G.Vlaovic? He just signed for Greek Team Panathinaikos.How good of a player is he? He will be with them in the CL next year.

I know who this guy is. The answer is no he's not a good player. From what I've seen of him, he doesn't do much. He'll score now and then, but not that good.

At least 90% of the Croats I know think the same say.

Correction: Goran Vlaovic is a good player. Played alongside Suker upfront in both Euro'96 and World Cup '98 as ***sic was injured. He's skillful and fast. Hasn't played a lot in past two seasons in Valencia.
Before that he played in Padova, Dinamo, Osijek. He scored a first goal for Croatia in Euro'96 when he ran a full length of the pitch to score against Turks in 86th min. Sold a few dummies to the German defence in quarterfinals. But, that was in '96. He needs to get back in form.

It depends how high is your criteria.

He's not as good as ***sic or Suker, and never will be. However:

He was twice the best scorer of Croatian league, and he was very good in "Padova", but he was obviously not good enough for "Valencia" or, in other words, "Valencia" was too big for him to swolow.

Hope he'll make it in "Panathenaikos", since we're short of good players at his particular age. (As a matter of fact, if the combination of injuries and bench-warming in "Valencia" did not put him down too much, I'm sure that he will.)

One other of his notable goals was the one against Germany in Lyon.

I'm not saying he hasn't accomplished anything in his career, but I just don't think too much of him. AFter his season in Padova a few years back, I thought Cro could have had a great three pronged attack with Suker and ***sic, but Vlaovic has disapointed. Maybe he'll do well at Pana, but I have my doubts.

Vlaovic shouldn't even be considered for the NT. The guy screw up all the time. All he ever did for us was scoring the second goal in Zagreb against Ukraine in WC qualifying. Other than that he's done nothing. Ciro would sooner give him a chance than Peternac. He'd sooner give him a chance than guys like Vastic and Strupar. That's why they play for other countries now. Vastic is surely better than Vlaovic.

Let me remind you of Vlaovic's goal against Turkey in Euro'96 and against Germany in World Cup '98. I wouldn't quite say he always screws things up.

I forgot the Turkey goal, that was a good one. The one against Germany wasn't that good, the keeper should have stopped it. But keep in mind, this is a guy who always used to get chances and messed up, now he doesn't even get chances.

Well here in Greece the PAO fans seem to be excited about him.And remember Greece only has about 3 or 4 "strong" teams.We are no Spain,so Vlaovic might play better in a smaller league.

He could do well there. I do hope he does well. I may not think much of him right now, but everyone can improve. If he can regain the form he had at Padova a few years back, he can do very well at Pana. :)
