Gençlerbirliği Oftaşspor gained promotion from Turk Telekom League A on Saturday, and will compete in the Super Lig next season. Oftaş will be the fourth top-flight club from the capital city Ankara (the others are Gençlerbirliği, Ankaragücü and Ankaraspor). Up until 2003, Oftaş were known as ASASSpor, until a financial crisis led to their purchase by Gençlerbirliği, who use them as a reserve team - all Oftaş players are officially under contract with the larger club. Because of this arrangement, as Oftaş headed for promotion some commentators had questioned the legality of such a situation. The Turkish Football Federation recently gave the OK to the promotion.
