Serie A - Juventus are reported to be lining up a bid for Toulouse forward Johan Elmander.

The newly-crowned Serie B champions are set to lose France striker David Trezeguet this summer to either Lyon or Liverpool.

And Sweden international Elmander, who was one of the stand-out players in Ligue 1 this season, was nominated for the French Player if the Year award, in which he lost out to Lyon's Florent Malouda.

"I can confirm that some European clubs are following Johan closely," Elmander's agent Anders Wallsten told Sportbladet.

"However, I do not want to comment on Juventus specifically at this point in time."

Elmander, 25, spent several seasons trying to break into the Feyenoord first team before returning to Sweden on loan with Djurgardens, following which he returned to the Netherlands with NAC for a season before moving permanently to Brondby in Denmark.

The former Holmanlunds and Orgryte man joined Toulouse at the start of the season just gone and would cost in the region of 6 million euros.

Sounds like a good move for him because he could be joining a team who are rebuilding and if he impresses Claudio Ranieri then he could fit into a potentially title winning club and even the chance of impressing in Europe next year

Yeah i also think that this would be a good move for him, he has played awesome in Toulouse this season with 11 goals and was nominated as the best player of the year in France together with Malouda and some other guy.

Elmander has played great in the NT aswell and he's one of my favourite players, we swedes sees him as the only given forward in the NT, Ibrahimovic, Allbäck and Rosenberg can fight for the other spot.

He's very hardworking and allround but it's his speed that really gives him the extra edge.

Other clubs that has been interesting in him are Roma, Barcelona and Tottenham.

Interesting to see where he ends up.

"He would cost", this means his current value right ?.

What I read today is that his value just prior to the match against Denmark was 11 million Euro and that it's gone up now ?. Heh, well regardless of what is true and his current value, that's quite a difference.

Toulouse wants to keep him at almost any price but ofcourse theirs allways a sum that will make them reconsider and if either Juve, Barcelona, Roma or Tottenham shows some muscles with a great bid, it's impossible for Toulouse to keep him.

It's very interesting to see what will happen.

I'd like to see him play for Barca since the Spanish league fits his attacking style but again, there's some very stiff competition at Barca and Elmander being a bench-warmer would suck. Regardless of where he ends up, I think it's more than likely that he will leave the French league before august.

I agree, he would fit much better in La liga or EPL then in Seria A.

Hey i read this on Aftonbladet today: Toulouse won't accept a bid under $42m, it's arround 300 millions in swedish crones. They really want to keep him

Ribery went for 238millions(SEK) to Bayern Munich for example, amazing that Elmander has such high value. If a team would actually put up those crazy 300millions(SEK) he would be the highest swedish transfer ever. Ibrahimovic was sold to inter for 228millions(SEK).

They are pricing him out of the market, a bit sad :/. I guess they feel he will be worth more than his current (realistic price) in next season and will wait until then.
