Well on paper this looks like a Man U win but you never know, especially in the FA cup....
Neville has joined the list of casualties so Brown would be expected to take over as right back with Cathcart being promoted to the first team as backup. I think smith has a good chance of starting the game especially after his delightful cross that setup the second goal for Rooney on Sat. Either Giggs or Park will be dropped to the bench I think. Dong should also be on the bench and will probably have a chance of getting on ... assuming that we are winning by a few goals towards the end of the match ;)
If we play like we did on Sat we have a great chance but I'm not banking on the game going that way. I think it will be close.

Cup matches are ALWAYS different to league matches.
Man United wont worry so much IF they end up losing because they are still in the Champions league and of course still lead the premier league.
They will be dissapointed if they lose of course, but I think they will do enough to win this round.
The treble is a good enough reason for them to want to win :)

I think Watford in the next round is also an incentive especially as the winner of that will be heading to New Wembley ;)

Well I was right. It was close!! Boro's style of play stifled Utd and forced a boring first half although Rooney had a great chance to send us into Half time 1-0 up, almost exactly the same chance as he had against Bolton on Sat (where he chipped the keeper) but tried to go round Schwarzer and failed. Second half was a little better and Boro came out more but Man U had more of the ball but failed to use it. Giggs was disappointing and continuously gave the ball away of just failed to complete his passes. Ronaldo always looked like the only hope of something special.
There can be no arguments about the penalty although Southgate did his best to try. I saw 4 replays from all angles and without doubt there was contact. Southgate tried to argue not a lot of contact but doesn't matter how little contact there is if there's contact then it's a pen! Ronaldo is as entertaining a penalty taker as he is in open play. There were calls of cheat from the Boro bench that caused an angry reaction from Queiroz who had to be held back and this continued at the end when he had to be held back again.
My only complaint in regard to the Utd players was Rooney getting involved in situations he should be avoiding. First off he can't keep his gob shut and was yellow carded for verbals against the ref. Then he was lucky, not once, but twice not to get sent off after reacting to Boateng and pushing him. He got away with that then when Morrison got a red card Rooney waded in and started pushing players and again got away with it. He could easily got a second yellow then he'd miss a game and then we'd be screwed! The kid needs to sort his head out! I know he's passionate but passion is no good to the club when he misses games!

Unbelievable that anyone could doubt it was a foul. I quite like Southgate, but he has enough experience of International football to know that top players can fool defenders into making reckless or ill advised challenges that transform into a foul according to the current laws of the game. He should be imparting that knowledge to his players instead of complaining.

And as he gets away with it, he'll carry on doing it. It's not the missed games I worry about (at least his team will still have 11 players) it's that he'll get red cards for it (rightly) from the refs in European and International games.
Eleven man England is bad enough under MacLaren. To go down to 10 again would be fatal.

Ronaldo's Interview after the game against 'Boro. This is why i can't stand Ronaldo....
Updated: March 19, 2007
'Why all the controversy? I'm too good' - Ronaldo
Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo suggested he was simply 'too good' for some people after rejecting suggestions that he had gone to ground too easily to win the penalty that put his side through to the semi-final of the FA Cup.
Middlesbrough's Jonathan Woodgate was adjudged to have fouled Ronaldo in the area and the Portuguese winger got up to put the ball beyond Mark Schwarzer from the spot and set up a last-four meeting with Barclays Premiership strugglers Watford.
The decision seemed to enrage the Middlesbrough bench but Ronaldo was unapologetic for what he believes was a clear foul.
He told Sky Sports 1: 'For me it is a penalty. Why when Cristiano is involved is it always polemic?
'Of course I felt contact, that is why I slipped. He touched.
'If he touches me I lose my movement and that is why I go down. He kicked me.'
Asked if he knew why controversial decisions seemed to follow him, he said: 'I don't know why. Maybe some people don't like me. Maybe I'm too good.'
Ronaldo also backed his side to go all the way in the tournament.
'We'll go to the semi-finals and I'm happy.
'When you play Watford - and these are all difficult games - if you have a good team then you have a good chance to get to the final.
'I feel confident. I'm in good form and the team is very good too.'
Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate admitted emotions had spilled over following the penalty award, but added: 'The referee felt it was and he gave it, end of story.
'Ronaldo is a fantastic player and is very, very good at what he does.
'I'm sure lots of things are said in the heat of the moment. Yes, we lost our discipline in the last five minutes and that's not acceptable, but my players have given me everything.
'There were some fantastic performances, we have come to the best team in the country and run them all the way.'
James Morrison was sent off in the closing stages for a foul on Ronaldo and Southgate added on Sky Sports 1: 'He's young and will learn the lesson, you have to be mature enough to hold your ground.'

Haha, it isn't the finals yet. Although with the Spurs out, their is no one left to contend with the two top teams in England.

I watched th interview with Ronaldo and the above post isn't very fair on him. The guy interviewing him was asking him the same questions over and over and all stupid ones. Ronaldo didn't know what to say because he was asking him the same thing and he kept trying to search for another way to answer. In the end he was asked why he's always getting fouled or something like that which is a stupid question and he said maybe he was too good.
Fact is he is too good! So his answer was fair but he didn't really have a chance of a fair interview. The questions were all the same and the interview had only one intention... for him to say something that would make the news. If I were Ronaldo I'd avoid anymore interviews. The BBC had to learn the hard way with Fergie. He warned them not to question him about something before one interview and they did it anyway and he hasn't given a post match interview to the BBC for about 2 yrs now. So you'll never see Fergie giving an interview for any Match of the Day coverage or any BBC FA Cup coverage ;)
