I heard the popularity of J-league is decreasing, is that right?
If so, why is that?

I never really find J league interesting (sorry to all Japan fans), most likely because i am from Europe. But that's the only Asian league i've heard of, so it's well popular for me.

Compared to European leagues, J-league is totally useless.
But I heard J-league is quite entertaining to watch.

The J.League is still young, good it is starting to provide a lot more quailty players to Europe, soooo, if i was living in Japan, i'd love to watch the game, and catch a glimpse of the future stars before they disappear off the domestic scene.
If the J.League wants to really become good, they must start showing what they can do in the Asian Champions League, if they start to progress in that comp, then more fans will turn out.
I here the domestic league is competitive, but currently Urawa Reds are looking to become the strongest super club, so hopefully they won't win the league again this season, otherwise crowds will disappear if Urawa start to dominate.

j league needs to develop some home born strikers that are capable of scoring. j league is financially the best off league in asia and probably the best organized... i think they should continue to import players from abroad so that their skills and techniques can rub off on the japanese players.

Many quality players from Europe and South America are reluctant to go to Japan because Japan is totally different continent.
And J-league is young so obviously they have no class.

yes i agree with you,
you know seeing that the i reckon they shouldn't even put a j league sub forum, because really no one likes them in this forum, and i think its sad that the mods don't respect the j league or japanese football in general, sorry but this forum, is the worst asian football sub forum forum i ever been to, no one respects each other, sure i've been to forums that have been more rowdy, but at least they have the decency to give credit to the teams they don't like.

there are only 3 mods of this forum. me, emode, and black. please report any offensive posts to me and i will remove them and take appropriate action to the posters involved. for eg. krazy arcade and other people's posts have been edited and threads closed. they have also received temp bans. i am a fair mod and want everyone to have active worthwhile discussions and not childish arguments or name calling. i have stated many times that j league is probably the most organized and financially sound of all asian leagues.
please do not resort or respond to offensive posts like this. please pm me instead and i will deal with them. i really want sfn to be fair and to have meaningful discussions.
I have never really watched a full J League match so i wudint know!

I live in Japan and often ask locals about soccer.
Their response is ALWAYS the same.
I'm yet to find one person who follows it even casually. They're all more interested in baseball.
Obviously there are soccer fans in Japan, but my experience has been that they're quite hard to find in Tokyo.
but when it comes to the national team stage dont you think they get a bit more into it?? ive seen large attendances for major NT matches for japan and im sure they do pull in the numbers during league matches aswell...

There are a few teams that pull big crowds. Urawa fans are as fanatical as you find anywhere. But generally the penetration isn't as big as I thought it would be before coming here. Its still a big league on the world stage, but Japan is a big country and it pales into comparison to the number one sport baseball.
