Good picture. they seemed overwhelmed by Turkey this time. that is 8 games between the 2 countries and not 1 win for Greece.

kanaryamerika

And again, Turkey was missing over half their first team; Emre, Yildiray, Arda, Rustu, Nihat, Fatih to name just a few.

I honestly think Greece bought into the negative press around the Turkish team and looked down at them - which is always dangerous. I was shocked to see ggreece like this.

yeah, I guess I didn't realize the importance for you guys. From our POV it was juts a derby game, i didn't know this was a historucally significant game for you guys and neither did anyone in turkey - this has gotten no press to be honest. In that case maybe Otto will be going home today?

Either way, a game is a game. There will be others in the future.

Seemed like your goalie made a couple of mistakes which cost you two goals. so the score might have not been as bad if it wasnt for that

Sorry about the loss guys but yesterday Türkiye had a better day at work.

Seems like your team still hasnt gotten over euro2004, they need to wake up and realize that they have to work even harder now that they have a reputation to maintain as the euro champions.

You also need to punish your fans because they will get your nation into trouble if they keep it up.

Cheers...

WELL ITS CERTENLY NOT ONLY GREECE WHO IS HAVING A BAD DAY TODAY!

The SERBS however must have had another Terrible day TODAY as well by LOOSING 2-1 to the simple team of our dear country KAZAKHSTAN  :D

and yeah Im neither satisfied with the 0-0 result between Alb vs.Slo game.:yell:

Nikopolidis and Charisteas must quit from the national team after this if they have guts. Zagorakis realized it and quited by himself, let's see if they leave too because if we expect from Rehagel..... I am surprised he did not use Kapsis - he would use Tsiartas and Nikolaidis too if he could  . He placed Charisteas on the top of the attack with players like Gekas and Salpingides in the bench.

Some of you are going to say that these players won Euro 2004 and blah, blah, blah.... OK, I don't deny it. That's why I was not much upset with them when they got eliminated from the World cup. But now they have no excuses - Rehagel has no excuses either. The fact that they won the European cup does not mean that they have the right to humiliate us by performances like the one yesterday.

I saw in TV the Turks were celebrating in the streets like they won a title - I understand, we would do the same if we had a 1-4 win in Turkey. Congratulations to their team for the win.

Don't be surprised if we draw with Malta in Wednesday. this is what happens when the stubborness of Rehagel brings the first terrible result - the second is a matter of time.

I would not say it would be wise to sack Rehagel right now because something like that would result many changes and we are in the middle of something - the Euro 2008 quialifiers. But most probably after the qualifiers Rehagel is going to quit, no matter if we qualify or not.

Personally I would like to see Bajevic as the next coach of the Greek national team, even if I am a supporter of Panathinaikos.

Otto will NOT change his players for the Malta game. He will still put Charisteas over Gekas (#1 goal scorer in Germany) and players in the backfield who cant jump or run anymore. As I posted in another thread, if Otto does not change, Greece will lose to Malta 2-0 and it could be over from that point.

first of all
the independance was in the 1800's my greek friends
try surviving a war like most of bosniaks did
and go into the game and lose to serbia 1:0
you have no idea how ashamed i was
i was sooooooooooooooooooooooooo pissed
and all over headlines they trashed us in their papers
you guys arent the only people to feel ashamed
many bosniaks did as well
we had a chance in sarajevo to take them out and we had key chances
but we didnt capitalize so i am still pissed at that game
so i know exactly what you guys are feeling

poutismalakas

())__Green__))>
03-27-2007, 03:57 AM
because you guys make it that its the worst thing in the world that has ever happened
you guys should move ahead and stop thinking of this
and think of getting revenge on turkey in their home next game
because i just said that because i know how you guys feel
just move on...

poutismalakas
03-27-2007, 04:07 AM
So what your saying is the Greek Independence War was nothing?

Dude your reading too much into our conversation. We are pissed that our coach, who in ALOT of people's opinion isn't putting the best possible team together and Saturday was proof! Im sure that most of Greece is chomping at the bit to get to Constantinopolis to get revenge on Turkey for the embarassment we went thru!

But first things first we need to smash Malta! When I say that I mean NO MERCY!! We need to treat them the way we treated Bosnia when you where down all those guys! WITH OUT MERCY!

())__Green__))>
03-27-2007, 04:18 AM
^ no im not saying its nothing
all wars are bad
but your war was in the 1800's
thats way past the time
but our war was in the 1990's
i could have easily been killed as well
all wars are evil... all lead to nothing but chaos and killings
im just trying to say that Greekgr made it seem like it was the worst thing in the history of the world that has ever happened
i know you guys must have been embarassed but you guys gotta get your touch back and try to do the same to turkey when you guys meet in istanbul
im just saying i know what you feel
dont forget
we got stupid results
we played nothing like the way we played against norway
we were still getting our touch after the dramatic world cup qualifier defeat
once we get the full team back but the ones that will improve us like bajramovic...
then we will be a strong force now that we got a new team and coach
anyways, greece has to win this game against malta
and i predict that they will
althought i am praying malta pulls off a miracle lol

Last time Bajevic worked at AEK was during Psomiadis' era. An era AEK had terrible economical and other problems and was a step near relegation. I would not say that the bad results in derbies were fault of Bajevic's fault.

Bajevic is characterized by the ability to create succesful teams from new young players.

This is what Greece needs. Someone who will detect talents who are not so famous and will fit them in the team. Someone who will stay in Greece, work and detect players, instead of coming in Greece only for the games like Rehagel.

Bajevic is also characterized by his conflicts with star-players. In Greece we don't have star-players so I think Bajevic would be the best choice as the substitute of Rehagel.

About the Istanbul vs constantinapole business- I was really only teasing you guys. But while on the topic, the Moscow, Muscovi example doesn't work. it's not the same thing. yes, countries, places etc sometimes have slight variations of names in different languages but this is a different instance. For example if you called istanbul Stamboul or something, that is fine. But constantinapolis is the old name that was changed 600 years ago and only the Greeks (maybe the russians too) call it that officially. But if you look on an internatinal map there is no Constantinapole, there is Istanbul, Stamboul etc. Do you see what I mean? Izmir is Smyrna, same thing, etc. No one calls New York new Amsterdam anymore. You may call it Nev York or however you can pronounce it, but not new Amsterdam. There's a difference between modifying a name to make it easier to say in your language and using a whole other name that is filled with historic significance. If the name of Istanbul changes to Tiki bum bum, that's what you would have to call it.

I don't disagree with the Greek influence on Istanbul, though it was really the Romans that built the foundations of the city. i am a big believer of Greek and Turkish comraderie. I think it's silly to take this stuff too seriously. Greeks and Turks are much closer to eachother in every way than most other nations.

NO worries but lets get in to the topic of else Pao with close or edit the thread!

I think Saturday was hopfully a BIG wake up call to Otto! He needs to understand he can't field that same team that was in thier late 20s early 30s (are now in their early to mid 30s) and expect them to play the same level of play 4 years later!!! What Greece needs to different goalie FOR ONE and too mix it up a bit bring in some younger guys!!! And stop dumb notion of scoring 1 goal and sitting on it!

Greece is very much alive for the top 2 seeds although Otto wont make the necessary changes and thats a concern for me.

Anyway, Turkey tied Norway 2-2 in a game where Turkey was down 2-0 by halftime. Greece had beaten Norway earlier in division play. If Norway had beaten Turkey, which Turkey tied at the 90th minute, then Greece and Turkey would be tied (not including tiebreakers) and Norway would be 3 points behind both teams (not including tiebreakers). Both Greece and Turkey play in Norway later on and that would make this division more tight, especially if Bosnia defeats Turkey on June 2.

The match in Bosnia on June 2 will not be easy. When Greece won in Bosnia, Bosnia was getting negative results before that match and the 4-0 win for Greece in Bosnia does not indicate that Greece was dominant. Bosnia's win in Norway will give them confidence now and they are still alive. Despite the Turkey win in Greece, Greece is technically 2 points behind for first place.

But, regarding the Malta game, these small teams can be a pain. Just recently, Azerbaijan beat Finland 1-0 and Kazakhstan beat Serbia 2-1.

Is it me or when a team plays against Turkey the goalie has a sudden mental breakdown? Turkey played well and had chances to score but the Norwegian goalie allowed 2 terrible goals and almost allowed another bad goal at the 75th minute. Observe:

the goalies tremble against the turkish offense! just kidding. yeah the goalie sucked, but he was known for beforehand this anyway. he played for besiktas in turkey and was sent away because of this. did you see the goal he let in from bosnia, same thing. he had the worst placement on that kick, and bosnia won cause of it. it's a known weakness and any team should shoot on goal on free kicks.
