What do you think? All emotional attachments aside, when you compare Turkish clubs with European clubs do you think we can do well? Even fenerbahce which supposedly has the best roster in the league is maybe a step or two above middle grade clubs in Europe. Everyone says the results in Europe are shocking and surprising etc, but are they? I think results speak louder than words. It's not like Turkish club soccer has ever really been a huge presence in Europe. yes GS had a good run, but that does not make us a powerhouse. I think until we make our league much higher quality, we can forget about any major success. There will be occaisonal spikes and dips, but for the most part, we will get eliminated from CL early on, and at bets make it to the quarter finals in UEFA.:mad2:

...just to add, we have a huge potential to be big. We SHOULD be able to be one of the powerhouses in the world, like brasil, this goes without saying. But why can't we capitalize on this potential?

Well Turkey if u notice doesnt have a great youth training system, most of our quality turkish players are raised abroad. And Turks which are pretty good tend to go to Europe to play in better leagues.
Turkish teams are made up of usually 6 foriegners 5 turks. well at least the big 4. Even though we might have 6 quailty foriegners only 1-2 turkish players are of top quality, the others are mediocre. IMO we need to get rid of the foriegn cap or at least make it 8 foriegners at a time on the field.

We should eb able to have a good youth development program. Seems silly that we can't produce more quality players in acountry that lives and breathes for soccer. Brasil is the best example for us not European countries. their mentality etc is similar to ours (brasil). Also, theor kids play on the streets etc and have poverty much like us. Why can't we bring some of their youth development people over? It seems out players, even in the SL are lacking basic skills they should have learned when they were 10.

Fenerbahce will win the Uefa cup sooner or later. It just takes time and patience. However winning the CL is kinda unreal now for a Turkish team. But soon you might develop teams that can make it all the way to the Semis and perhaps win the whole thing. All it takes is luck and confidence.
