Boban vs Suker

I've had this ongoing arguement with Livnjak buddy. He insists that Suker was more important to the NT than Boban.

I say Boban was more important. In my opinion, the playmaker is much more important than the striker. Sure Suker was a great striker, and scored so many goals for us, and so many of them at crucial times. But Boban is the set up man. The guy who connects the midfield with the offence.

Strikers are often only as good as the guys who set them up. If the playmaker doesn't play well, and can't get the ball to the strikers, how will they score? It's hard to win without a good midfield, but you can still win without good strikers. Just look at france in WC98.

My buddy definately favours Suker, since Suker's stari is from Livno, but what do you guys think?

I think Boban was more important. He was our heart. The leader, the maestro.

Since he has been gone-we have not looked like before.

Davor scores but without Zvone we cannot create and control the midfield.

I say Boban was the most valuable player in the world to his team. More important than a Ronaldo, a Zidane, etc...

Zvone is the world's best captain-and not just in terms of skill...

Zvonimir well said, that's about it - we could argue about different aspects, they have different positions, but all in all Boban was more important for the whole thing - Suker was the perfect executor, well, it could have easily been Boksic if he wasn't injured in the world cup.

Speaking from Milan's point of view, I know exactly how important Boban is. He's won games single handidly for us, and I don't think Sheva would have won the scoring title without him. You guys are hurtin without Boban. There's nobody to create plays and run the midfield.
