James Keene and Mathias Svensson are happy after the game. Elfsborg will now face Valencia in the third qualifying round and the winners there enter the UEFA Champions League Group Stage.
Elfsborg Stalemate denies Debrecen
Swedish champions IF Elfsborg reached the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round by preserving their first-leg advantage in a close contest at home to Debreceni VSC.
Debrecen denied
Leading through Daniel Mobaeck's solitary strike in Hungary last week, Elfsborg survived two scares to draw 0-0 at the Borås Arena: Debrecen's Dorge Rostand Kouemaha had a first-half goal disallowed for a foul on the goalkeeper, before Zsombor Kerekes shot against the post in the closing minutes of the match.
Near misses
The hosts, who were able to field Anders Svensson and Mathias Svensson despite injury concerns, had looked untroubled until the 41st minute when Kouemaha won an aerial challenge with Elfsborg keeper Johan Wiland and put the ball into the net. However, the effort was ruled out for a push on Wiland, and Debrecen found themselves on the back foot in the second half. Stefan Ishizaki and Mathias Svensson both wasted chances before opportunity finally knocked for the Hungarian side at the end of the game, with Kerekes's strike centimetres away from taking the tie into extra time. Elfsborg's reward is a third qualifying round meeting with Valencia CF.
Champions League Third Qualifying Round 1st Leg
Valencia - Elfsborg 3-0
Elfsborg had nothing in this game, Valencia was better at every position and deserved to score a goal or two more. That says everything.

i see only Elfsborg advancing
do you think some other clubs will advance?
Elfsborg has a good chance of making it but it will be tough, Dinamo Bucaresti is a strong team.
Hammarby has shown character during their games in Europe this season with winning Intertoto and won today against SC Braga. I think they have a 60-40 chance of making it now as well.
Then it depends on how it goes for AIK tonight against Hapoel Tel Aviv, if they can get a good result away i think they will make it as well.
Helsingborg is down 3-0 after first 45 against SC Heerenveen so they are pretty much out of it(Damn that's my team)
BK Häcken is out.
Yeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhh Helsingborg scores :D
3-1 now
Cmon!!!
HENRIK LARSSON IS THE MAN!!!!!!
What a ***k is happening in the game between SC Heerenveen and Helsingborg.

The games are finished;
SC Heerenveen - Helsingborgs IF 5-3
Hapoel Tel Aviv - AIK 0-0
Hammarby - SC Braga 2-1
Spartak Moscow - BK Häcken 5-0

Swedes dream of the group stage
IF Elfsborg coach Magnus Haglund said reaching the group stage would be like "winning the Allsvenskan" as Sweden's five UEFA Cup contenders resume action.
'On a par'
The Swedish champions earned one of the best results of the 40 first-leg ties when they came back from FC Dinamo 1948 Bucureşti with a 2-1 win. Haglund is now excited about reaching the next stage in the competition, saying: "Qualifying for the group stage would be on a par with winning the Allsvenskan. It would be a great experience and we believe in ourselves."
Emergency signing
Having earned a 2-1 win at home against SC Braga, Hammarby also have a lead to defend although injuries to goalkeepers Erland Hellström and Benny Lekström have forced them to take emergency action, signing 30-year-old custodian Magnus Jonsson on a free transfer. "Magnus is experienced, motivated and also eligible so we feel it's the best possible solution," said a club spokesman.
AIK hopeful
A 0-0 draw at Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC represented a good first-leg return for AIK Solna, and coach Rickard Norling insists his side's title chase in Sweden will not distract them from the task at hand. "We've got the mental and physical strength to cope," he said. "In Israel we played extremely well defensively and managed to handle their midfielders very well. Now we need to attack to win, but we know they're a good side so we must attack with intelligence"
Long shots
Helsingborgs BK must score at least twice if they are to overcome SC Heerenveen having lost 5-3 in the Netherlands. Defender Erik Wahlstedt said: "It's a very tough task, no doubt, but we managed to score three goals in Holland and if we can do that again and also keep a clean sheet then we're there." The task is even tougher for BK Häcken who are resigned to being knocked out after a 5-0 defeat in the first leg against FC Spartak Moskva. "We'll go out and do our best, but we know it's an impossible mission," said coach Sonny Karlsson.
Elfsborg lost tonight against Dinamo Bucarest but advanced on away goals. So far 2 Swedish teams has advanced into the UEFA Group Stage, Helsingborg and Elfsborg.
Hammarby and AIK can join them if they get a good restult tonight.
This is just great for Swedish football..
Helsingborg leads Swedes celebrations
Helsingborgs IF 5-1 SC Heerenveen (agg: 8-6)
After conceding five goals in the first leg, Helsingborg completed a remarkable comeback by returning the favour against Heerenveen, who could only muster one in reply. Henrik Larsson set the ball rolling on 20 minutes before Andreas Dahl (37) and Razak Omotoyossi (45) edged the Swedish side ahead on aggregate. René Makondele provided a two-goal cushion (52) and Omotoyossi's second strike (81) made it 5-0 on the night. The visitors' consolation came from Gerald Sibon a minute from time.
IF Elfsborg 0-1 FC Dinamo 1948 Bucureşti (agg: 2-2, Elfsborg win on away goals)
Helsingborg were not the only Swedish side to upset the form book as champions Elfsborg hung on in Boras to eliminate Dinamo. Leading 2-1 after the first leg in Bucharest, the home fans must have feared the worst when Ionel Danciulescu levelled the aggregate score from the penalty spot just after the half-hour. Yet Magnus Haglund's team held firm and prevailed courtesy of the away-goals rule.
BK Häcken and AIK got knocked out
BK Häcken 1-3 FC Spartak Moskva (agg: 1-8)
Spartak eased through in comprehensive style as goals from Yegor Titov, Nikita Bazhenov and Artem Dzyuba helped them to an easy win in Sweden. The talismanic Titov made it 6-0 on aggregate early on to deflate what little hopes there were among the home supporters, though they had to wait a long time before Bazhenov added another 12 minutes from time. Jonas Henriksson provided some cheer late on but it was Spartak, and Dzyuba, who had the last word.
AIK 0-1 Hapoel Tel Aviv (agg: 0-1)
Hapoel scored on a freekick in the second half which settled the game.

Haglund hails Swedish achievement
Elfsborg celebrate reaching the UEFA Cup group stage (©Getty Images)Magnus Haglund said reaching the group stage was "bigger than winning the title" as IF Elfsborg joined fellow Swedes Helsingborgs IF in next week's draw.
Swedish successes
Mass celebrations in Helsingborg and Boras greeted results last night as the two clubs overcame the odds to reach the group stage. A 1-0 home defeat against FC Dinamo 1948 Bucureşti was enough for Elfsborg to proceed on away goals following 2-1 win in Romania in the first leg, while Helsingborgs overcame a 5-3 first leg loss at SC Heerenveen with a 5-1 success in the return fixture.
Personal high
Elfsborg coach Haglund was overwhelmed by his side's achievement, comparing it favourably to their Allsvenskan success in 2006. "For me personally this is bigger than winning the title," he said. "I'm very proud of how we played and we should have scored in the first half when we had a good chance. They didn't have many chances apart from the goal and in the end I think the right team went through."
'Fantastic feeling'
Sweden international Anders Svensson was also pleased with his side's work. "It's a fantastic feeling and despite losing I think we were always in control," he said. "It's always difficult when you're trailing but we didn't let them control the game and that always gives you a big boost. It's probably the biggest event in the history of the club."
'Very proud'
Helsingborg are enduring a difficult season at home where they are eighth in the 12-team Allsvenskan, but they pulled out all the stops against Dutch side Heerenveen to strike out for the group stage. Coach Stuart Baxter said: "I'm very proud of what we've achieved and this will be a big boost. Hopefully we can continue to play well in Europe."
Larsson thrilled
The club's star striker, Swedish legend Henrik Larsson, added: "It was a fantastic display and we finally showed what we are capable of. We were much more compact than we have been previously this season and when we scored the fourth goal it felt as though victory was at hand. I've been a pro for a long time so I know what can happen but at four goals we virtually killed them off."
Swedish survivors
Five Swedish sides entered the first round, but AIK Solna, Hammarby and BK Häcken all bowed out after last night's results. Halmstads BK are the only Swedish side to have competed in the UEFA Cup group stage, losing all four of their games in the 2005/06 competition.

Tough draw for Elfsborg. I think Helsingborg has a chance of making it though...
Larsson the leveller for Helsingborg
Henrik Larsson scored a late equaliser to cancel out Fanourios Goundoulakis's first-half opener for Panionios GSS and spare Helsingborgs IF the disappointment of an opening Group H defeat.
Goundoulakis strike
The Allsvenskan side seemed destined for a surprise reverse after Goundoulakis struck a sublime opener in first-half stoppage time. The culmination of a barrage of attacks from the visitors, the strike proved to be Panionios's last meaningful contribution before Larsson, profiting from Christoffer Andersson's cross, pounced seven minutes from time. Panionios still had the chance to seal the points through Ioannis Kondis, but Daniel Andersson rescued his side with a superb save.
Greek domination
Panionios were the better team from the off. Bennard Kumordzi blazed wide as early as the second minute, Konstantinos Kapetanos's long-range shot brought a save from Andersson, and Kapetanos then fired over when presented with a second chance. A quarter of an hour had passed before Helsingborg worked a noteworthy opening – Razak Omotoyossi firing wide of the near post – and another 16 minutes went by before Andreas Dahl's corner found Ólafur Ingi Skúlason, whose weak header was thumped clear by Nikos Spiropoulos.
Home improvement
In between, Rafik Djebbour and Grigorios Makos threatened for the visitors, who took the lead a minute into added time. Kumordzi found space on the left and his cross was thundered into the top-right corner by Goundoulakis. Helsingborg improved after the break and within five minutes of the restart both René Makondele and Andersson went close to an equaliser, while Omotoyossi forced Dario Kresic to tip his 52nd-minute drive around the post. But then Larsson struck, racing on to Andersson's left-wing cross and finishing well from 12 metres. There was almost a final twist, too, but Andersson denied Kondis a match-winning volley.

Helsingborg leave Galatasaray reeling
http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/1522/bragd451935wsn9.jpg
Galatasaray SK's chances of qualifying from Group H took a significant blow as Helsingborgs IF turned on the style to defeat them 3-2 and leave the Turkish team floundering with no points after two matches.
Memorable night
Billed as the battle of the 36-year-old strikers – Galatasaray's Hakan Şükür and Helsingborg favourite Henrik Larsson – it was the Sweden legend who enjoyed a memorable night as he set the visitors on their way with a 31st-minute opener. Razak Omotoyossi doubled lead on 39, and Christoffer Andersson scored what turned out to be a decisive third with a quarter of an hour remaining either side of Shabani Nonda's double for Cimbom.
Poor record
Galatasaray had drawn one and lost two of their ties against Allsvenskan opposition at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium, and did not look like reversing that statistic as they slipped two goals behind inside 40 minutes. The opener came via midfielder Andreas Dahl who picked out Larsson after bursting down the right and the veteran drilled a shot from the left side of the area low into the opposite corner. The second also came from the right flank, René Makondele picking out Omotoyossi who made no mistake from close range.
All to do
The first half was in added time when Galatasaray reduced arrears as Nonda evaded his marker and coolly nodded in a pinpoint Arda Turan centre. That provided the spur for the home team to start the second half strongly, and Barış Özbek, Lincoln and Nonda all passed up chances before Andersson found space on the left and arrowed a shot high into Aykut Erçetin's net. The Arda-Nonda axis was also behind the latter's second goal in added time, although it came too late to alter the outcome and left the Turkish club with it all to do in their remaining games.

Well done to your team, Vic! They really underachieved in the Allsvenskan this year. Pitty that Elfsborg didn´t perform better against Fiorentina. 6-1 is humiliating result.
Heja svensk fotboll. Heja Blåvitt.
Thanks man!
Yeah we played like a womens team this season in Allsvenskan but the UEFA CUP seems to be our melody this season.
Indeed it's a shame that Elfsborg lost with that kind of a result against Fiorentina.

damn what they played without a goalie
damn what they played without a goalie
Yeah it makes you wonder. Poor performance by Elfsborg for sure!
Helsingborg go through with goal rush
Helsingborgs IF are the first team through to the UEFA Cup Round of 32 as they climbed to the top of Group H with a commanding victory against FK Austria Wien.
Second-half goal glut
Two second-half goals from Razak Omotoyossi and another from Ólafur Ingi Skúlason took Helsingborg on to seven points from three games. Neither Austria nor Galatasaray AS can now catch Helsingborg, so the Swedish side will go into December's draw regardless of their last result at FC Girondins de Bordeaux, though a win would ensure top spot.
Austrian chances
Helsingborg applied pressure from the off and away goalkeeper Sašo Fornezzi kept the scores level after two reflex saves from Adama Tamboura and Christoffer Andersson. The visitors then came into the game when Joachim Standfest shot over the bar while Helsingborg’s keeper Daniel Andersson was tested by Rubin Okotie's header moments later.
Opener
The Austrian side had further openings through Ronald Gercaliu and Milenko Ačimovič and they finished the first half the stronger side as Florian Metz was unfortunate not to give them the lead when he hit the crossbar. The missed chances came back to haunt them a minute after the restart when Skúlason struck following a pass from Henrik Larsson.
Goal rush
The opener galvanised Helsingborg and they doubled their lead midway through the second half when René Makondele's cross was missed by Larsson but Omotoyossi was on hand to volley beyond Fornezzi. The away defence was then breached again five minutes later when Omotoyossi headed home Andreas Dahl's cross.
Bottom
Visiting coach Georg Zellhofer responded with a spate of substitutions, but they could not find a way through the home rearguard. The loss marked a second successive defeat for the Austrian side, who now need wins against Panionios NFC and Galatasaray.

Mladá Boleslav succeed in Sweden
FK Mladá Boleslav came from a goal down against IF Elfsborg to record their first win in UEFA Cup Group C.
Comeback
Swedish challengers Elfsborg, who had only one point from two games, had taken a first-half lead through Mathias Svensson in the 31st minute but Stefan Ishizaki missed a chance to make it 2-0 when he saw his penalty saved by goalkeeper Petr Pižanowski. Substitute Ivo Táborský equalised in the 67th minute and fellow forward Alexandre Mendy put the Czech outfit ahead before Petr Voríšek converted a late free-kick to seal the victory. Mladá Boleslav had lost their only previous match 2-1 at home to Villarreal CF.
Elfsborg on top
Elfsborg began the game as the brighter team and James Keene had a shot from distance blocked by Pižanowski. The early dominance of Magnus Haglund's side paid off when Ishizaki broke down the right and picked out Svensson in the area to place the ball to the right of Pižanowski. A second goal seemed likely when Mladá Boleslav midfielder Tomáš Hrdlička brought down Martin Andersson in the box but Ishizaki's penalty down the middle was stopped by Pižanowski.
Game turns
The visitors to Sweden were allowed back into the match in the second half. And with their first real opportunity they equalised when Milan Kopic supplied Táborský to head past goalkeeper Johan Wiland. Now Mladá Boleslav had the momentum and with eleven minutes left they stole the initiative as Voríšek's incisive pass was touched in by Mendy. Deep into stoppage time Voríšek curled in a free-kick from the edge of the area to secure the points ahead of next week's visit of AEK Athens FC. Elfsborg, who are all but out, end their campaign at Villarreal on 20 December.
