Rome Total War and Barbarian Invasion

anyone know this game and its expansion pack???
i just love it
but it was kinda sad playing the expanision pack as that was the fall of rome and i love rome :sad:

my laptop wasnt good enough to actually play this game smoothly. i went through a bunch a trouble to dl and install it to find out my laptop aint good enough

i just love the fact that u can fight the battles down on the field, it being a strategy game and all

I've played all the Total War games from Shogun to Medieval Total war through Rome and to Medieval Total War 2. I liked them all (except Shogun) and Rome was one of the best. I also have the BI expansion and there was also an Alexander expansion as well. I still love the game because of the time period. Since then Medieval 2 has taken over because of it's advanced graphics but there were a lot of bugs to sort out.

Lance have you played any of the mods for Rome Total War? There are loads out there that improve gameplay.

www.twcenter.net is a good place to start. There's everything on there for all the total war games. Rome has loads of really good mods.

Rome TW and Barbarian invasion... The best i have ever played. Especially the battle screen is incredible. When i upgrade my graphics card i'am gonna play Medieval 2.
i want to play The Celt's in Bi but its not playable. How do i make them playable?

Check out twcenter.net there are plenty of mods in there and a few for making none playable factions playable and the instructions with the mods are pretty easy to follow.

This is the link to get to the mods section of the forum. Just check the Rome and BI sections and you'll find a mod fix to play all factions.

oh well to make any faction playable, go to
C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\bi\data\world\maps\campaign\barbarian_invasion
and in that folder there would be a text file called
descr_strat.txt
open it and then scroll down to where there would have playable and non-playable factions
just move the celts into the playable section.

i learnt to mod the game alot, and made it alot harder for me to play

Well the hording is supposed to make things a little more difficult as the game is pretty easy even on the hard levels but it can be annoying if you play a faction right next to the hordes such as the Eastern Roman Empire. Some of the mods on the site i mentioned above make the game a lot better. I haven't played the vanilla (i.e non modded) game for a long time. Even a lot of the mods, which try to make the game a little more challenging, don't really make it very difficult. I rarely lose a battle and that's not because i'm a great tactician but the AI is pretty stupid :lol:
