i saw the man u vs AV game. park was pretty good after so long out of injury. I think he'll continue to improve. The original Setanta announcer was way too critical of him. I watched the game again on MUTV and they were much more generous of him coming out of injury for over 3 months.

dec 27 Man U vs WestHam game
O MAN!!
Girafe definitely changed the game from a frustrating affair to a fun affair. that was brilliant today 2 goals in less than 10 minutes of starting in the second half. absolute class. although i think Park Ji Sung should have been allowed to take that penalty that he drew.
hey one thing i noticed is that yes park is a little shaky with the ball and has atendency to lose it or pass it away too quickly. him and evra were a gong show today.
rooney and park had that amazing set up that time but even there it looked like park had a fluke pass to rooney.
but overall i'd say park went from a 6/10 to a 7.5/10 today. playing the full game definitely helped. my optimism is a bit subdued though as it was only wigan they destroyed.

well i watched the latest man u vs n castle thread and here are the park high lights
When Park came on against N Castle at 34th when Man U was a goal behind showed that Alex Fergi has a lot of trust in Park.
Here is a play by play on the park touches 1st half.
36th min- park first touch- almost resulted in a nice set up and goal to rooney. rooney should have scored that
39th min- before schole's score, nice passing...
40th min- with giggs- could have done a little more to play pass and play... resulting in play loss
41st min- park instrumental in taking away ball possession
42nd min- if park was just a 1/2 second faster that would have been another goal for scholes. damn.. i thought that was in bounds.
44th min- park was amazing bringing the ball back on the counter attack.. if ronaldo wasn't a ball hog it could have resulted in a goal.
45 min-park unfortunately loses the ball...
45 min- OMFG park missed an amazing gift! could have scored. he set this up superbly by running the entire field and getting into a spot where no one was marking him.... a great example of how he is a good off the ball player.. but a bad example of how he can't seem to score.
2nd half park match report man U vs N castle
45- park passes nicely to ronaldo, leading to scholes to score!! amazing movement.
50- park almost steals the ball off a mistake. making good pass and play...
51- park misses a decent pass from neville
55 park makes good contact, losses the ball from poor pass, but recovers nicely. good pass again...
56- only if park ran a tad faster, might have resulted in a good chance for man u..
56 park not running too much. maybe tired
59 rooney makes a bad pass to park...then goes down due to some injury
64 park loses the good ball from rooney very easily
66 "idea was good from ji sung park" was the commentator after park tried to make a long ball to rooney but was off... was a hard pass
68 park forces huntington to pass to the touch line lol
70 park makes a good flick to go ahead but loses ball.. not a bad move
71 DAVID EDGAR a fellow Canadian, 2nd appearance as N Castle scores!
77 can't help but notice park runs a lot slower than giggs when they are running forward to get ronaldo's cross. also can't help but notice rooney is missing some good chances. maybe he is injured.
79 park gets ball from rooney, loses the ball with bad passing
80 rooney passes to park, but for some reason instead of running in front of the defender to get the ball park runs behind the defender and loses the ball?? park makes a nice flick to scholes which creates a good chance
81 park makes a nice cross
83 solano makes a great save with his head. park makes some good moves in the background, but he fell when he ran into a player. lol
86 park makes a good flick to block a pass
86 park picks up a good misplaced header
88 PARK MISSES ANOTHER FCKING CHANCE!! OMFG!
89 park makes a pass to giggs but giggs misses.
90 Park makes an amazing tornado move to deek out players, then makes a good pass

i watched this MU game vs Newcastle. Park was playing quite ok except for the many missed pass lol. They are countless times when Giggs passed the ball to him & Park is not able to run fast enough to get the ball. Overall it was good to see him playing again tho it could have been better if he actually scored that goal in that one time!! But then he could do a lot worse than Rooney who has been less than impressive. The only joy of the match was Paul Scholes 2 amazing goals & C.Ronaldo! lol C.Ronaldo was being tackled left & right but he bounced back impressively ;)

yeah. well he missed 2 good chances.. very close. one hitting the post, one him messing up. imagine if he had scored both of those! everyone would be praising him right now.

Nah. I have never been a fan of Park. He is good for South Korea but not good enough for United IMO.

haha right now no... i guess you didn't watch CL when he played for PSV. judging by the fact that you are chinese it's no wonder i hear this from you.
Do you even know that he came out of 3 month injury? this is his only 3rd game back and from what i've seen sure there is room for improvement but he definitely deserves a spot on Man U. just listen to Sir Alex himself on his interviews. give him time. and don't hate because he's korean.

dude...first off all im a white canadian...and i have many korean friends hah
i am only living in hong kong for two years lol
im not racist at all lol
and even before park was injured he was not that good. He cannot even compete with the likes or c ronaldo giggs and scholes.

ok no one said he was as good as C Ron, giggs, or scholes. but he still definitely deserves a place in the first squad imo. just give him time for his fitness to return.
my question is, did you watch the psv games in CL? if you did you'd know park is first class.

Hey, Alex Furgeson himself been praising & defending Park so to me that worth a lot more than ur personel opinion. I have seen him playing for S.Korea & it was good. So i guess we need to see him play more MU games before making any judgements!!! At least he did better than Rooney IMO ;)

I'm a big fan of Park. I'm sick of hearing comparisons between him and other players in the Utd setup. He's a good player in his own right but because he only get one game in six it's difficult for him to have the same impact he did at PSV. When he's on a run the ball seems to stick to his feet. It can be very difficult to get the ball off him although his delivery isn't always the best and he doesn't shoot as often as he should. He should be a little more selfish! He certainly adds a lot to the team!
He's only just back from injury and had a couple of games where he clearly was suffering for being out so long but was awsome against Villa yesterday. Scoring one, setting up Carrick for the second and winning the ball to start off the move for the third!

i totally agree with you. you know park prior to injury did play almost every game, not always as a starter but definitely as a sub. but you are right sometimes he only plays 15-20 minutes so it's hard for him to have the same impact as he did at PSV where he was playing all the games to the full extent of 90 minutes.
Park creates lots of chances and I think today's performance will be a big confidence boost for him. I too was getting frustrated that he would always pass rather than shooting it in for himself. maybe he can learn to be more selfish and score more glory for himself.

Problem is with Giggs and Ronaldo in the side it difficult to get a start all the time. Fergie likes to rotate when he can but it's always going to be a struggle for Park to get a run in the side and fans don't take this into account. They see him play and average game because of the reasons i've already stated and say well he's not a great player! Forlan had the same problem when he was there. He rarely had a start and when he did score he was dropped for several games before coming on as a sub! Look at his scoring record in Spain! It is a fact that being rotated all the time affects your form!
As long as Park is content to be rotated though it will be fine as Fergie won't let him go. He knows a valuable player when he sees one! I'm fed up with hearing he was only brought in to increase merchandising sales in Asia. What a load of crap!

one interesting thing in the av game was that ronaldo and park traded sides often.
Gavmundo
01-15-2007, 11:47 AM
Fergie does that quite often though with Giggs and Ron changing sides when they play together as well.

hmm i wonder if that's his trick strategy... confuse the hell out of the opposition defenders so that they can't mark as well.

Yea that 4th min miss made me think it was going to be one of those days but he made up for it with his two goals although Ronaldo was the best player on the pitch and created three of the 4 goals!

Was at OT for this match.
Couldn't believe Park had managed to get two shots on target in one game never mind score them!!!
Rooney and Ronaldo absolutely class.
Gavmundo
03-20-2007, 04:02 PM
Well that's a bit unfair. I've seen Park play well plenty of times for Utd. He misses quite a few chances but who doesn't? Rooney misses more than his fair share. I'm really happy for Park. He deserves it. He's a real team player!
judicatormd
03-23-2007, 09:58 PM
ya when he missed the 6th minute shot i was like WTF!!! NOT AGAIN! you could see the frustration in SAF when he missed. then he more than redeemed himself with the opening goal which was much harder to get in than the first miss. the second goal was just awesome positioning but credit to ronaldo for firing it to give park the reboudn.

and recorded five goals and two assists in 8 games which he started.
This will not his last goal and assist of this season

After he got hurt Ji Sung aint doing crap right now.
Actually its scary but i think its hurting him to be with Man U right now. He gets an injury & is lucky to play at all with the team. He was better off with PSV where he was one of the star players if not the BEST player on the squad.
He'd fit in well with a Dutch, German, or Italian team.
