurt during the game at Hampden but his ankle problem is not as bad as first feared.
The winger will definitely miss Thursday's Uefa Cup semi-final first leg clash against Fiorentina at Ibrox.
Allan McGregor, Lee McCulloch, Charlie Adam are injured with the latter two not expected to play again this term.
Goalkeeper McGregor has been diagnosed with "a significant ankle injury", after landing awkwardly during last week's 2-1 defeat at Celtic Park.
However, no timescale has been set on a possible comeback for the Scotland international.
DaMarcus Beasley remains sidelined as he battles back from knee ligament damage sustained in November but the USA winger hopes to return before the campaign is over.
Man this looks not good, your list of Injured players is getting longer and longer!

Celtic vs Rangers
Well here it is the last old firm game of the season and we must win this to wrap it all up, we could have done it last time but we just didn't show the heart or passion, now is the time we must do it and I am confident we will.
I say Celtic 0-1 Rangers :)

^ Acht the defeat the last time only happened because Celtic were so much more determined than us. This time we will be more deterimined than them, Walter even said so today.
