I cant look past Kenny Dalglish for this one, though Gordon Strachan was great for his country for quite a while, and of course the dependable Jim Leighton often gets overlooked.
Your thoughts please :)

Hmmm. I think you're overlooking players such as Baxter, Bremner, Mackay, Johnstone (Jimmy, not Maurice obviously) all too easily.
Dalglish was class, no doubt about it, but these other players were world beaters also.
And I didn't even mention Dennis Law..

Jinky... pretty much the whole Lisbon Lions. (Even though I'm not a celtic fan, it'd be rude to ignore such class.)
I can only wish I'd around to watch these players in their time.

Yeah. As much as it pains me to credit either of the Forces Of Darkness, the achievment of the Lisbon Lions is something that no-one will ever achieve again.
It bugs me as well that I never got to see any of the true Scottish greats in their prime. As I've mentioned, Baxter, Bremner and of course arguably the greatest player to pull on the coveted maroon jersey, Dave Mackay, must all have been some sight. Instead, we've now got McFadden (I'm not even gonna try and compare him to Johnstone), Ferguson (he thinks he's a hard midfielder? MacKay would've snapped him in two just for looking at him) and Miller (everyone goes on that he tries really hard but, put me in a Scotland jersey and try bloody hard as well!!).
Still, at least under Waldo we've improved a fair bit although I have to say I'm surprised, as he was always found out on the European stage with Rangers.

Dalgleish, Baxter, Souness - all wonderful players. But I think you're forgetting the great Davie Cooper. A loss to the game and to the world - one of the most talented players ever to set foot on Scottish soil. May he R.I.P.

I forgot about Coops. Even at the end of his career, he was still producing some magical stuff and he skinned us on a quite few occasions.
It was a sad day for football when he went. If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure Ruud Gullit said he was one of his favourite players when he was younger.
It's amazing that, out of all these players, there's not one in todays Scotland squad who would get in a "Top 11 Scottish Footballers."
The only one who would get even remotely close, would be Craig Gordon. And even then, he's still got a bit of work to beat one of the Andy Gorams..;) :D .

Ferguson, Fletcher, McFadden, Boyd.........that's not a bad group we have now.

I'd put Ferguson in their...... and Boyd in his prime should have a good shot.

No chance. Feguson's good but when you compare him to Souness, Bremner, MacKay and Baxter, even Strachan, Ferguson would be lucky to get a place on the bench.

"King" Kenny would be in a starting eleven, no problem but as for best ever, I find it hard to say he was better than Johnstone, Bremner etc.

Cooper was sadly taken by, if I remember correctly, a brain haemorage (spl?). One of those sudden b*st*rds that take every one by surprise.
There's a great clip of him in the (I think) Dryburgh Cup Final (a Glasgow trophy) where he plays keepy-uppy against the Celtic team and scores an absolute belter.
