There are 7 possible opponents:

Chelsea
Bayern
Liverpool
Lyon
Valencia
Manchester United
AC Milan

Well, they're all difficult but I prefer Liverpool or Lyon. I think they are the easiest.

It dont matter Bro and I say that because Porto has to be able to beat any team, We dont know who they will play yet nor do they they have to go in with the mentality that they can defeat anyone put in front of them and with that I say I dont care who it is, easier harder, They have to win. Bring it On any team. Porto is rarin to Go.

Hey Calif_Chivas. I agree, Valencia would have been an easier adversary (at least on paper) than Chelsea.

Chlesea is a strong team and are favourites to get through. However, if I know my Porto, they'll try their very best to win and to get to the next round. We still have a chance. :) If we loose, at least we loose to a powerhouse. :D

This week FC Porto got knocked out of the Portuguese Cup by a 2nd division team I've never heard of.

My confidence in a good result against Cheslea just took a nose dive...

FC Porto lost again this weekend. This time it was 1-0 against Leiria.

With this poor form they'll probably get slaughtered by Chelsea.

Well, FC Porto was in fine form before the Christmas break. After the long holiday, they came back and started playing poorly. It's like their lost all their capibilties. I sure hope they get their form back soon, or else...

Regarding the "Special One", yesterday on TV, they did a flashback and showed Mourinho shortly after having signed for Chelsea. He was saying that he thought he might encounter FC Porto in the future in some European Cup and he would have to play against them.

Well, he was right. Kind of ironic though.

A 1-1 draw at home against Chelsea FC has not dampened FC Porto's hopes of reaching the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, with Bosingwa saying: "If we do not feel confident ahead of the second leg then there's no point in travelling to England."

Positive mood
Jesualdo Ferreira's team took the lead after just 12 minutes through Raul Meireles but the English side, led by former Porto coach José Mourinho, were back on terms within four minutes. However, the home side caused the English champions plenty of problems, and with Ricardo Quaresma rattling the crossbar with a first-half shot, the mood in the camp remains positive ahead of the second leg at Stamford Bridge.

Simple equation
While he accepted that the tie was now tilted in Chelsea's favour, Bosingwa was not about to concede defeat. "Yes, it's true that they are in a better situation because now they are playing at home but we have to go to London and play to win," he said. Asked whether he still felt that Porto were confident of reaching the quarter-finals, the 24-year-old was adamant. He said: "If we do not feel confident ahead of the second leg then there's no point in travelling to England. Our only goal is to win there. This is a knockout tie and not a group stage match. They secured a draw here and now we must win away from home. It's as simple as that."

Attacking intent
Few doubt the magnitude of the task that faces Ferreira's men, but within the team itself there was a real belief in the team's ability to pull off a shock result. "We have got what it takes to go to London and get a good result," said central defender Bruno Alves, while right-back ***ile added: "We attacked for 90 minutes and we'll do the same in England because our aim is to win."

Living proof
Argentinian-born forward Lisandro López echoed those sentiments after the full-time whistle. "Chelsea are a great team with great players but that doesn't mean we can't beat them," he said. Brazilian central defender Pepe was feeling similarly defiant, saying: "We have proved that we can match their game and we still have 90 minutes to decide the tie."

'No doubt whatsoever'
Having menaced the Chelsea defence for much of the evening, Quaresma admitted that he felt "disappointed" to see his shot crash against Petr Čech's crossbar, but he was not feeling too downhearted. "That's football," he added. "I think we created more chances than Chelsea and I have no doubt whatsoever that we have the quality to go to London and win the game."

I hope Porto go through but think it's going to be very difficult for them. Still there's always a chance and I'll be supporting them over Chelski.

A 1-1 tie at home isn't a good result for FC Porto but I still think there's a chance of a win in London.

José Mourinho says Chelsea are favourites to get through. "It is normal for us to be considered favourites and I don't mean any disrespect towards FC Porto even though thay have a qaulity team".

He refers to the fact that Chelsea has been unlucky this year with so many injuries.

I'm sorry Port Wine but i'll have to go with Chelsea
They have been winning their recent games in the EPL too so it will be hard for Porto to beat them in their current form esp since they're playing host this time around. I bet Drogba will score a goal or two in this game. Go Chelsea :)

I guess Chelsea got scared during the first half of the match.

If it wasn't for Elton's screw up, FC Porto might have gotten through. Robben confirmed he is the best diver in the world right now. Anyway, Chelsea played better in today's match. FC Porto played better in the first game.

Congrats to Chelsea.

Some big teams got knocked out today. Barcelona, the defending Champions are out. Inter Milan and Lyon also.

I hope next year, we'll get at least to the last 8. We had bad luck getting drawn against Chelsea. There were a number of easier clubs. I'd love to see FC Porto win the CL for the third time. Hopefully, with a more mature and experienced team, we'll do better next year.

If I'm not mistaken, he was banned for a month. Yeah, we need him to keep this section active.

Not sure, but I think his ban will expire in the later part of this month.

It expires soon and will be good for this section for him to be back.

Shame about Porto and Chelsea. I didn't see the match as I was watching Man U but when the Porto 1-0 lead came up I was jumping around lol. Pity they couldn't hold on. Chelsea haven't been impressive lately but they are very lucky!

You confident of keeping Quaresma at Porto PW??

I was having dinner at Pizza Hut while watching the game. I was thrilled when Quaresma got the first goal in. I thought to myself, Chelsea will have to score two goals to get through, so we have a chance of making it to the next round. Then, in the first couple of minutes of the second half, they scored. They had practically the entire second half to score another goal.

If it wasn't for our goalkeeper having screwed up, we just may have gotten through. He's the current Brazilian NT goalkeeper and he's usually very consistent.

They didn't impress me at all during the two matches. Both were close games.

I hope he stays for a couple of more years. We need him for the Super Liga and the CL. I honesty don't think he'll stay around for long. Some clubs from the top leagues around Europe have already showed interest in him.

He's highly praised amongst Portuguese fans. When he first came to FC Porto, he was a ball hog. Always wanted to do his own thing to prove how technically skilled he was and to prove how much Porto needed him. Fortunately, he has matured since then. The coach benched him several times for not passing the ball and eventually it sunk in. Now, he is a team player.

Ronaldo was a bit like that when he was first in the Utd side. Well he can still be a ball hog but when a player hits the ball as well as ronaldo you can't blame him. Sometimes though you can see a better opportunity and when her doesn't pass it then it's frustrating. Of course if he did pass it and the chance was missed then us fans would question why he didn't go for goal?? I'm like that all the time.... "SHOOT SHOOT!!!! Awwwwww why didn't you pass you idiot??" "PASS IT PASS IT!!! Awwwww why didn't you shoot you idiot???"

Benching a player is the best way to make him understand he needs to listen to the coach ;)

Portuguese fans love seeing players do tricks, stroll past 3 or 4 opponents or do some skillful footwork. I also like it because it's very entertaining to watch.

The problem is when certain players exaggerate and forget it is a team sport. I've seen, C. Ronaldo, Quaresma, Nani and others do this on a regular basis. Figo, for instance, does it once in a while but it is the exception, not the rule. He was a mature player even at a young age and was always a team player. Fortunately, C. Ronaldo, Quaresma and Nani have realized that it OK to do it once in a while, but you shouldn't press your luck. Talented players need to have freedom on the pitch, but you can't let them do everything they want.

Benching a player once in a while brings them back to earth. :D

Opposition players don't like to see "showboating" in the EPL. They see it as an insult (as in look at what i can do i'm so much better than you) and showboating like Ronaldo performs usually ends up with a crunching tackle

whe he first joined Utd he did a lot of tricks and most of the time he didn't pull them off end ended up losing the ball which made him look a bit silly but he's developed well and when he does a trick now it usually works. Fergie doesn't rage as much at him from the touchline as he did in previous seasons

He's pulling off more tricks now and with lightning speed. I suppose he could have had a carrer in the 100m race at the Olympics. His opponents must get a little frustated when he passes them by like a rocket.

Did you see his 3 assists today? Played very well.

The play started in the defense with Rooney passing the ball to C. Ronaldo. Then, he has took off like a rocket and later passed the ball back to Rooney who scored the goal.

It was a fanatastic play. I heard people saying before that Rooney and C. Ronaldo don't know how to play together, well I guess this proves the ceptics wrong.
