Giuseppe Rossi is confident he will be involved in Manchester United's plans next season.

The Italy Under 21 international is spending the second half of the season on loan at Parma after a frustrating first half with Newcastle United.

He has impressed for the Serie A strugglers, with Sir Alex Ferguson keen for the youngster to gain experience of regular first-team football.

The striker still feels his experience at St James' Park was worthwhile, and he confirmed he aims to make an impact at Old Trafford next term.

"My contract with United does not expire until June 2010 and I expect to complete it," Rossi is quoted by the Oldham Chronicle.

"It is important for young players to get their chance and I am getting my chance at Parma where I am turning out regularly and playing well.

"Going to Newcastle was also a good experience, though I didn't play as much, but the important thing was that I learned a lot while there."

Rossi was on show at the new Wembley Stadium on Saturday as Italy Under 21s drew 3-3 with England and he enjoyed the historic occasion.

He added: "Of course it was special to be there.

"Just by saying the name Wembley makes you have goose bumps. It was a great occasion and I think we put on a good show."

Well to be honest he'd have been mad to opt for the U.S over Italy. I mean he's as Italian as he is American and there is more chance of glory with Italy. The U.S. don't have a bad team but the Italians have a great team.

yeah and he'll get his first cap when he's 27 im not even sure he will ever be a regular on an italian national team at least not while totti is around. he would have been instantly starting on the us squad with donavan and played for years.

Good point but depends how he develops. If he becomes a Utd regular then he has a good chance of getting in the national setup. Players get their chances when injuries come about and if he performs well you never know but he's made the decision so that's that :) I take it you're American which is why you're not happy?

that is correct. it is just so frustrating to see one of the most talented americans we have had opt for their native country. but i hope he does excel with united i watch them play far more then the usa national team and would love for him to pan out it's just too bad we don't have him now with all the injuries to our strikers.

Well he has a loan contract till the end of the season so we won't see him this season but he will be back and fighting for a place next season. Fergie rates him and that's all that matters. He'll have to get used to a subs role though.

Porto and Juventus are battling it out to win Giuseppe Rossi's signature on loan for next season.

The 20-year-old Manchester United starlet was prolific after moving to Italy in January, scoring nine goals in 19 Serie A games for Parma.

Claudio Ranieri managed to get the best out of the American-born Italian striker, after he had endured a frustrating time at Newcastle United earlier in the season.

Juve have since appointed the 'Tinkerman' - known to be an admirer of the talented youngster - and Ranieri is eager to renew the partnership.

But United's purchase of Brazilian midfielder Andersen has complicated the issue, with Sir Alex Ferguson agreeing to give Porto preference in loaning players from the Premiership champions as part of the deal.

There is no indication that The Red Devils will even let Rossi back out on loan next season though, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer among a number of front-line members unsure of his future.

Louis Saha has suffered perennial lapses in fitness ever since moving to Manchester and speculation surrounding Alan Smith's contract also refuses to die down.

Rumours surrounding Nicholas Anelka have subsided, but the Old Trafford faithful would still like to see a new forward come in to improve the attacking options.

Rossi has stated his desire to forge a name for himself at the Theatre of Dreams next season, and that could prompt Ferguson to put his trust in the youngster, particularly if he is unable to enter in the transfer market again.

This is an interesting reports as I think most of us Utd fans were expecting him to be back at OT next season....

Giuseppe Rossi's agent has denied that a deal has been done to take his charge to Porto.

The Manchester United starlet is understood to be interesting the Portuguese giants along with Italian side Juvenuts.

Porto are believed to have secured an option as part of Anderson's move to United, which gives them the chance to sign a player on loan from Old Trafford.

Rossi is believed to be the player The Dragons want, but his future will not be decided until after the European Under 21 Championships - where he will feature for Italy.

"Giuseppe will go and play in Holland and we will than assess things when he returns," his agent Federico Pastorello told skysports.com.

Pastorello did deny having any talks with Porto and any other club about Rossi.

"Obviously I have read such things in the newspapers, but we have not talked with Porto or any club," he said.

"We are not thinking about that at the moment, Giuseppe did very well with Parma and he is now going to play for Italy.

"Things will be discussed at United in July."

Rossi himself has indicated that he would like to be playing regular first team football next season - following his excellent stint at Parma.

The youngster admitted he wants to be playing next term.

"I want to do well and then later go and speak with [Sir Alex] Ferguson and to know what he intends to do with me," he told Ojogo.

"Then I will make a decision. I want club I will play with regularly

Fergie won't lose him. To be fair we can't be 100% certain this is anything other than media speculation but if he does go out on loan it may not be for a full season but Fergie knows what a jewel he has so I don't see him being sold.

i dont always trust fergie at the transfer period, he goes a bit bonkers sometimes and gets caught up in things, he always eventually pulls through but this could be one of his mistakes.

Parma are waiting for a response from Manchester United after lodging a bid for Giuseppe Rossi.

The Italy Under 21 international spent the second half of last season on loan at Parma and played a major role in keeping the club in Serie A.

He is unsure of his future at Old Trafford and is planning talks with Sir Alex Ferguson upon his return for pre-season training early in July.

Rossi has pleaded for the chance to make an impact with the Premier League champions next season after also spending time on loan at Newcastle United.

But he could also be offered a return to Parma after president Tommaso Ghirardi confirmed a bid was on the table.

Reports in Italy claim Parma have bid €10million (£6.5million) for the forward and are now seeking an answer from United.

"We spoke with the player, with the Man Utd chief executive (David Gill) and with Sir Alex Ferguson, too," Ghirardi told the Italian press.

"Now it's up to them to give us an answer.

"Also, from a financial point of view, we made our offer and I think it completely answers Manchester's expectations.

"Certainly it would be really difficult to keep the player, but we believe in this."

I find it very unlikely Utd will want to cash in as he has a very bright future ahead of him but all depends on how many strikers Fergie wants at Utd next season. Smith is looking like he's on his way out, Saha is injured AGAIN and Ole can't last a season anymore and is also injury prone leaving just Rooney as the clear cut striking option. I think Utd will bring someone else in but Rossi has a role to play and he can also play as an attacking midfielder so think he'll return to Utd.

Also if Utd did decide to cash in I think there would be a lot more clubs interested than just Parma.

At last!! Ferguson has made a statement regarding the youngsters future after there was a lot of speculation in the media which Parma saying Utd had agreed to sell which was a load of crap!

Meanwhile, United youngsters Giuseppe Rossi and Gerard Pique will not be leaving United this summer, according to Ferguson.

Rossi and Pique had spells on loan at Parma and Real Zaragoza respectively and both clubs wanted to sign the players permanently.

"The lads going away proved themselves," Ferguson told the club's official website. "Giuseppe scored nine goals in 16 matches for Parma and the consensus is that he kept them up. Everyone says that.

"Gerard played 24 games for Zaragoza and did exceptionally well. We got all the videos of the players and watched what they did in training. They will certainly come back.

"Hopefully now we have a strong enough pool of players. That's one of the reasons I was keen to get the young lads who were away on loan last year back at the club.

"They will develop better with us. They may play more regularly away on loan, but training with us and being part of the squad brings them on immeasurably."

Good news. Rossi is an excellent prospect and the idea of selling him was crazy. I'd even begun to think the silence from Utd regarding his future mean't they were going to sell him! Hopefully that's the end of that!

Spoke too soon! He's off to Villareal now. Fergie admitted he tried his best to convince the kid to stay and fight for his place but the competition for places was too tough for him. Utd do have a buyback option on him so he may play for Utd again one day. This kid is going to be big!
