Paletta's wanted in Leeds Mon, Feb 05 2007 15:06
Leeds boss Dennis Wise is set to make a loan move for Liverpool's out-of-favour Argentinian defender Gabriel Paletta next week.
The 20-year-old can not get a regular game at Anfield and has not played since the Reds conceded six to Arsenal in the Carling Cup.
That was only Paletta's fifth game of the season and Rafael Benitez appears willing to allow the former Banfield man to gain match practice and get the speed of the British game on loan at the Championship strugglers.
Wise concedes his side need to improve at the back if they are to avoid the drop and, following the sale of Matthew Kilgallon, he needs a big centre back to stem the tide of goals Leeds are conceding.
Following defeat to Norwich which leaves them at the foot of the Championship, Wise said: "I'm disappointed and it hurts particularly after the way we conceded the goals.
"I think we need to win eight of our 16 remaining games and we've got some good looking matches coming up against teams around us. I'm still very confident."
