Cisse: "I’ll do anything for my team"

Our French player Edouard Cisse, organized a press meeting today (July 19) and answered questions directed by press members. Cisse revealed: ‘‘I am a real fighter on the field. I’ll do anything for the success of my team but off the field I have a rather quiet personality.’’

Mentioning that he was warmly welcomed by all, Cisse claimed his adaptation period was over sooner than he expected. ‘‘Everyone helped me during my adaptation period. I am now 29 years old and experienced enough to overcome these kinds of problems.’’ In regard to his greeting ceremony at the airport which surprised our French player the most he said: ‘This is the first time I ever experienced such a big ceremony. I was both thrilled and shocked. I had an idea about the friendliness of Beşiktaş fans and Turkish people in general beforehand but it was nevertheless a memorable pleasure to experience it in person.’’

After drawing our attention to his fighting game character, Cisse added: ‘Just like I did in the past, I will give all I’ve got for my new team. We will go after the success altogether.’’ He also disclosed that his decision to play for Beşiktaş was greatly influenced by the discussions he carried out with Pascal Nouma.

In relation his recent performance in exhibition games Cisse explained: ‘‘These games show as the areas in which we need to improve on as a team. It always takes time to attain the top form. All of us will be much better in future games. I have a fighting style and I can play anywhere in midfield. It depends on what our Technical Director expects from me. If I play in front of the defense, I can get possession of the ball very fast and put it in play without any risk. If I move a little farther, I can join the attacks and score goals. My teammate and I assume a complementary role in midfield. My main position is to play in front of a four man defense and fight the opponents with my teammate. However, I am not a raving lunatic. I may look aggressive in the game but I have a quiet personality off the field.’’

Emphasizing the importance of hard work during pre-season, ‘‘We are presently training very hard. We want to achieve all the goals in front us. I have a lot of respect for the other teams and their players. We set ourselves high objectives and I came here to be a champion. We will start each one of our games as favorites. Beşiktaş is a great team and we must earn the right to wear its jersey. I am confident that Beşiktaş has the necessary capacity to attain all its future goals. Just like our rivals, we also want to play in the Championship League. No doubt, it is a difficult platform but anything can happen in football. I am sure our Technical Director will take the necessary steps in the right direction,’’ said the French player.

Cisse informed the press members that he intended to play football for a long time, ‘‘I believe I am in perfect physical condition so I plan to stay on the field for quite some time. Besides, playing football is the only thing I do best these days.’’ According to him the Turkish League is not very well known in France. ‘‘French fans are familiar with only few top teams from Turkey but Beşiktaş has a special place in their hearts because of Tigana.’’

He ended the meeting by saying: ‘‘Cisse is a popular French-African surname which is used very commonly throughout France.’’

The former Manchester United and Besiktas midfielder has been practising with Santos club and is set to move from Turkish club Besiktas next week, Santos president Marcelo Teixeira said, according to reports.

Kleberson had been playing with the Turkish club since moving from Man United in 2005.

According to reports,Kleberson,said Besiktas owes him money since the beginning of the year. Besiktas club denies it and FIFA is investigating.

Contract details with Santos were not immediately released, but local media said Kleberson is expected to sign a deal until 2008 with a monthly salary of about 200,000 reals.

Beşiktaş JK are celebrating a a famous win as an early own goal and a clinical Bobo finish sealed a thrilling victory against Liverpool FC.

The luckless Hyypiä put the ball in his own net for the second time in four days and Bobo doubled the lead with eight minutes left to make Steven Gerrard's headed response academic. Beşiktaş move two points ahead of bottom side Liverpool in Group A to ensure the Reds did not have as happy a visit to Istanbul as for the 2005 final.

Both of these teams went into the match desperate for points, Beşiktaş having lost each of their games without scoring and last season's runners-up been held at FC Porto and suffered a home defeat by Olympique Marseille. Beşiktaş, whose coach Ertuğrul Sağlam was serving a one-game suspension leaving Mutlu Topçu in charge, began brightly as Serdar Kurtuluş shot over from distance three minutes in. Soon after Ryan Babel's fine run won a corner which came to Andriy Voronin, whose strong effort was deflected wide by Rodrigo Tello.

But the 13th minute was to prove unlucky for Liverpool, and Sami Hyypiä in particular. Bobo cut into the box and cut inside, and although Pepe Reina saved, Steve Finnan's clearance hit Jamie Carragher and fell nicely to Serdar Özkan. His effort deflected in off Hyypiä, wrongfooting Reina, continuing a bad week for the Finn who also scored an own goal in the derby defeat of Everton FC on Saturday.

After that shock, the visitors rallied and home goalkeeper Hakan Arıkan had to be alert to deal with shots from Voronin and John Arne Riise. On 20 minutes Gerrard combined superbly with Dirk Kuyt but Hakan Arıkan was in the right place again. Babel's powerful drive went over on the half-hour, but the lively home fans were delighted to see their team recover from this difficult spell, though they lost midfielder anchor Serdar Kurtuluş late in the half to a calf injury, Koray Avcı taking his place.

Bobo close
Liverpool led the first-half shot count, with eleven efforts in all, but they found the opening ten minutes of the second period difficult as the Beşiktaş faithful kept up a barrage which seemed to put the Reds off their game. Eventually Voronin carved out a chance as he headed on to Gerrard, whose shot flew just over. Yossi Benayoun was then introduced, but at the other end Federico Higuaín came on and Beşiktaş then came close again, forward Bobo – who had ten minutes as a makeshift goalkeeper at the weekend – hitting the side-netting.

Gerrard looked to set up Benayoun but the brilliant Hakan Arıkan emerged to smother. Three minutes later it was Reina's turn to prove his worth, tipping away an effort from Higuaín. Bobo missed from close range with 12 minutes left, but not long afterwards he make no mistake when sent clear, slipping the ball through Reina's legs. Gerrard's diving header from behind the penalty spot gave Liverpool hope, but they remain on one point and must defeat Beşiktaş an Anfield in a fortnight.

That would really be too much for a player like Holosko who hasn't done anything to prove his qualities. And I think BJK should be worrying about the CBs and DMs instead. Bobo and Nobre should take care of the scoring till the end of the season. But the defensive line seems like a mess. Gokhan Zan is like a glass figure, being injured every game. Ibrahim Toraman works hard but he's just not enough. Ali Tandogan...I don't even know how he's able to start for a team like Besiktas. And I think it's obvious Cisse wasn't what the club hoped for.

I'm not sure about calling it a flip-flop because fans may divide too. But the majority wants them to leave. I think the ones who scream istifa istifa are the real lovers of Beşiktaş as myself. The rest just want to see the team win.

I'd understand Burak (I think he's worth jack shit) but Koray? He's one of the only useful people in the midfield. There are loads of people they could've sent out instead of Koray. Ali Tandogan, Nobre, Diatta, Ibrahim Akin, Higuain (since they don't want him--I personally think he's alright). Even Serdar Ozkan would be a better decision. I think Koray adds more to the team than all those names I mentioned.

Bjk are lucky now they have to beat Manisa next week so they can enter the qualifiers of uefa cup, if they lose they'll enter the intertoto cup and verse a portuguese side in the 3rd round, which i cant see them knocking out.

1- Rustu is injured for Gaziantep game, and Hakan Arikan will play for his first official TSL match this year.
2- Seric had 58 complete passes, making the the most accurate during the Metalist game.
