View Full Version : Emra Tahirovic will he end up playing for Sweden or Bosnia?
The young promising striker which currently plays for Halmstads BK in the Swedish league Allsvenskan has played awesome during the first games of the seasons and scored an fantastic goal yesterday.
The headlines in the Swedish news today was if he will end up playing for Sweden in the future.
Emra Tahirovic is born in Sarajevo 1987 but moved to Sweden because of the war 1992.
http://img.aftonbladet.se/sport/0608/14/tahir.jpg
He's 188cm and looks like Ibrahimovic in his gamestyle.
He has double citizenships but theirs no doubt that he wants to play for Sweden.
"Yeah that's my biggest dream to play for the swedish nationalteam but i haven't got any opportunities yet"
He's not strange to play for the bosnian NT if he doesn't get the chance in Sweden.
"No, if i don't get the chance soon i will most certainly chose Bosnia"
Well if this turns out to be another Ibra case of upset Bosnian fans you can now see what this kid really wants.

No not at all. No offence but the Swedish league is as exciting as watching a race between a turtle and a one-legged spider. I only get updates on how well Eguren is doing, as well as Larsson.

As i've said earlier, his talent developed here in Sweden not in Bosnia. He wants to play for Sweden, so what are you complaining about? Do you guys borrow players to another nation for developing and then you want them back?
He played his first game for Sweden for some days ago against Switzerland in U21 and if he gets the call up to Sweden's A-Team he will take it without blinking twice.

Seriously dude, cool off. No one is forcing him to play for Sweden. As you can see he rather wants to play for Sweden than Bosnia. Why don't you go and think about why that is, instead of accusing us of "stealing another one"

first of all why does he have a girls name? :)
second i have articles hehe just like last time (lest start it when it's fresh lol)
our coach is funny about the situation haha
#383 (http://forums.soccerfansnetwork.com/showpost.php?p=836065&postcount=383)
haha
Emra obviously wants to play for Bosnia but our coach said
that is only his wish...but i don't know who he is ... I know that there are a lot of talented youths with bosnian roots all over the europe
he also said that Emra should come to Bosnia over "summer break" (as in school break haha) so they can se him or he can send in a tape ... they don't have money to follow talents over Europe
it's same case as in Zlatan
last time i was laughing and thinking we didn't need Zlatan and it's same with this guy (there is a catch here :))

Why don't you make us another war and recruit some more immigrants that way?
I swear to god I hope Sweden and BiH make it to the finals and just for the fun of it BiH knocks you out, I know that Zlatan would be too ashamed to step on that pitch.
I have a 1,000 friends here immigrants from BiH, in the same situation as Emra and some just like Zlatan and NONE of them would ever consider playing for another country, and I know that is true wherever I go. I just don't know what you Swedes are putting into their pockets but it must be better than gold.

I think it's wierd that he says he will choose Sweden if he doesn't get a call from Bosnia when our coach never heard of him ... plus we have no room for him (and he probably knows that) (Dzeko, Muslimovic, Custovic and Ibisevic) but if we say we have no room for him, how does Sweden (a better team today 6.6.2007 :)) have room for him?
The fact he is playing and scoring lots of goals in Sweden's league doesn't mean much as if he would be doing it in Bundesliga, EPL etc ... I doubt top 4 teams in Sweden are much better than top 4 teams from Bosnia.
Anyway i don't care if he plays for us or not (just like last time :)) because he is his own man and he can choose.
if he plays for sweden he won't be the first or last to betray his roots :)
this is a minor deal in my books ...if this was a midfielder or a defender it would be a different story

How about the chance of playing in a World Cup/Euro Cup, which is not likely to happen for Bosnia in the near future. Quit acting like a bitch because your own players won't even wear your jersey.

plus in their minds (probably rightfully up to today) playing for foreign teams (any foreign team expect Luxembourg <-- i might be wrong on this one) is better choice for their career i.e. getting to a big name football club

Man up kid and make some real Swedish babies that can play the game. I'm not sad to be losing these guy's talent. Don't worry about that we have enough talent to win, but it makes me mad that these boys will act like they are a proud to be "Swedish" when they have a country, amazing culture that they can't have a reason not to be proud of.
On the other hand it makes me sick to my stomach that my country would ever think of stealing a Swedish talent over my own to play for my NT. Whomever has the strength to pull this off and act proud of it I will for sure always be against.
And you want to bash BiH? BiH has been around for what a decade? and already making great challenges for a place in a major tournament, WC, now Euro. Compare us to you, and even compare our populations and you will be proud and maybe even regret for trying to take foreign players.
Give it another few years and you will see all 3 powers from Ex-Yugoslavia, Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia making these major competitions and playing as favorites and contendors every match not just to sucky nations but playing as favorites when playing you.
And just another thought, do you really truely believe that these foreigners will play their heart out for "Sweden"? Because I truely believe that they don't have that ability in them, not for Sweden.

why dont bosnia just get him and depends how old he is probably under 21
just play him on under 21 bosnia squad few games and if he does kick ass
just call him up
wtf does he want
to play on bosnia or swedish squad right away
he will get a better chance of playing on bosnias squad over swedish
bosnia u-21 squad would suit him for now

Yes I bash BiH, but only compared to Sweden, who is far superior. And no offence, but I don't think that they are going to any tournament soon (soon as in the next 10-20 years).
And "powers"? Nah, don't see it happening. But I will be the first one congratulating you if I'm wrong.
As for the players feelings for their nationality, I know that Zlatan is a 100% former Yugoslavia type of guy, I don't think for one second he truly loved Sweden and the NT before becoming a part of it. I haven't met one single Bosna/Croat/Serb etc who actually roots for Sweden, praise the country etc. And since he lived in kind of a "ghetto" in Sweden, I know he was even more aware of his past and used to call Swedes "Svenne" or "Svennar." So I understand why you are pissed, but like Sinter said, they have a chance of getting both discovered and playing in a major tournament, so they take it.

we are better than we look

^yes thats true
but whatever soccer has taught you is that anything can happen my friend
do not underestimate us and just put us out just yet
we have hungary and moldova next and hopefully get 6 points off both teams
while greece plays norway and bosnia
and hopefully norway can beat them or get point off them
and that we can do the same going for win or getting a point would be good too
but win we have to go for
and after that my friend
they play turkey away and i hope turkey beats them so then count us in
see its too early to judge us
3 hard games for greece coming up
turkey will get back on track and will be rolling past malta, hungary, moldova
before playing greece
so i do believe that turkey can kick greece off that first spot and that bosnia can make it to second i hope
i am just upset that greece won 2 games barely by 1 goal
malta and moldova, shittiest teams in our group
so that counts too
if they didnt then it would have been even better for us
the moral of the story is
dont count out anyone just yet
this is a 4 way horse race
Turkey Bosnia Greece Norway

How retarded is this ?. You guys are having a war so other countries does the right thing and let your refugees come to a stable country, when we do, you start complaining that Bosnians that grew up in Sweden end up playing for the Swedish NT. How about showing some appreciation ?, Muslimovic might very well not be playing football today if it wasn't for him being in the Swedish football school. He gave you 3 points yesterday. Actually you are wrong, before his first match for Sweden. Zlatan stated in interviews that the Swedish NT and also playing in Italy was the goals he had set up for himself as a football player. He stated that he would want to follow in the steps of Yksel Osmanovski (which he did and then some)
P.S How about giving any Bosnian-Swedish threads a rest DaRealest. I'm just saying.

Yeah that's very true Viking. Tahirovic has potential to be a very good footballer but it's a long way to go.
However the swedish future looks good and i have big expectations in the U21 players, espacially Johan Oremo. PSV has already shown interest in signing him and he's very talanted indeed.

no need for another fight, players choose their countries they want to play for, obviously some will rather chose the country which gave them a home, education, and a life over one that gave nothing.
