Ajax sign Kennedy

Amsterdam, 15 mei 2007
Ajax have signed Kennedy Bakircioglü. The 26-year old Swedish player, who transfers to Ajax from FC Twente, today signed a four-year contract that will run from 1 July.

,,I am very happy to be playing for Ajax from now on”, a smiling Bakircioglü says after he has signed his contract in the office of technical director Martin van Geel. Wearing the Ajax shirt he explains why Ajax is the right club for him. ,,Ajax are a good and big club, who also play the attacking style that suits me best. The feeling is very good.”

Bakircioglü began his professional career in 1996 with Swedish club Assyriska. He moved to Hammarby three years later and captured the Swedish title there in 2001. After two years with Greek side Iraklis, he joined FC Twente in the summer of 2005. He immediately became a mainstay in Enschede, who drew attention for his dangerous offensive moves and excellent shot. The 2006-2007 season meant his real breakthrough. He scored 15 goals in the Dutch league and reached the playoffs for a Champions League ticket with FC Twente.

Ajax were among the clubs who were impressed by the forward. ,,After Mauro Rosales left, we kept a close eye on him”, Van Geel says about his latest signing. ,,Besides being a good football player he also is a guy that fits in our group well.” Kennedy, as is his football name, did not have to think long when Ajax came calling. ,,Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is a good friend of mine, had already told me positive stories about the club. I am looking forward to the upcoming seasons and I hope we can make the supporters happy.”

Great signing ! We were really lacking some good players on the right flank, especially with Tom De Mul not extending his contract, we have no decent player on the right flank in our traditional 4-3-3 system.

But Kennedy is far better than De Mul and is a strong addition to this Ajax squad which is really turning into a top-team.

Respect for Kennedy he chose Ajax above PSV, even though we still haven't qualified for CL and PSV has, it shows which team is truly the best in Holland :D

He really looks eager to impress his new team and has fantastic technical abillities which suit Ajax as well.

Oh yeah

I read that whole thread. At first I thought it was a ridiculous title by a troll, when I saw it was a mod, I thought it was a downfall for the site. Too bad that you didnt bring out any facts, other than quoting that one interview. All the talk about Expressen being a tabloid, although Zlatan gave a full interview with direct quotes as a response to Aftonbladets slander where they didn't even ask Zlatan before writing that he was gonna go to Bosnia. Not trying to blame you though. I had planned to straighten the story out, I was mighty disappointed to find it was ended and I couldn't answer.

My favorite post of the entire thread was when someone said something about Zlatan's accent in the ESPN interview being bosnian haha. Zlatan's accent is so extremely Malmö based that it's been comical. Way before that idiotic thread, Zlatans accent has been a joke amongst Swedes, I love when he tricks with a gum and says "Joga bonito", haha. He spreaks more skåne than English, portugese or whatever language he' using at the moment

I was banned several times because i had an different opinion in that thread and that i sticked with my point of it.

However it was impossible to explain for them that Expressen isn't a tabloid that writes rumours about everything.

Yeah man his accent is so cool, his Skåne version rocks :smoking:
