I just read this tragic and sad article on Sabah. Its really a emotional story and I needed to just share it with you.
Since I find this an article which I want to share with all I will do my best to translate it into English for those who aren't Bosnian since you might decide to come and help out also.
This true story is about a family (Jusupović) and their tragic outcome. The family moves to the US during the war at home. They come to the US with not much money in their pockets and with only a hope in life. But it all sadly becomes a tragedy.
The mother of the family dies of illness and a year later the father follows also leaving 4 children behind (Senada 20, Samir 18, Indira 16 and Samira 10). The children begin to work to support them selfs and all start going to school without any parents to look after them or family in a lost world. Samir spends endless hours staying after work to support his family. He takes matters into his own hands and tries to create some hope for him and his 3 sisters.
One tragic night as Samir comes from work he hears screams for help in a voice in Bosnian. As he runs into the building he finds himself facing an African American man who shot Samir's close friend Ibrahima Kurjaka following his decision not to steal. And as a hero Samir reaches to snatch the gun away from the gunmen to save a life. The gunman holds on to the gun and wrestles Samir away. He shoots a 3 bullets with one bullet into Samir which hits a nerve close to Samir's spine. Samir is annoucnced to be paralyzed for the rest of his life. With no man to be looking after the other 3 daughters and not a single working person, little to no hope is left for the family's sake.
However officials of a rehabilitation center in Fojnica (Bosnia-Herzegovina) say that through therapy and proper help Samir might walk again since his spine in fact is still intact. The center has helped others get their ability to walk again also. However the transfer of Samir to Fojnica will cost and thats where we can all help restore this young hero back to a healthy condition.
Now here is the main purpose of this thread and why I am coming to you. We can all make a change. Through donation we can get Samir to where he needs to be. Any donation would be fine. As long as you can help. We are all Bosnians here and we can all help this young man whose life has been a wreck since the beginning of the War to the point he is in now.
Only we can make a change. Join me in the donations.
