Swedish international Christian Wilhelmsson is set to sign for Bolton "in the next 24 hours", according to the Premiership club.

The 27-year-old winger will arrive on a season-long loan from French side Nantes with a view to a permanent deal.

Wilhelmsson spent the second half of last season on loan at Serie A side Roma.

Bolton boss Sammy Lee said: "I am delighted that we have finalised the deal to bring Christian Wilhelmsson to Bolton.

"We have been working on this deal for some time and our patience has paid off.

"He is a versatile winger and will add a new dimension to our new style of play we are going to implement this season.

"One of his greatest attributes is that he is capable of playing on both the left and right flank with relative ease.

"He likes to attack and will give us the perfect outlet to provide good service to our attackers."

The former Anderlecht star, who has 40 Sweden caps, is awaiting international clearance and could play against Tranmere at Prenton Park on Saturday.

Goals from Bobby Zamora, Craig Bellamy and Freddie Ljungberg sealed an impressive 3-1 win for West Ham United in a pre-season friendly against Southend United on Saturday afternoon.

In a Centenary celebration match for the Essex-based League One outfit, Alan Curbishley named a strong starting 11 and saw his players respond with a hard-working and professional display to see off their local rivals.

After a fairly quiet start, Hammers almost opened the scoring on 13 minutes. New Club captain Lucas Neill - who only returned to pre-season training yesterday following his Asia Cup campaign with Australia - whipped in a quickly-taken free-kick from the right that was met by Zamora, whose firm header was kept out by Darryl Flahavan.

Ten minutes later, the striker came even closer to finding the net, when he headed Bellamy's cross against the bar from just a few yards out after the Welsh striker had broken free on the right.

It was third time lucky on the half hour mark, though. A neat piece of play from the commanding Neill found Ljungberg, whose raking crossfield pass bounced over the Shrimpers' defence and, without time to let the ball drop, Zamora cleverly sent a looping header over Flahavan into the net.

Six minutes before the break, it was 2-0, as Etherington's deep free-kick from the right was flicked on to the crossbar by Bowyer, and Bellamy was on hand to nod home his first goal for the Club.

Five minutes into the second half, another new signing also hit the net for the first time in a West Ham United shirt to make it 3-0. A weak back-pass from Southend's Steven Hammell let in Zamora, who skipped round Flahavan and then cut the ball back for Ljungberg, whose shot took a slight deflection on its way into the net.

The hosts pulled one back six minutes later, when captain Maher struck a shot from the edge of the penalty area that seemed to deceive the unsighted Green and looped past him into the net.

As the game drew to a close, Curbs withdrew the likes of Zamora, Ljungberg and Etherington ahead of Tuesday's trip to Norwich City and, with two weeks to go until the start of the new Premier League campaign, the Hammers boss will have been satisfied by his team's performance as well as their fitness levels today.

The Valencia already has the word of Kallstrom

If the clubs reach an agreement, the Swedish will sign for four seasons
A good part of the optimism that the Valencia has in the last demonstrated days before the possibility of closing the draftee of Kallstrom shortly bases on which the own player already has given the OK him to the contract that he would have in Mestalla and that would unite to him to the blanquinegros during the four next campaigns. Through telephone conversations, the player has been enchanted with the valencianista interest. And he is that, according to they confess from his surroundings, a supply of Spanish Liga seduces anyone.
VALENCIA/RAFA MARÍN

If finally the operation is closed, international the Swedish would improve his economic conditions, although that will not imply that the wage ceiling of 1.8 million, since it would remain in a second step, with a card around 1,5 overflows. And it is that its present pay, little more of a million annual one, is of the lower middle class of the Lyon.
They count in Mestalla that in spite of the prudence in its declarations, Kallstrom is in favor crazy of music. The telephone OK to the conditions of their new contract took place in few days, once the sport direction left of side the route of the Oporto and Lucho González and reactivated the one that during several weeks stayed like plan B.
The Valencia has from yesterday an emissary in Lyon. The objective of the club was to accelerate the managements this weekend and that Kallstrom is contained the t-shirt blanquinegra in a matter of days. The Olympique in the evening raised the drop curtain of the official season with the dispute of Supercopa before the Sochaux, an appointment with a title in game that it has pushed to him to run a dense veil on the exit of Kallstrom. Those of Mestalla, nevertheless, trusted that the meeting - agreed to it took place after the party, already at night, and they did not even discard that the contacts had continuity today and tomorrow. After the telephone conversations that have taken place throughout the week, the positions have approached, although the Olympique, that yes, maintain its expensive intransigente pose to the outside and are afraid of the conditions of the supply of the VCF.
When more encarrilada seemed, the negotiation the past bared a little Friday with the presence of Roger Ljung in Lyon. The agent of the Swedish practically demanded a crossing yes or yes. An aggressive position that it infuriated to Marino Faccioli, chief of a main directorate, and to president Classrooms, whose answer, to less than 24 hours of Supercopa, was to hang in its Web an official notice in which announced, on the one hand, a supposed proposal of international contract extension for the Swedish and, by the other, that a very vague” supply of the Valencia had rejected “.
In spite of it, in Mestalla they breathe calm, since they consider that one is a maneuver facing the typical gallery of Classrooms, that wants to make clear that if transfers to Kallstrom she is because that one is the will of the soccer player, but not it hers. It is more, sources near the player admitted yesterday not only that the Swedish has rejected to extend his contract, but that could be a nonexistent proposal that not even transferred to him to Ljung, but that hung directly in the Web and point. They tell yes, that, that the lioneses are gotten upset with the Swedish intermediary and who this rubbing could cause that the operation dilates days more.
The position of the Valencia continues being the same one. Culebrón wants to avoid another one, and although the last events have supposed a small misfortune in the objective to settle the subject by the fast route with vis à vis, the certain thing is that between the player and the Lyon so much has been tightened the cord that is question of days that is broken of a side or the other. Kallstrom does not want to renew, it has given the verbal OK him to the Valencia and it has requested to him to Classrooms that transfer it. Lack to alter the supply of crossing, one 13 million, and to wait for events.

Juve's Swede dreams

Juventus are being linked with Aston Villa stopper Olof Mellberg and unsettled midfielder Tiago Mendes may take his place in the Premier League.

Despite their successful start to the campaign, the Bianconeri are still looking for another defender to replace the injured Jorge Andrade.

Youngster Domenico Criscito has performed well in the role, but he has also fallen victim to injury niggles and Mellberg is eyeing a move to the peninsula.

“After seven years in Birmingham I would like to move to a big Italian or Spanish side who will be in Europe next year,” the Swedish international recently stated.

Mellberg could arrive in Turin on a free transfer this summer as his contract with Villa expires in June and sporting director Alessio Secco is expected to travel to open talks with him soon.

Meanwhile, there are rumours that West Ham are preparing a bid for Tiago, whose days in Turin seem to be numbered.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Hammers are ready to step in with a £5m offer in January – a fee that Juve are likely to accept.

While Tiago has been linked with Fiorentina, he has already played in England with Chelsea and is yet to settle in Italy.

Källstrom to Milan?

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi is ready to oversee a massive £70 million spending spree from the turn of the year.

Corriere dello Sport says the mega warchest will be split with £25 million available in January and £45 million to be spent at the end of the season.

Top of the shopping list for the winter market are Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro and Barcelona fullback Gianluca Zambrotta.

For the summer market, among the names in the frame are Valencia midfielder David Albelda, Lyon's Kim Kallstrom and Palermo ace Amauri.

£70mil i doubt it maybe £7mil but its clear to see that we need reinforcements and not just 33 year-olds how about some 23-24 year-olds.

Three way tie for Toulouse forward Johan Elmander

http://www.lemagazine.info/IMG/index_toulouse.jpg

Now there is a funny love story, an awesome foursome really. There are three guys and one girl and all the guys want the girl with some desperation. They are ready to spend as much money as they can and are all too eager to impress the girl to lure her to their respective domains.

Te girl in question is the Toulouse forward Johan Elmander and his potential courtiers are Spanish giants l Madrid, Premiership high flyers Manchester City and Premiership strugglers Tottenham Hotspur. ESPN Soccernet reports that a spokesman for the French club has confirmed to the Swedish newspaper Expressen about the amusing triangle building around the 26-year Swedish international.

The spokesman told the newspaper:

Besides Real Madrid, Premier League clubs Manchester City and Tottenham have already expressed interest.

Elamander was a key figure in guiding Toulouse to a UEFA Champions League qualifier this season and is rated highly as striker in France. Now that interest in him has been confirmed, the player could face some dilemma over which club to join.

Joining Real Madrid would certainly assign him to the Bernabeu dugout where he would have to warm the bench along with a host of top draw players. Joining Man City could provide him with more chances but wouldn’t necessarily guarantee him first team action right form the start. Spurs would provide Elmander with more games since Spurs manager Juande Ramos has made it clear that he is looking for strikers but Elmander might not relish the scenario of moving to a club struggling in the Premiership

The two clubs agreed a £500,000 fee for the 30-year-old, who has agreed a two-year deal with the Istanbul outfit.

"I know that the clubs are talking with each other," Majstorovic told Sportbladet.

"I have also talked to the club. The coming days might be interesting.

"Besiktas is a big club in Europe, fighting for a place in the Champions League and playing in Europe every year."

Majstorovic's capture could be the second defensive deal in a short time for Besiktas after they were also linked with a swoop for Aston Villa's Gary Cahill.

Cahill is currently on loan at Sheffield United - who also want to secure his signature along with a string of other Championship clubs.

However, Besiktas are believed to be keen to take him to Turkey and could make an offer in the next week.

Sunderland's new £2m striker Rade Prica capped a perfect debut by scoring the second goal in a 2-0 home win against Birmingham City on Tuesday.
The Swedish international came on as a substitute at half-time and was delighted with the impact he made.

He told BBC Radio Newcastle: "A goal in the first game in front of a fantastic audience. It couldn't be better.

"As a striker you have to be aware of the defender's mistakes and I was on my toes."

The 27-year-old was quick to credit his strike partner Kenwyne Jones whose presence has been vital to the Black Cats so far this season.

"He's a great player and wins everything, it's easy to play beside him."

With his debut out of the way, Prica is now hoping to set about the rest of the Premier League, starting with Liverpool on Saturday.

"There are a few really big teams in England, Liverpool is one of them and it's a dream to go and play."

Elmander Reveals His Juve Dream

Toulouse striker Johan Elmander has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Juventus, and has admitted that he has dreamed of playing for the Bianconeri since he was a child.

galleria zoom Juventus have identified the signing of a centre forward as one of their primary objectives in the summer transfer market.

Recent reports emanating from Italy suggest that Toulouse hitman Elmander has jumped to the front of the queue of possible targets.

In an interview with Tuttosport, the Swedish international revealed his wish to make the move to Turin.

"I want to join a great team and I'm ready for Italy. I've dreamed of playing for Juventus since I was a child,” he declared.

"My strongest side is my right, I score a lot with my head but I can improve.

"My inspiration is Marco van Basten, but my role models were close to home because my father and my grandfather played in the Swedish league."

Elmander also commented on Juve’s signing of fellow Swede Olof Mellberg, who will join the Old Lady in the summer on a Bosman transfer from Aston Villa.

"Mellberg is a Viking who is as hard as a rock and with the mentality of a boxer. He is a great market coup for the Bianconeri," concluded the striker.

Fiorentina Join Majstorovic Hunt

According to the latest reports out of Italy, Fiorentina are planning a summer swoop for Swedish international defender Daniel Majstorovic.

The news will be frowned upon by Lazio, who have been tracking the 30-year-old since well before Christmas.

Majstorovic's contract at FC Basel expires in the summer, meaning that the team who are able to present the best personal package will be the one to clinch his signature. Fiorentina not only have more money at their disposal, but they are in good stead to qualify for the Champions League this season, which one would assume would effectively be the deal-clincher.

A move to Italy would be a huge step up for the robust centreback in any case, as the nine-time capped Swedish international has had a modest club career to date, playing for the likes of Malmo and Fortuna Koln of Germany.

Ljungberg Dismisses Exit Talk

Injury-plagued West Ham winger Freddie Ljungberg is sure that he'll be a Hammer next season, despite reports to the contrary...

Reports have suggested that West Ham gaffer Alan Curbishley will sell a portion of his squad to fund rebuilding at the end of the season.

The Hammers' progress has stalled this season due to injury troubles - something former Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg is no stranger to.

Reacting to talk suggesting the Swedish international could be part of a sumer exodus, Ljungberg hinted that he sees himself at Upton Park next season.

The 30-year-old told Setanta: "Maybe there will be [people leaving], we have a very big squad and maybe they will if they are going to bring in some players.

"But I think whatever the manager does to make the squad better or the team better, that is a good thing.

"I am looking forward to [next season]. When I joined they said they wanted to build a new team and maybe a little bit like Chelsea did, they are willing to spend the money to make a great side, and that is probably the same thing we will do this summer - spend a bit and go a bit further on."

Bremen hail Sweden's invisible man

http://norrkoping.expressen.se/polopoly_fs/1.960676!slot100slotWide75ArticleFull/3447786819.jpg

Having stealthily become one of the most dangerous strikers in the German Bundesliga, Sweden's Markus Rosenberg is hitting peak form just in time for UEFA EURO 2008™.

Team player
Other forwards may have caught the eye in Germany this season, not least FC Bayern München's Luca Toni, but Rosenberg – signed from AFC Ajax for around €4m in January 2007 – may yet prove to be the unheralded star of the campaign. He has registered eleven goals and eight assists in the league already, underlining his growing reputation as one of the better team players in the Bundesliga.

Slow start
Comfortable with both feet and his head, the former Malmö FF striker scored 12 goals in 40 league games for Ajax before joining Bremen, and made a slow start to life in north-west Germany. "I needed time at Bremen to get used to the surroundings," he said, having largely started as a substitute in his first calendar year in Bremen. However, his goalscoring record from the bench did not go unnoticed, and since being given more of a run in the first team since last November, he has scored plenty of fine goals like a back-heeled effort against BV Borussia Dortmund on 1 March. "That was an absolutely crazy goal," he remembered. "I hoped the ball would go in on its own but it didn't so I went after it."

Striking foil
Nicknamed 'Rosi' at Bremen, the 25-year-old's selfless work is drawing admiring glances in Germany, and Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs recently said of him that "Markus is getting better and better". With Sweden still seeking a striking foil for Zlatan Ibrahimović, that can only be good news with UEFA EURO 2008™approaching, and Rosenberg hungry to add to his six goals in 21 caps. An unused squad player at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Rosenberg may yet move ahead of Johan Elmander in the Swedish pecking order as Lars Lagerbäck seeks the right player to complement the the brilliant Ibrahimović. Coaches will expect the FC Internazionale Milano man to lead the line for Sweden, so Rosenberg may be the ideal player to strike from the shadows when opponents least expect it.

Hey, one question. You know Emra Tahirovic from your youth team? Did he decide on which country he will play for and if you don't know, do you know when he will decide? I wouldn't have a problem if he chose Sweden, because you guys trained him and raised him, but if we get him somehow, I want to say thank you for raising him as a great player.

Vic
04-23-2008, 04:39 PM
I have no idea where he will end up but I have a feeling that he will end up playing with BiH.

There's too many good strikers in Sweden at the moment and if Emra wants to play international footie on a high level soon he will most likely chose BiH.

Ibra 26
Elmander 26
Rosenberg 25
M.Berg 21

These players will hopefully play upfront for many years to come with Sweden. About Emra I believe that he needs to show his talent more often. He's a huge talent, no doubts about that.

Let the future tell us.

Isaksson High On PSV’s Shopping List

http://staticblog.hi-pi.com/gisblogMnt-se-sportsblogg/rikard/images/gd/1201818006.jpg

With Heurelho Gomes poised to leave Eindhoven this summer, PSV have turned their attention to England in search of a worthy successor. But it’s not Englishmen they’re after…

The Brazilian international goalkeeper has turned from hero to villain for the Eredivisie champions after falling out with the almighty managing director Jan Reker in public. And should he leave the club he’s spent the last four years with, Andreas Isaksson could take his place.

PSV Eindhoven have been closely monitoring the Swedish international’s situation at Manchester City, where he’s played in only 20 matches since his three-million-euros move from Stade Rennais on August 15, 2006. And the Dutch must have been pleased to learn that the towering 26-year-old custodian wants out of City, despite the fact that Mark Hughes has replaced Sven- Göran Eriksson as coach and manager.

“I don’t really care. Hopefully, I won’t be at the club next season,” he told Thomson Reuters news agency in an interview yesterday. And despite rumours that the former Trelleborgs, Juventus Turin and Djurgårdens shot-stopper could join Fulham, PSV Eindhoven may count themselves as favourites to land Isaksson – but at the right price, as his contract expires in mid-2009.

Fülöp and Velthuizen

The Eredivisie champions have other options as well, although it looks like Hungarian Márton Fülöp of Sunderland, who also wants out of his current club, prefers to join Stoke City instead. PSV have reportedly offered 626,000 euros for the 25-year-old international, who’s just featured six times between the sticks for The Black Cats since November 2006. However, Roy Keane, who would be glad to see Fülöp stay on, thinks that the bid is too low, while the former Hungária and Tottenham keeper favours a move to The Potters, where he spent part of this season on loan before they gained promotion to the Premier League.

Should their efforts to sign either of these England-based players prove fruitless, PSV could then focus to Vitesse’s impressive youngster Piet Velthuizen, considered as one of Europe’s most promising goalies.

PSV Target Isaksson Racing Towards Exit

http://notw.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2007/09/22/isaksson.jpg

Manchester City's unsettled Swedish keeper Andreas Isaksson has made it clear that he wants his proposed move to PSV Eindhoven to go through as soon as possible.

The Dutch press had claimed that the 26-year-old was set to arrive in Eindhoven on Wednesday to undergo a medical, but Iasksson's latest comments suggest that the deal will be considerably more drawn out than that.

“I know that PSV are interested and Manchester City don’t mind if I move,” Isaksson told Sportbladet.

“They are ready to sell me. I hope it will be solved. It’s not a bad club to join.

“I would like to join a bigger club who believe in me and who have ambitions. That is the most important thing.

“Training resumes for pre-season on July 14, I have a contract here but I hope I don’t have to return.”

The giant Swede lost his place in the Manchester City starting line up to Joe Hart last season after which he spent most of the rest of the campaign stewing on the bench yearning for a move.

PSV complete signing of goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson

Andreas Isaksson. PSV Media - Andreas Isaksson put pen to paper on a four-year contract with PSV on Wednesday afternoon. The 26-year-old, who joins PSV from Manchester City, was Sweden’s first-choice goalkeeper at the Euro 2008. Isaksson passed a medical earlier on the day.

59 caps
Isaksson, born in Trelleborg on 3 October 1981, spent the greater part of career as goalkeeper at Djurgården, after he had been scouted by Juventus at an early age. He came through the Youth set-up at the Italian club where he did not make the first team. After a four-year spell in the Swedish league, he joined Rennes in France in 2004, where he made 62 appearances in two seasons. Midway the 2006/07 season, he completed a move to Manchester City but did not feature much at the City of Manchester Stadium due to injury problems. He has gained 59 caps for the Swedish national team. Sweden did not survive the group stages at the Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. They beat Greece 2-0 in their opening game, but suffered defeats against Spain (1-2) and Russia (0-2).

Ninth Swedish PSV player
Many Scandinavian players plied their trade at PSV before. The first Scandinavian ever to join PSV was the Swede Dan Enker. The full left back scored one goal in 23 league games from 1958 until 1960. Ralf Edström is undoubtedly the best-known Swedish player in PSV colours. The internationally renowned striker arrived in Eindhoven in 1973 and became the crowd’s favourite when he scored 55 goals in 112 league games in four seasons. Until today, Klas Ingesson was the latest Swedish player in Eindhoven. The midfielder joined PSV in 1993, but stayed with PSV for only one season.

A survey of Swedish PSV players:
Dan Enker 1958-1960
Anders Svensson 1959-1963
Bjorn Nordqvist 1972-1975
Ralf Edström 1973-1977
Peter Dahlqvist 1974-1977
Torbjörn Nilsson 1976-1978
Glenn Hysén 1983-1986
