Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted there is no need to rush the ongoing contract talks with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manchester United are keen to tie down one of their prized assets, and have opened talks.
Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes exclusively confirmed to skysports.com on Friday that the 22-year-old's main thoughts were behind continuing his good form - and not his contract.
Now Ferguson has confirmed United have a similar attitude to Ronaldo and his management team.
"The great thing is we have got Cristiano until 2010 so there is not a desperation," said Ferguson.
"It is an amicable arrangement in terms of us saying to him we wanted him to sign a new contract.
"We spoke to his agent, they were happy about that. The boy is happy.
"Now we are in the final phase of trying to conclude a deal which will see the boy sign for another two years until 2012.
"There is no question Cristiano is at the right club.
"It has been a pleasure seeing him develop over the last few years.
"He is 22 now and there has never been a time when he has not enjoyed it."
