Roy Keane has openly criticised the Football Association of Ireland after three members of his Sunderland side were left out of the latest Republic of Ireland squad.

Keane described the situation as a 'disgrace' and believes one of the players involved, Liam Miller, has been omitted because of prejudice against his hometown.

David Connolly and Daryl Murphy were also overlooked, and Keane, who walked out on his country during the 2002 World Cup, believes the players deserve to be included.

"These lads should be in the squad," he said. "It's a disgrace.

"Connolly had a fall-out a few years ago. What's holding Liam Miller back is that he's from Cork, without a doubt.

"People think I'm crazy for saying that, but I'm not. They don't know the FAI as well as I do."

The former Manchester United man also claimed that managing Ireland would be a step down for him.

He added: "Sunderland is a bigger challenge and a bigger job than Ireland, especially when I make my own decisions and I'm not being influenced by anyone. No need to complicate it."

Ouch

Wow, I he cares about his players, and people are going to want to play for him because he's obviously not afraid of anyone. He's going to be a good manager.
