dude that was great quote, they should make it like:
"Scotland are always close to completing the road to world cup, but the final banana peel ruined it all". nice...

I have a feeling that this time we might just do it this time as many of the games are winnable for us, the only games I would be concerened about are games vs Holland and Norway.
Btw Steven Fletcher has also pulled out of the squad for Friday...:(

Night-mare nobody is gonna be playing in this game. At least for now at any rate the English players seem to realise that if they pull out he/Capello will chuck em out. Even though these games are often crap, you need to have the full squad whenever possible to give MGR and team a chance of gelling and to get that winning mentality. Playing only 4 or 5 of your 1st choice 11 is pretty f---ing useless.

To be fair all pulled out because of injuries and these are not fake injuries because the Scotland doctors check them out before hand.
It is bad but I believe we are strong enough to nick a draw, this is a bad time to lose loads of players but its only a friendly and Nelly we showed with our 1-1 vs Croatia at home that we can succeed without every player fit.

Well it has been a good first half, a few shaky moments but overall damn good! Morrison is playing well and we have made good chances and unfortunately missed because of sliping ect. Keep it up guys!

I think the Czechs only fielded a very weakened side for half the game yet they still spanked you guys 3-1 and apparently it could have been a whole lot worse. The road to the 2010 WC is a tough one for the Scots.

The road to the 2010 WC is a tough one for the Scots. I think our team was far much more weakened than them, 7 regulars out through injury. I thought we played well but they have class and it shone through in the end. If thats how we play with effectively our second string team against the sixth best team in the world atm, I can't wait to see what our full team will be like.
Well done lads, a tad unfortunate in the end...

We are now officaly in WC 2010 qualification mode now with no more friendlies before the start of the campaign. So if you have any thoughts on how we are going to do post them here.

Did they have 11 players out like we did? Including...
Barry Ferguson (our captain)
Kris Boyd (frequently used forward with a decent record at international level and a very good record at club level)
Scott Brown (a regular)
David Weir (again, a regular, played every euro 08 match)
Allan McGregor (good back-up keeper)
Alan Hutton (our best player, cost Spurs £9 million)
James McFadden (another who is arguably our best player, 13 goals in 37 caps)
Steven Whittaker and Kevin Thomson, two promising Rangers players who would probably have played.
Steven Fletcher young striker, reportedly watched by Real Madrid.
Lee McCulloch is another regular whoplayed most games in Euro 08 qualifying.
On the game, I think we looked comfortable for a draw at least until McManus was replaced by Dailly.
And you say it could have been a lot worse? The Czechs missed a couple of chances, but so did we! Fletcher, Miller (twice) and Morrison all had very good chances, but failed to score.
We are now officaly in WC 2010 qualification mode now with no more friendlies before the start of the campaign. So if you have any thoughts on how we are going to do post them here.
We have Northern Ireland at Hampden in August in a friendly.

Scotland vs Northern Ireland
So the last friendly match of the season before we begin our World Cup campaign is against Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland will be tough to beat but I think we can do it. Hopefully we will win this by a few goals and that will put confidence into the team before the upcoming games against Macedonia and Iceland.
Scotland 2-0 Northern Ireland

McGregor just saved a penalty from Healy, apparently it was a fantastic save.

08-21-2008, 07:22 PM
The match finished up as a 0-0 draw...........The Boys from Ulster played better than the Scots. Healy missed a penalty which would have given us the win & McGivern got a red card in the 56th minute and the Scots still could not score on us. And did I mention this game was played in Scotland :D
Scotland has some soul-searching to do...they could not beat a Northern Irleand team that was missing key players and were down to 10 men for most of the second half

And did I mention this game was played in Scotland :D No offence but what a load of utter crap that is, Scotland for the most part played well and so did N.I but to say that you guys were better than us is ridiculous, it was about even. Interesting that you say that Healy missed the penalty, I thought that was a fantastic save by McGregor.
Scotland has some soul-searching to do...they could not beat a Northern Irleand team that was missing key players and were down to 10 men for most of the second half  We were missing key players as well, Ferguson, Hartley, Hutton, Boyd and Robson wasn't fully fit. No soul searching needed at all because there were a few positives in that game and to be honest I don't see any shame in drawing with a very good Northern Ireland team considering we haven't won a home friendly international for 12 years!!!
You're being generous there with the 'about even' comment. Northern Ireland had one shot from a penalty. Sotland had all of the ball and created a few chances - Faddy had a couple of low shots, Barr's header, Robson's shot.

So this is the equation people:
We must win against Norway and Holland. This is how I see it going.
Holland (A)- 0 Points
Macedonia (H)- 3 Points
Iceland (H)- 3 Points
Norway (A)- 1 Point or 3 Points
Holland (H)- Hopefully we will be motivated to win this so I say 3 Points
Total: 16 or 14 Points

It is looking increasingly unlikely that Scotland will qualify for South Africa 2010 after a series of poor results.
What do Scotlands fans think of this?
Will you still be able to qualify and which games do you think you should target as "must win" ?
How is the mood in Scotland? Especially as arch rivals England are storming their group and well on the way to qualification.

How is the mood in Scotland? Especially as arch rivals England are storming their group and well on the way to qualification. I don't know why you keep on going on about this. Scotland fans are concentrating on their own team, to be honest I didn't hear the England score until about midnight last night. We know we were poor but we also know we can still achieve something.
Oh and to answer your question about what games Scotland fans think are "must win", all of them except Holland away.
