Sporting is known for investing a lot of money in young talented players. Their youth academy is the best in Portugal. Players such as:
Futre
Figo
C. Ronaldo
Quaresma
all came from there.
Sporting's current squad has young talents such as:
Joćo Moutinho
Nani.
Do you think investment in youth is a good strategy? Is Sporting benefitting from this?

Yeah Ricardo has been playing for Sporting for ages.
He had a good World Cup performance up till the last game for 3rd place position against Germany. He really sucked in that game. Two of the goals he could have saved. He must of been drunk.

I'm a big fan of Ajax. They invest a lot in young players. At Ajax, young guys have a chance of playing and showing off their talent. At most of the top clubs, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Milan, Juve, etc., the don't want to waste their time with youngsters, they prefer accomplished players who have proven their worth.
It nice to see certain clubs investing in the talents of tommorrow. Sporting does that, and I'm glad.

Investing in youth is always good. The problem with having a good youth system and not being a very big team is the big teams will always come in for the best of the youngsters and they will likely get them. Sometimes you might get lucky and the youth is such a fan of the club he's playing for he'll stay but more often than not they'll be tempted to move to a big team.
Man U has always had a good youth policy and a lot of players have come through the ranks to star in the first team. Some players aren't good enough but are still good enough for a lot of teams and we make a decent amount of money selling them on so a good youth policy is also good for any team as a money spinner. We recently sold one of our young midfielders to Derby for
£2m. That's quite a profit! Smaller teams with good youth policies can make a lot of money which can be the difference between staying in a division or being relegated.

Here is a report on English Youth Academies. It also talks about the youth development in Sporting's Academy.
