was an awsome game and Oz were unlucky not to end the game with a draw, feel sorry for Jones the first goal he let in i suspect even Schwartzer woulda had difficaulty stopping, the second goal was a shocker Emerton was so convinced Jones had cleaned up the ball he had started his run up the sideline only to be stunned that Uruguay had scored.

Neil and Emerton couldnt have done any more to help the younger guys they were stalwart players and sterjovski picked up an easy goal after only 7 min of play.

Holman didnt have as good a game as he did against china, Valeri might have done enough to score a place in the AC side, Carle i suspect wont make it, although he can ask a few questions of the defence he lacks experience and playing against Uruguay hilighted that, i think he would benifit greatly from a year or 2 stint in the Italian league or spanish league.

Cullina, Wilkshire and thompson had solid games, Spiranovic and Beauchamp had quiet games and was a pitty Alsopp didnt get longer on the paddock.

even though we got the loss there are still heaps of positives to take out of this game :)

singapore are next on the Menu facing what should be a full strength socceroo squad.

kinda silly maybe the Singapore match shoulda been last night and Uruguay match shuld be when we play singapore. ahh well dems da breaks !

Unlucky for the Roos, i was sure that we would pick up the draw. I feel for Jones but he just has to get over it and concentrate harder.

Urugauy should have done better imo, they had a far better lineup than the Roos and should have capatilised.

Cant wait for Australia v Argentina.

oh btw what a great crowd 62 000 i think?

I think it was 61000 and a few hundred, a big turnout for a friendly. Uruguay should have played better too IMO, but we were still the better team and eentually won the game so I am happy :)

61000 / 62000 its still unprecedented for soccer erm i mean FUTBOL :P in Oz i think even the Rugby league grand final is hard pressed to pull that many fans.

Cricket, AFL (sucks) & Union have no chance

Seems like futbol is on the rise in Australia and that it will only get more and more popular!
